1 And in the seventh year Yehoyada’ strengthened himself, and took the captains of the hundreds, ‘Azaryah the son of Jerocham and Yishma’el the son of Jehochanan, and ‘Azaryahu the son of ‘Obed, and Ma’asseyahu the son of ‘Adayahu, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri, with him into a covenant.
1 E no sétimo ano, Joiada se fortaleceu e tomou consigo em pacto os capitães de centúrias, Azarias, o filho de Jeroão, e Ismael, o filho de Joanã, e Azarias, o filho de Obede, e Maaseias, o filho de Adaías, e Elisafate, o filho de Zicri.
2 And they moved about in Judah, and gathered the Levites together out of all the cities of Judah, and the heads of the families of Israel; and they came to Jerusalem.
2 E eles saíram por Judá e reuniram os levitas de todas as cidades de Judá, e os chefes dos pais de Israel, e vieram a Jerusalém.
3 And all the congregation made a covenant in the house of God with the king. And he said unto them, Behold, the king’s son shall be king, as the Lord hath spoken concerning the sons of David.
3 E toda a congregação fez um pacto com o rei na casa de Deus. E ele lhes disse: Eis que o filho do rei reinará, como o SENHOR tem dito acerca dos filhos de Davi.
4 This is the thing that ye shall do, A third part of you that enter in on the sabbath, of the priests and of the Levites, shall be gatekeepers at the thresholds;
4 Isto é o que haveis de fazer: uma terça parte de vós, dos sacerdotes e dos levitas que entram no shabat, será guardas das portas;
5 And a third part shall be at the king’s house; and a third part at the foundation–gate; and all the people shall be in the courts of the house of the Lord.
5 e uma terça parte estará junto à casa do rei; e uma terça parte junto ao portão do fundamento; e todo o povo estará nos átrios da casa do SENHOR.
6 But let none come into the house of the Lord, save the priests, and they that minister of the Levites: they shall enter, for they are holy; but all the people shall keep the charge of the Lord.
6 Porém, que ninguém entre na casa do SENHOR, exceto os sacerdotes e aqueles que ministram dos levitas; eles entrarão, porque eles são santos; mas todo o povo deve guardar a vigília do SENHOR.
7 And the Levites shall encompass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand: and he who cometh into the house shall be put to death; and be ye with the king when he cometh in, and when he goeth out.
7 E os levitas cercarão o rei em redor, cada homem com as suas armas na sua mão; e qualquer outro que entrar na casa, este será levado à morte; mas estejais com o rei quando ele entrar e quando ele sair.
8 And the Levites and all Judah did in accordance with all that Yehoyada’ the priest had commanded, and they took every man his men that came in on the sabbath, with those that were to be relieved on the sabbath; for Yehoyada’ the priest had not dismissed the divisions.
8 Assim, os levitas e todo o Judá fizeram segundo todas as coisas que Joiada, o sacerdote, havia ordenado, e tomaram cada qual os seus homens que deveriam entrar no shabat, com aqueles que deveriam sair no shabat, pois o sacerdote Joiada não despediu as turmas.
9 And Yehoyada’ the priest gave to the captains of the hundreds the spears, and the shields, and the quivers, that belonged to king David, which were in the house of God.
9 Além disso, Joiada, o sacerdote, entregou aos capitães das centúrias lanças e broquéis, e escudos, que pertenciam ao rei Davi, os quais estavam na casa de Deus.
10 And he placed all the people, every man having his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left side of the house, along by the altar and the temple, all round about the king,
10 E ele posicionou todo o povo, cada um com as suas armas na mão, desde o lado direito do templo até o lado esquerdo do templo, do lado do altar e do templo, em redor do rei.
11 Then did they bring forth the king’s son, and put upon him the crown, and gave him the testimony, and they made him king. And Yehoyada’ and his sons anointed him, and said, Long live the king.
11 Então, retiraram o filho do rei, e puseram sobre ele a coroa, e deram-lhe o testemunho, e o fizeram rei. E Joiada e os seus filhos o ungiram, e disseram: Deus salve o rei.
12 And when ‘Athalyah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people into the house of the Lord.
12 Ora, quando Atalia ouviu o barulho do povo correndo e louvando o rei, veio ter com o povo na casa do SENHOR;
13 And she looked, and behold, the king stood upon his stand at the entrance, and the princes and the trumpets were around the king; and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew on trumpets; also the singers were there leading with instruments of music in the songs of praise; and ‘Athalyah rent her clothes, and said, "Treason, treason."
13 e ela olhou, e eis que o rei estava junto ao seu pilar, à entrada, e os príncipes e as trombetas junto ao rei; e todo o povo da terra se alegrou, e tocava trombetas, também os cantores com instrumentos de música, e assim também ensinavam a cantar louvor. Então, Atalia rasgou as suas vestes, e disse: Traição, traição.
14 But Yehoyada’ the priest ordered the captains of the hundreds, the commanders of the army, to go out, and said unto them, Lead her forth to within the ranges; and he that followeth her shall be put to death with the sword. For the priest had said, Ye shall not put her to death in the house of the Lord.
14 Então Joiada, o sacerdote, trouxe para fora os capitães de centúrias que foram colocados sobre o exército, e disse-lhes: Ponham-na para fora das fileiras; e quem quer que a siga, seja morto com a espada. Porque o sacerdote disse: Não a matem na casa do SENHOR.
15 And they made way for her: and she went to the entrance of the horse–gate by the king’s house, and they put her to death there.
15 Assim, eles lançaram suas mãos sobre ela; quando ela chegou na entrada do Portão dos Cavalos, junto à casa do rei, eles ali a mataram.
16 And Yehoyada’ made a covenant between him, and between all the people, and between the king, that they should be a people unto the Lord.
16 E Joiada fez um pacto entre si, e entre todo o povo, e entre o rei, de que eles deveriam ser o povo do SENHOR.
17 And then came all the people into the house of Ba’al, and pulled it down, and his altars and his images did they break in pieces, and Mathhan the priest of Ba’al they slew before the altars.
17 Então, todo o povo foi até a casa de Baal e a puseram abaixo, e quebraram os seus altares e as suas imagens em pedaços, e mataram Matã, o sacerdote de Baal, diante dos altares.
18 And Yehoyada’ placed the supervision over the house of the Lord into the hand of the priests, the Levites, whom David had divided off over the house of the Lord, to offer the burnt–offerings of the Lord, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, after the manner of David.
18 Joiada também indicou os ofícios da casa do SENHOR por mão dos sacerdotes levitas, os quais Davi havia distribuído na casa do SENHOR, para oferecerem as ofertas queimadas do SENHOR, como está escrito na lei de Moisés, com júbilo e com cânticos, como foi ordenado por Davi.
19 And he appointed the gatekeepers over the gates of the house of the Lord, that none unclean in any thing should enter therein.
19 E ele pôs os porteiros junto aos portões da casa do SENHOR, para que não entrasse nela ninguém imundo em coisa alguma.
20 And he took the captains of the hundreds, and the nobles, and the governors over the people, and all the people of the land, and he brought down the king from the house of the Lord, and they came through the midst of the upper gate into the king’s house; and they caused the king to sit upon the throne of the kingdom.
20 E ele tomou os capitães de centúrias, e os nobres, e os governadores do povo, e todo o povo da terra e fez descer o rei da casa do SENHOR; e eles adentraram a casa do rei por intermédio do portão alto, e puseram o rei sobre o trono do reino.
21 And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet; but ‘Athalyahu they had slain with the sword.
21 E todo o povo da terra se alegrou; e a cidade ficou calma; depois deles terem matado Atalia com a espada.
