1 Now the Philistines assembled together all their camps at Aphek: and the Israelites encamped by the spring which is by Yizreel.
1 Os filisteus reuniram todas as suas tropas em Afeca. Enquanto isso, os israelitas acamparam perto da fonte que fica no vale de Jezreel.
2 And the lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds, and by thousands; but David and his men passed on at the last with Achish.
2 Os cinco governadores filisteus marcharam para lá com as suas tropas divididas em grupos de cem e de mil soldados. Davi e os seus homens marchavam atrás com Aquis.
3 Then said the princes of the Philistines, What are these Hebrews to do? And Achish said unto the princes of the Philistines, Behold, this is David, the servant of Saul the king of Israel, who hath been with me already a year, or even years, and I have not found the least in him to blame from the day of his joining me until this day?
3 Então os comandantes filisteus perguntaram: — O que é que estes hebreus estão fazendo aqui? Aquis respondeu: — Este é Davi, um oficial de Saul, o rei de Israel. Ele está comigo já faz algum tempo, desde que se revoltou contra Saul. E, desde o dia em que chegou, não o vi fazer nada de errado.
4 And the princes of the Philistines were angry with him; and the princes of the Philistines said unto him, Cause this man to go back, that he may return to his place whither thou hast assigned him; but he shall not go down with us to the battle, that he may not become an adversary to us in the battle; for wherewith could this person reconcile himself unto his master? is it not by means of the heads of these men?
4 Mas os comandantes filisteus ficaram muito zangados com Aquis e disseram: — Mande esse homem de volta para a cidade que você lhe deu. Não deixe que ele entre na batalha conosco; ele é capaz de virar contra nós durante a luta. Pois a melhor maneira de ele conseguir a boa vontade do seu patrão seria matar os nossos homens.
5 Is not this David, of whom they sang one to another in the dances, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?
5 Além disso, este é Davi, a respeito de quem as mulheres cantavam enquanto dançavam: “Saul matou mil; Davi matou dez mil!”
6 Then did Achish call David, and say unto him, As the Lord liveth, I declare that thou art upright, and that thy going out and thy coming in with me in the camp is good in my eyes; for I have not found in thee any evil from the day of thy coming unto me until this day; nevertheless in the eyes of the lords thou art not good.
6 Então Aquis chamou Davi e disse: — Juro pelo
7 And now return, and go in peace, that thou mayest not do any evil in the eyes of the lords of the Philistines.
7 Portanto, volte para casa em paz e não faça nada que possa desagradar a esses governadores.
8 And David said unto Achish, But what have I done? and what hast thou found in thy servant from the day that I have been before thee, until this day, that I shall not go to fight against the enemies of my Lord the king?
8 Davi respondeu: — O que foi que eu fiz de errado? Você não encontrou em mim nenhuma falta desde o dia em que comecei a trabalhar para você. Então por que não posso ir com você, que é o meu patrão e o meu rei, para lutar contra os seus inimigos?
9 And Achish answered and said to David, I know that thou art good in my eyes, as an angel of God; nevertheless, the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.
9 Aquis respondeu: — Eu sei disso e o considero tão fiel quanto um anjo de Deus. Mas os comandantes disseram que você não pode ir lutar conosco.
10 And now rise up early in the morning with the servants of thy master that are come with thee: and rise then up early in the morning, and when ye have light, go away.
10 Portanto, amanhã de manhã, você e os outros que abandonaram Saul e passaram para o meu lado, levantem-se bem cedo e vão embora logo que amanhecer.
11 And David and his men rose up early to go away in the morning, to return unto the land of the Philistines; but the Philistines went up to Yizreel.
11 Assim, no dia seguinte, Davi e os seus homens se levantaram de madrugada a fim de voltar para a Filisteia. E os filisteus subiram para Jezreel.
