1 And all the people of Judah took Uzziyahu, who was then sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amazyahu.
1 No lugar de Amazias o povo de Judá pôs como rei o seu filho Uzias, que tinha dezesseis anos de idade.
2 He it was that built Eloth, and brought it back to Judah, after the king slept with his fathers.
2 Depois da morte do pai, Uzias reconquistou e construiu de novo a cidade de Elate.
3 Sixteen years old was Uzziyahu when he became king, and fifty and two years did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mothers name was Yecholyah of Jerusalem.
3 Uzias se tornou rei aos dezesseis anos de idade. Ele governou cinquenta e dois anos em Jerusalém. A sua mãe se chamava Jecolias e era da cidade de Jerusalém.
4 And he did what is right in the eyes of the Lord, in accordance with all that his father Amazyahu had done.
4 Seguindo o exemplo do seu pai, Uzias fez aquilo que agrada a Deus, o Senhor .
5 And he was inclined to seek God in the days of Zecharyahu, who had understanding in the visions of God; and during the time that he sought the Lord, God caused him to prosper.
5 Enquanto Zacarias viveu, Uzias serviu a Deus fielmente, pois Zacarias o ensinou a respeitar o Senhor . Durante esse tempo Deus o abençoou.
6 And he went forth and made war against the Philistines, and he broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in the country of Ashdod, and among the Philistines.
6 Uzias fez guerra contra os filisteus e derrubou as muralhas das cidades de Gate, de Jâmnia e de Asdode; depois construiu cidades protegidas por muralhas perto de Asdode e em outros lugares da região dos filisteus.
7 And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gurbaal, and the Meunim.
7 Deus o ajudou a derrotar os filisteus, os árabes que moravam em Gur-Baal e os meunitas.
8 And the Ammonites gave presents to Uzziyahu: and his name extended even to the entrance of Egypt; for he became exceedingly strong.
8 O poder de Uzias aumentou, e a sua fama se espalhou até o Egito; e os amonitas lhe pagavam impostos.
9 And Uzziyahu built towers in Jerusalem, above the cornergate, and above the valleygate, and at the angle, and made them strong.
9 A fim de tornar mais fortes as muralhas de Jerusalém, Uzias construiu torres no Portão da Esquina, no Portão do Vale e no lugar onde a muralha faz esquina.
10 He built also towers in the desert, and hewed out many wells; for he had much cattle, both in the lowlands and in the plain; also husbandmen, and vintners in the mountains, and in Carmel; for he loved husbandry.
10 Construiu também torres de vigia nos campos e abriu uma porção de poços, pois tinha muito gado, tanto nas planícies como nos planaltos de Judá. Tinha também homens trabalhando nas plantações de uvas e nas hortas das regiões montanhosas e nos campos férteis, pois se interessava pela agricultura.
11 Moreover Uzziyah had an army of fighting men, that went out to the host by bands, according to the number of those mustered of them through the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maasseyahu the overseer, under the supervision of Chananyahu, one of the kings captains.
11 Uzias tinha um exército de homens prontos para a guerra; eles marchavam para a batalha em grupos organizados de acordo com as listas que estavam aos cuidados do escrivão Jeiel e do oficial Maaseias. O chefe desses dois homens era Hananias, um dos generais do rei.
12 The whole number of the chiefs of the family divisions of the mighty men of valor was two thousand and six hundred.
12 O exército era comandado por dois mil e seiscentos chefes de famílias, todos eles soldados valentes.
13 And under their supervision was an efficient army, of three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
13 Eles comandavam um exército poderoso de trezentos e sete mil e quinhentos soldados, que estava à disposição do rei nas suas lutas contra os seus inimigos.
14 And Uzziyahu prepared for them, for all the host, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, and stones for slinging.
14 Uzias armou os seus soldados com escudos , lanças, capacetes, couraças , arcos e flechas, e fundas para atirar pedras.
15 And he made in Jerusalem artificial contrivances, contrived by a skilful man, to be stationed on the towers and upon the ramparts, to shoot off arrows and great stones. And his name extended ever so far abroad; for he was marvelously assisted, till he became strong.
15 Em Jerusalém os seus engenheiros construíram máquinas de guerra que eram postas nas torres e nas esquinas das muralhas, a fim de atirarem flechas e pedras grandes. A fama de Uzias se espalhou por toda parte. E ele se tornou muito poderoso, pois Deus o ajudava.
16 But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction; and he became unfaithful against the Lord his God, and went into the temple of the Lord to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
16 Porém, quando se tornou assim poderoso, Uzias ficou cheio de orgulho, e essa foi a sua desgraça. Ele pecou contra o Senhor , seu Deus, pois entrou no Templo para queimar incenso no altar do incenso.
17 And there went in after him Azaryahu the priest, and with him were priests of the Lord, valiant men, to the number of eighty;
17 O Grande Sacerdote Azarias e oitenta sacerdotes corajosos entraram atrás do rei
18 And they stood forward against king Uzziyahu, and they said unto him, It is not for thee, O Uzziyahu, to burn incense unto the Lord, but for the priests the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; and it will not be for thy honor from the Lord God.
18 e o enfrentaram, dizendo: — Ó rei, o senhor não pode queimar incenso ao
19 But Uzziyahu became wroth, and in his hand was a censer to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even broke out on his forehead before the priests in the house of the Lord, above the altar of the incense.
19 Ao ouvir isso, Uzias ficou furioso com os sacerdotes. Ele estava ali no Templo, perto do altar do incenso, segurando o queimador de incenso. E, no momento em que ficou furioso, uma doença contagiosa da pele apareceu na sua testa.
20 And when Azaryahu the chief priest, with all the priests, turned about toward him, behold, he was leprous on his forehead, and they hurried him away from there: yea, he also made haste to go out, because the Lord had afflicted him.
20 Azarias e os sacerdotes, vendo que ele estava com aquela terrível doença, o expulsaram imediatamente do Templo. E ele mesmo tratou de sair depressa, pois o Senhor Deus o havia castigado.
21 And king Uzziyahu was a leper until the day of his death, and dwelt in the leperhouse, as a leper; for he was excluded from the house of the Lord: and Jotham his son was over the kings house, and judged the people of the land.
21 O rei Uzias sofreu dessa doença até morrer. E, por ter ficado impuro , ele morava numa casa separada e ficou proibido de entrar no Templo. O seu filho Jotão era quem mandava no palácio e governava o país.
22 And the rest of the acts of Uzziyahu, the first and the last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amos write.
22 Todas as outras coisas que Uzias fez, desde o começo até o fim do seu reinado, foram escritas pelo profeta Isaías, filho de Amoz.
23 And Uzziyahu slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the burialfield which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is a leper: and Jotham his son became king in his stead.
23 Uzias morreu e foi sepultado no cemitério dos reis em Jerusalém, mas não nos túmulos dos reis, por causa da sua doença. E o seu filho Jotão ficou no lugar dele como rei.
