1 And when David was passed a little beyond the top of the mount, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth came toward him, with a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred loaves of bread, and a hundred bunches of raisins, and a hundred cakes of dried figs, and a bottle of wine.
1 E passando Davi um pouco mais adiante do cume, eis que Ziba, o servo de Mefibosete, veio encontrar-se com ele, com um par de jumentos albardados, e sobre eles duzentos pães, com cem cachos de passas, e cem de frutas de verão e um odre de vinho.
2 And the king said unto Ziba, What meanest thou with these? And Ziba said, The asses are for the kings household to ride on; and the bread and the dried figs for the young men to eat; and the wine to drink for such as may be faint in the wilderness.
2 E disse o rei a Ziba: Que pretendes com isto? E disse Ziba: Os jumentos são para a casa do rei, para se montarem neles; e o pão e as frutas de verão para comerem os moços; e o vinho para beberem os cansados no deserto.
3 And the king said, And where is thy masters son? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he remaineth at Jerusalem; for he said, Today will the house of Israel restore unto me the kingdom of my father.
3 Então disse o rei: Ora, onde está o filho de teu senhor? E disse Ziba ao rei: Eis que ficou em Jerusalém; porque disse: Hoje me restituirá a casa de Israel o reino de meu pai.
4 Then said the king to Ziba, Behold, thine shall be all that pertaineth unto Mephibosheth. And Ziba said, I prostrate myself; let me but find grace in thy eyes, my Lord, O king.
4 Então disse o rei a Ziba: Eis que teu é tudo quanto tem Mefibosete. E disse Ziba: Eu me inclino, que eu ache graça em teus olhos, ó rei meu senhor.
5 And when King David came as far as Bachurim, behold, there came out thence a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimi, the son of Gera, coming forth, and cursing.
5 E, chegando o rei Davi a Baurim, eis que dali saiu um homem da linhagem da casa de Saul, cujo nome era Simei, filho de Gera, e, saindo, ia amaldiçoando.
6 And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right and on his left.
6 E atirava pedras contra Davi, e contra todos os servos do rei Davi; ainda que todo o povo e todos os valentes iam à sua direita e à sua esquerda.
7 And thus said Shimi as he cursed, Away, away, thou man of blood, and thou worthless man!
7 E, amaldiçoando-o Simei, assim dizia: Sai, sai, homem de sangue, e homem de Belial.
8 The Lord hath brought back upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou didst reign; and the Lord hath placed the kingdom into the hand of Abshalom thy son; and, behold, thou art now in thy misfortune, because a man of blood art thou.
8 O Senhor te deu agora a paga de todo o sangue da casa de Saul, em cujo lugar tens reinado; já deu o Senhor o reino na mão de Absalão teu filho; e eis-te agora na tua desgraça, porque és um homem de sangue.
9 Then said Abishai the son of Zeruyah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my Lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and remove his head.
9 Então disse Abisai, filho de Zeruia, ao rei: Por que amaldiçoaria este cão morto ao rei meu senhor? Deixa-me passar, e lhe tirarei a cabeça.
10 And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruyah? so let him curse; because the Lord hath said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Wherefore hast thou done so?
10 Disse, porém, o rei: Que tenho eu convosco, filhos de Zeruia? Ora deixai-o amaldiçoar; pois o Senhor lhe disse: Amaldiçoa a Davi; quem pois diria: Por que assim fizeste?
11 And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, who hath come forth out of my own body, seeketh my life: how much more now this Benjamite? let him alone, and let him curse; for the Lord hath said it to him.
11 Disse mais Davi a Abisai, e a todos os seus servos: Eis que meu filho, que saiu das minhas entranhas, procura a minha morte; quanto mais ainda este benjamita? Deixai-o, que amaldiçoe; porque o Senhor lho disse.
12 Perhaps the Lord will look on my affliction, and the Lord will requite me good instead of his cursing this day.
12 Porventura o Senhor olhará para a minha miséria; e o Senhor me pagará com bem a sua maldição deste dia.
13 And David and his men went thus on the way. And Shimi went on the side of the mount opposite to him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones toward him, and cast dust.
13 Prosseguiram, pois, o seu caminho, Davi e os seus homens; e também Simei ia ao longo do monte, defronte dele, caminhando e amaldiçoando, e atirava pedras contra ele, e levantava poeira.
14 And the king, and all the people that were with him, arrived weary, and refreshed themselves there.
14 E o rei e todo o povo que ia com ele chegaram cansados, e refrescaram-se ali.
15 And Abshalom, and all the people the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Achithophel also with him.
15 Absalão, pois, e todo o povo, os homens de Israel, vieram a Jerusalém; e Aitofel com ele.
16 And it came to pass, when Chushai the Arkite, Davids friend, was come unto Abshalom, that Chushai said unto Abshalom, Long live the king! Long live the king!
16 E sucedeu que, chegando Husai, o arquita, amigo de Davi, a Absalão, disse Husai a Absalão: Viva o rei, viva o rei!
17 And Abshalom said to Chushai, Is this thy kindness for thy friend? why art thou not gone with thy friend?
17 Porém Absalão disse a Husai: É esta a tua beneficência para com o teu amigo? Por que não foste com o teu amigo?
18 And Chushai said unto Abshalom, No; but whom the Lord, and this people, and all the men of Israel have chosen, his will I be, and with him will I remain.
18 E disse Husai a Absalão: Não, porém daquele que eleger o Senhor, e todo este povo, e todos os homens de Israel, dele serei e com ele ficarei.
19 And secondly, who is it whom I shall serve? is it not in the presence of his son? as I have served in thy fathers presence, so will I be in thy presence.
19 E, demais disto, a quem serviria eu? Porventura não seria diante de seu filho? Como servi diante de teu pai, assim serei diante de ti.
20 Then said Abshalom to Achithophel, Hold counsel among yourselves as to what we shall do.
20 Então disse Absalão a Aitofel: Dai conselho entre vós sobre o que devemos fazer.
21 And Achithophel said unto Abshalom, Go in unto thy fathers concubines, whom he hath left to guard the house; and all Israel will hear that thou art in bad odor with thy father: and then will the hands of all that are with thee become strong.
21 E disse Aitofel a Absalão: Possue as concubinas de teu pai, que deixou para guardarem a casa; e assim todo o Israel ouvirá que te fizeste aborrecível para com teu pai; e se fortalecerão as mãos de todos os que estão contigo.
22 So they spread for Abshalom a tent upon the roof; and Abshalom went in unto his fathers concubines before the eyes of all Israel.
22 Estenderam, pois, para Absalão uma tenda no terraço; e Absalão possuiu as concubinas de seu pai, perante os olhos de todo o Israel.
23 And the counsel of Achithophel, which he counseled in those days, was as if a man had asked advice of the word of God: so was all the counsel of Achithophel both with David and with Abshalom.
23 E era o conselho de Aitofel, que aconselhava naqueles dias, como se a palavra de Deus se consultara; tal era todo o conselho de Aitofel, assim para com Davi como para com Absalão.
