1 And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this flask of oil in thy hand, and go to Ramothgilad:
1 Então o profeta Eliseu chamou um dos discípulos dos profetas e lhe disse: — Prepare-se, leve com você este vaso de azeite e vá até Ramote-Gileade.
2 And when thou art come thither, look out there for Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi, and go in, and cause him to stand up from the midst of his brethren, and bring him in to the innermost chamber;
2 Quando chegar lá, procure Jeú, filho de Josafá, filho de Ninsi. Entre no lugar onde ele estiver, peça que ele se levante do meio de seus companheiros e leve-o para uma câmara interior.
3 And thou shalt then take the flask of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, Thus hath said the Lord, I have anointed thee as king over Israel. Then must thou open the door, and flee, and not wait for any thing.
3 Pegue o vaso de azeite, derrame o azeite sobre a cabeça dele e diga: Assim diz o Senhor : “Eu o ungi para ser rei sobre Israel.” Depois, abra a porta e fuja depressa.
4 So the young man, the disciple of the prophet, went to Ramothgilad.
4 O rapaz, o jovem profeta, foi até Ramote-Gileade.
5 And when he came, behold, the captains of the army were sitting; and he said, I have a word for thee, O captain. And Jehu said, For whom of all of us? And he said, For thee, O captain.
5 Quando chegou lá, eis que os capitães do exército estavam reunidos. Ele disse: — Capitão, tenho uma mensagem para o senhor. Ao que Jeú perguntou: — Para qual de nós? O rapaz respondeu: — Para o senhor, capitão!
6 And he arose, and went into the house: and he poured the oil on his head, and said unto him, Thus hath said the Lord the God of Israel, I anoint thee as king over the people of the Lord, over Israel.
6 Então Jeú se levantou e entrou na casa. O jovem derramou o azeite sobre a cabeça de Jeú e lhe disse: — Assim diz o
7 And thou shalt smite the house of Achab thy master, that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the Lord, at the hand of Izebel.
7 Você porá fim à casa de Acabe, seu senhor, para que eu vingue da mão de Jezabel o sangue de meus servos, os profetas, e o sangue de todos os servos do Senhor .
8 And the whole house of Achab shall perish: and I will cut off from Achab every male, and the guarded and fortified in Israel;
8 Toda a casa de Acabe perecerá. Eliminarei de Acabe todos do sexo masculino, quer escravo, quer livre, em Israel.
9 And I will make the house of Achab like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Basha the son of Achiyah;
9 Porque farei com a casa de Acabe o mesmo que fiz com a casa de Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, e com a casa de Baasa, filho de Aías.
10 And Izebel shall the dogs eat in the field of Yizreel, with none to bury her. And he then opened the door, and fled.
10 Os cães devorarão Jezabel no campo de Jezreel; não haverá quem a sepulte.” Dito isto, abriu a porta e fugiu.
11 But Jehu came forth to the servants of his Lord: and one said unto him, Is all well? wherefore came this madman to thee? And he said unto them, Ye yourselves know the man, and his talk.
11 Jeú saiu e voltou para junto dos outros servos de seu senhor, que lhe perguntaram: — Está tudo bem? Por que esse louco veio falar com você? Ele respondeu: — Vocês conhecem esse homem e sabem as coisas que ele anda dizendo.
12 And they said, It is false: only tell us, we pray thee. And he said, So and so did he speak to me, saying, Thus hath said the Lord, I anoint thee as king over Israel.
12 Mas eles disseram: — É mentira! Por favor, conte-nos o que ele disse. Então Jeú disse: — Assim e assim me falou, a saber: Assim diz o
13 Then they hastened, and they took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs; and they blew the cornet, saying, Jehu is king.
13 Então eles se apressaram e, tomando cada um o seu manto, os puseram debaixo dele, sobre os degraus, e tocaram a trombeta, e disseram: — Jeú é rei!
14 So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. (Now Joram had kept guard at Ramothgilad, he and all Israel, because of Chazael the king of Syria.
14 Assim, Jeú, filho de Josafá, filho de Ninsi, conspirou contra Jorão. Ora, Jorão tinha estado em Ramote-Gileade, ele e todo o Israel, para defendê-la de Hazael, rei da Síria.
15 But king Jehoram was returned to be healed in Yizreel of the wounds which the Syrians had inflicted on him, when he was fighting with Chazael the king of Syria.) And Jehu said, If this be your mind, then let none that escapeth go forth out of the city to go to tell it in Yizreel.
15 Porém o rei Jorão voltou a Jezreel para se curar dos ferimentos que os sírios lhe haviam causado, quando lutou contra Hazael, rei da Síria. Jeú disse aos demais capitães do exército: — Se é da vontade de vocês, que ninguém saia escondido da cidade, para ir anunciar isto em Jezreel.
16 So Jehu rode in a chariot, and went to Yizreel; for Joram was lying there. And Achazyah the king of Judah was come down to see Joram.
16 Então Jeú subiu num carro de guerra e foi para Jezreel, porque Jorão estava de cama ali. Também Acazias, rei de Judá, tinha ido visitar Jorão.
17 And the watchman stood on the tower in Yizreel, and he saw the company of Jehu as he came; and he said, A company do I see, And Jehoram said, Take a horseman, and send out to meet them, and let him say, Is it peace?
17 A sentinela que estava na torre de Jezreel viu a tropa de Jeú, que se aproximava, e disse: — Vejo uma tropa. Jorão disse: — Chame um cavaleiro e diga que vá ao encontro deles, para perguntar: “Vocês vêm em paz?”
18 So there went one riding on horseback to meet him, and said, Thus hath said the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee about behind me. And the watchman told, saying, The messenger came up to them, but he hath not returned.
18 O cavaleiro foi ao encontro de Jeú e disse: — Assim diz o rei: “Vocês vêm em paz?” Jeú respondeu: — O que você tem a ver com a paz? Passe para trás de mim. A sentinela deu aviso, dizendo: — O mensageiro chegou até eles, mas não está voltando.
19 Then sent he out a second rider on horseback, who came to them, and said, Thus hath said the king, Is it peace? And Jehu answered, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee about behind me.
19 Então o rei Jorão mandou outro cavaleiro. Quando ele chegou até eles, disse: — Assim diz o rei: “Vocês vêm em paz?” Jeú respondeu: — O que você tem a ver com a paz? Passe para trás de mim.
20 And the watchman told, saying, He came up to them, but he hath not returned: and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi; for he driveth as though he were mad.
20 A sentinela deu aviso, dizendo: — Também este chegou até eles, mas não está voltando. E o guiar do carro parece como o de Jeú, filho de Ninsi, porque ele está guiando como um louco.
21 And Jehoram said, Harness up. And his chariot was harnessed up. And Jehoram the king of Israel and Achazyahu the king of Judah went out, each in his chariot, and they went out to meet Jehu, and found him in the portion of land of Naboth the Yizreelite.
21 Jorão disse: — Preparem o meu carro de guerra! E eles o prepararam. Jorão, rei de Israel, saiu, e Acazias, rei de Judá, foi com ele, cada um em seu carro de guerra. Foram ao encontro de Jeú, e o acharam no campo de Nabote, o jezreelita.
22 And it came to pass, when Jehoram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he said, What peace can there be with the acts of incest of thy mother Izebel and her many witchcrafts?
22 Ao ver Jeú, o rei Jorão perguntou: — Jeú, você vem em paz? Ele respondeu: — Que paz, se ainda continuam as prostituições de sua mãe Jezabel e as suas muitas feitiçarias?
23 And Jehoram turned about, and fled, and said to Achazyahu, Treachery, Achazyahu.
23 Então Jorão deu meia-volta e fugiu, gritando para Acazias: — É uma traição, Acazias!
24 And Jehu grasped the bow with his full strength, and struck Jehoram between his arms, and the arrow went out at his heart, and he sunk down in his chariot.
24 Mas Jeú entesou o seu arco com toda a força e atingiu Jorão entre os ombros; a flecha atravessou o coração, e ele caiu morto no seu carro de guerra.
25 Then said he to Bidkar his officer, Lift up, and cast him down in the part of the field that was Naboths the Yizreelite; for remember how that I and thou rode alongside each other after Achab his father, when the Lord pronounced over him this fatal decree:
25 Então Jeú disse a Bidcar, seu capitão: — Levante-o e jogue-o no campo que era de Nabote, o jezreelita. Lembre-se de que, quando eu e você, juntos, vínhamos andando a cavalo atrás de Acabe, o pai de Jorão, o
26 Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth, and the blood of his sons, saith the Lord; and I will repay thee in this part of the field, saith the Lord. And now lift up, and cast him down into the field, according to the word of the Lord.
26 “Tão certo como vi ontem à tarde o sangue de Nabote e o sangue de seus filhos, diz o Senhor , assim neste campo eu darei a retribuição que você merece”, diz o Senhor . Agora, pois, pegue-o e jogue-o neste campo, segundo a palavra do Senhor .
27 And when Achazyahu the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the way of the gardenhouse; but Jehu pursued after him, and said, Also him smite in the chariot. And they did so on the ascent to Gur, which is by Yibleam. And he fled to Megiddo, and died there.
27 À vista disto, Acazias, rei de Judá, fugiu pelo caminho de Bete-Hagã. Mas Jeú o perseguiu e disse: — Matem também a este! E eles o atingiram dentro do carro de guerra, na subida de Gur, perto de Ibleão. Acazias fugiu para Megido, onde morreu.
28 And his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in his sepulchre with his fathers in the city of David.
28 Os servos dele o levaram, num carro, para Jerusalém e o sepultaram no seu túmulo junto a seus pais, na Cidade de Davi.
29 And in the eleventh year of Joram the son of Achab became Achazyah king over Judah.
29 Acazias havia começado a reinar sobre Judá no décimo primeiro ano do reinado de Jorão, filho de Acabe.
30 And Jehu came to Yizreel; and when Izebel heard of it, she painted her eyes, and ornamented her head, and looked out at the window.
30 Jeú chegou a Jezreel, e Jezabel ficou sabendo disso. Então ela se pintou em volta dos olhos, enfeitou a cabeça e olhou pela janela.
31 And as Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, Is it peace, O Zimri, who hath slain his master?
31 Quando Jeú entrou pelo portão do palácio, ela gritou: — Correu tudo bem com Zinri, o assassino do seu senhor?
32 And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three chamberlains.
32 Jeú ergueu o rosto, olhou para a janela e perguntou: — Quem está do meu lado? Quem? E dois ou três oficiais olharam para ele.
33 And he said, Pitch her down. So they pitched her down: and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses; and he trod her under foot.
33 Então ele disse: — Joguem-na pela janela! E eles a jogaram. O sangue dela salpicou a parede e os cavalos, e Jeú a atropelou.
34 And he came in, and ate and drank; and then said he, Look, I pray you, after this accursed one, and bury her; for she is a kings daughter.
34 Jeú entrou no palácio, comeu e bebeu. Depois disse: — Tomem conta daquela maldita e sepultem o corpo, porque ela é filha de rei.
35 And they went to bury her: but they found nothing of her but the skull, and the feet, and the palms of the hands.
35 Mas os que foram sepultá-la não acharam dela nada mais do que a caveira, os pés e as palmas das mãos.
36 And they returned, and told him; and he said, It is the word of the Lord, which he spoke by means of his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the field of Yizreel shall the dogs eat the flesh of Izebel:
36 Então voltaram e contaram isso a Jeú. Ele disse: — Esta é a palavra do
37 And the carcass of Izebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Yizreel; so that they shall not say, This is Izebel.
37 O cadáver de Jezabel será como esterco sobre a terra no campo de Jezreel, de maneira que ninguém poderá dizer: ‘Esta é Jezabel.’”
