1 Twelve years old was Manasseh when he became king, and fifty and five years did he reign in Jerusalem.
1 Manassés tinha 12 anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou em Jerusalém por 55 anos.
2 And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, after the abominable acts of the nations whom the Lord had driven out from before the children of Israel.
2 Fez o que era mau aos olhos do S enhor e seguiu as práticas detestáveis das nações que o S enhor havia expulsado de diante dos israelitas.
3 And he built again the highplaces which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he erected altars for the Bealim, and made Asheroth, and bowed himself down to all the host of heaven, and served them.
3 Reconstruiu os santuários idólatras que seu pai, Ezequias, havia destruído. Construiu altares para Baal e ergueu postes de Aserá. Também se curvou diante de todos os astros dos céus e lhes prestou culto.
4 And he built altars in the house of the Lord, whereof the Lord had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever.
4 Construiu altares idólatras no templo do S enhor , sobre o qual o S enhor tinha dito: “Meu nome permanecerá em Jerusalém para sempre”.
5 And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord.
5 Nos dois pátios do templo do S enhor , construiu altares para os astros do céu.
6 And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of Benhinnom: he also observed times, and employed enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with those of a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he did much that is evil in the eyes of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.
6 Manassés também sacrificou seus filhos no fogo no vale de Ben-Hinom. Praticou feitiçaria, adivinhação e magia e consultou médiuns e praticantes do ocultismo. Fez muitas coisas perversas aos olhos do S enhor e, com isso, provocou sua ira.
7 And he placed a carved image of the idol which he had made in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have made choice of out of all the tribes of Israel, will I place my name for ever.
7 Manassés chegou a fazer uma imagem esculpida e colocá-la no templo de Deus, sobre o qual Deus tinha dito a Davi e a seu filho Salomão: “Meu nome será honrado para sempre neste templo e em Jerusalém, a cidade que escolhi dentre todas as tribos de Israel.
8 Nor will I any more remove the foot of Israel from off the land which I have appointed for your fathers; but only if they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.
8 Se os israelitas tiverem o cuidado de obedecer a meus mandamentos, todas as leis, estatutos e decretos que meu servo Moisés lhes deu, não os expulsarei desta terra que dei a seus antepassados”.
9 But Menasseh led Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem astray, to do worse than the nations whom the Lord had destroyed from before the children of Israel.
9 Manassés, porém, levou o povo de Judá e de Jerusalém a fazer coisas piores do que as nações que o S enhor tinha destruído diante dos israelitas.
10 And the Lord spoke to Menasseh, and to his people; but they listened not.
10 O S enhor falou a Manassés e a seu povo, mas eles ignoraram seus avisos.
11 Wherefore the Lord brought over them the captains of the army belonging to the king of Assyria: and they took Menasseh prisoner with chains, and bound him with fetters, and led him off to Babylon.
11 Por isso, o S enhor enviou os comandantes dos exércitos assírios, e eles capturaram Manassés. Puseram um gancho em seu nariz, o prenderam com correntes de bronze e o levaram para a Babilônia.
12 And when he was in distress, he besought the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.
12 Em sua angústia, Manassés buscou o S enhor , seu Deus, e se humilhou com sinceridade diante do Deus de seus antepassados.
13 And he prayed unto him, and he permitted himself to be entreated by him, and heard his supplication, and brought him back to Jerusalem, unto his kingdom. Then did Menasseh feel conscious that the Lord is indeed the true God.
13 Quando ele orou, Deus ouviu sua súplica, atendeu a seu pedido e o trouxe de volta a Jerusalém e a seu reino. Então Manassés reconheceu que o S enhor é Deus.
14 And after this he built a wall without the city of David, on the west side of Gichon, in the valley, even to the entrance of the fishgate, and about the hillfort, and raised it up to a very great height; and he placed captains of the army in all the fortified cities of Judah.
14 Depois disso, Manassés reconstruiu o muro externo da Cidade de Davi, bem alto, desde o oeste da fonte de Giom, no vale de Cedrom, até a porta do Peixe e ao redor da colina de Ofel. Colocou comandantes militares em todas as cidades fortificadas de Judá.
15 And he removed the strange gods and the idol out of the house of the Lord, and all the altars that he had built on the mount of the house of the Lord, and in Jerusalem, and he cast them forth to without the city.
15 Manassés também removeu do templo do S enhor os deuses estrangeiros e o ídolo que havia colocado ali. Derrubou todos os altares que havia construído na colina do templo e todos os altares em Jerusalém e os jogou fora da cidade.
16 And he rebuilt the altar of the Lord, and sacrificed thereupon peaceofferings and thanksgivingofferings, and he ordered Judah to serve the Lord the God of Israel.
16 Depois, restaurou o altar do S enhor e apresentou sobre ele sacrifícios de paz e ofertas de gratidão. Também incentivou o povo de Judá a adorar o S enhor , o Deus de Israel.
17 Nevertheless the people sacrificed on the highplaces, but only unto the Lord their God.
17 O povo continuou a sacrificar naqueles lugares de adoração, mas somente ao S enhor , seu Deus.
18 And the rest of the acts of Menasseh, and his prayer unto his God, and the words of the seers that spoke to him in the name of the Lord the God of Israel, behold, they are in the history of the kings of Israel.
18 Os demais acontecimentos do reinado de Manassés, sua oração a Deus e as palavras que os videntes lhe disseram em nome do S enhor , o Deus de Israel, estão registrados no Livro dos Reis de Israel .
19 His prayer also, and how God was entreated of him, and all his sins and his faithlessness, and the places whereon he built highplaces, and set up the Asherim and the graven images, before he was humbled: behold, they are written in the history of Chozai.
19 A oração de Manassés, o modo como Deus lhe respondeu e um relato de todos os seus pecados e de sua infidelidade se encontram no Registro dos Videntes . Inclui uma lista dos locais onde ele construiu altares idólatras e levantou postes de Aserá e ídolos antes de se humilhar e se arrepender.
20 And Menasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house. And Amon his son became king in his stead.
20 Quando Manassés morreu e se reuniu a seus antepassados, foi sepultado em seu palácio. Seu filho Amom foi seu sucessor.
21 Two and twenty years old was Amon when he became king, and two years did he reign in Jerusalem.
21 Amom tinha 22 anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou em Jerusalém por dois anos.
22 And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, as Menasseh his father had done; and unto all the carved images which Menasseh his father had made did Amon sacrifice, and them he served;
22 Fez o que era mau aos olhos do S enhor , como seu pai, Manassés. Adorou todos os ídolos que seu pai havia feito e lhes ofereceu sacrifícios.
23 But he did not humble himself before the Lord, as Menasseh his father had humbled himself; for he, Amon, made his guiltiness great.
23 Mas, ao contrário de seu pai, não se humilhou diante do S enhor . Em vez disso, Amom pecou ainda mais.
24 And his servants conspired against him, and put him to death in his own house.
24 Os próprios oficiais de Amom conspiraram contra ele e o assassinaram em seu palácio.
25 But the people of the land slew all those that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.
25 O povo de Judá, porém, matou todos que haviam conspirado contra o rei Amom e proclamou seu filho Josias como rei em seu lugar.
