1 And David said in his heart, Now I may yet perish suddenly one day by the hand of Saul; there is nothing better for me than that I should escape at once into the land of the Philistines, then Saul will abstain from me, to seek me any more in all the territory of Israel: and so shall I escape out of his hand.
1 E Davi disse no seu coração: Agora, hei de perecer, um dia, pela mão de Saul; não há nada melhor para mim do que fugir rapidamente para a terra dos filisteus; e Saul perderá a sua esperança sobre mim, de continuar a me buscar em todos os termos de Israel; assim escaparei da sua mão.
2 And David arose, and he passed over himself with the six hundred men that were with him unto Achish, the son of Ma’och, the king of Gath.
2 E Davi se levantou, e ele atravessou com os seiscentos homens que estavam com ele para Aquis, o filho de Maoque, rei de Gate.
3 And David remained with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, also David with his two wives, Achino’am the Yizre’elitess, and Abigayil, Nabal’s wife, the Carmelitess.
3 E Davi habitou com Aquis em Gate, ele e os seus homens, cada homem com a sua família; Davi com as suas duas esposas: Ainoã, a jezreelita; e Abigail, a carmelita, esposa de Nabal.
4 And when it was told unto Saul that David was fled to Gath, he continued no more to seek for him.
4 E Saul foi informado que Davi havia fugido para Gate; e não o buscou novamente.
5 And David said unto Achish, If now I have found grace in thy eyes, let them give me a place in some one of the country–towns, that I may dwell there; for why should thy servant dwell in the royal city with thee?
5 E Davi disse a Aquis: Se agora encontrei graça em teus olhos, permite que me deem um lugar em alguma cidade do país, para que eu possa lá habitar; pois por que o teu servo deveria habitar contigo na cidade real?
6 Then gave Achish unto him on that day Ziklag: therefore hath Ziklag pertained unto the kings of Judah until this day.
6 Então Aquis lhe deu Ziclague naquele dia; pelo que Ziclague pertence aos reis de Judá até este dia.
7 And the number of the days that David dwelt in the fields of the Philistines was a full year and four months.
7 E o tempo em que Davi habitou na região dos filisteus foi de um ano completo e quatro meses.
8 And David and his men went up, and invaded the Geshurites, and the Gizrites, and the ‘Amalekites; for these nations were of old the inhabitants of the land, till thou comest to Shur, and as far as the land of Egypt.
8 E Davi e os seus homens subiram, e invadiram os gesuritas, e os gersitas, e os amalequitas; pois estas nações eram há muito tempo os habitantes da terra, como quem vai para Sur até a terra do Egito.
9 And David smote the land, and left not alive either man or woman, and took away the flocks, and the oxen, and the asses, and the camels, and the apparel, and returned, and came to Achish.
9 E Davi feriu a terra, e não deixou nem homem nem mulher vivos, e tomou as ovelhas, e os bois, e os jumentos, e os camelos, e a indumentária, e retornou, e veio para Aquis.
10 And Achish said, Whither have ye made an inroad today? And David said, Against the south of Judah, and against the south of the Yerachmeelites, and against the south of the Kenites.
10 E Aquis disse: Para onde fizeste uma estrada hoje? E Davi disse: Contra o sul de Judá, e contra o sul dos jerameelitas, e contra o sul dos queneus.
11 And David left not alive either man or woman, to bring them to Gath, saying, That they may not tell on us, saying, So hath David done, and so is his custom all the days he hath dwelt in the fields of the Philistines.
11 E Davi não deixou nem homem, nem mulher vivos, para trazer notícias a Gate, dizendo: Para que não nos denunciem, dizendo: Assim fez Davi, e assim será o seu procedimento durante todo o tempo em que habitar na região dos filisteus.
12 And Achish had confidence in David, saying, He hath surely spoiled his odor among his people, among Israel; and he will become unto me a servant for ever.
12 E Aquis acreditou em Davi, dizendo: Ele fez com que o seu povo, Israel, o abominasse por completo; portanto será meu servo para sempre.
