Leeser Old Testament (LEESER) vs ARA
1 Then said Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilad, unto Achab, As the Lord the God of Israel liveth, before whom I have stood, there shall not be in these years dew or rain, except according to my word.
1 Então, Elias, o tesbita, dos moradores de Gileade, disse a Acabe: Tão certo como vive o Senhor , Deus de Israel, perante cuja face estou, nem orvalho nem chuva haverá nestes anos, segundo a minha palavra.
2 And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,
2 Veio-lhe a palavra do Senhor , dizendo:
3 Go away from here, and turn thyself eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Kerith, which is to the east of the Jordan.
3 Retira-te daqui, vai para o lado oriental e esconde-te junto à torrente de Querite, fronteira ao Jordão.
4 And it shall be, that out of the brook shalt thou drink; and the ravens have I ordained to sustain thee there.
4 Beberás da torrente; e ordenei aos corvos que ali mesmo te sustentem.
5 And he went and did according to the word of the Lord; and he went and remained by the brook Kerith, that is to the east of the Jordan.
5 Foi, pois, e fez segundo a palavra do Senhor ; retirou-se e habitou junto à torrente de Querite, fronteira ao Jordão.
6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening: and out of the brook he used to drink.
6 Os corvos lhe traziam pela manhã pão e carne, como também pão e carne ao anoitecer; e bebia da torrente.
7 And it came to pass after a while that the brook dried up; because there had been no rain in the land.
7 Mas, passados dias, a torrente secou, porque não chovia sobre a terra.
8 And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,
8 Então, lhe veio a palavra do Senhor , dizendo:
9 Arise, go unto Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and remain there: behold, I have ordained there a widowwoman to sustain thee.
9 Dispõe-te, e vai a Sarepta, que pertence a Sidom, e demora-te ali, onde ordenei a uma mulher viúva que te dê comida.
10 So he arose and went to Zarephath; and when he came to the gate of the city, behold, there was there a widowwoman gathering sticks of wood: and he called her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
10 Então, ele se levantou e se foi a Sarepta; chegando à porta da cidade, estava ali uma mulher viúva apanhando lenha; ele a chamou e lhe disse: Traze-me, peço-te, uma vasilha de água para eu beber.
11 And as she went to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thy hand.
11 Indo ela a buscá-la, ele a chamou e lhe disse: Traze-me também um bocado de pão na tua mão.
12 And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have nothing baked, but a handful of meal in a jar, and a little oil in a cruise: and, behold, I am gathering a couple of sticks, that I may go in and prepare it for me and my son; and when we have eaten it, we shall have to die.
12 Porém ela respondeu: Tão certo como vive o Senhor , teu Deus, nada tenho cozido; há somente um punhado de farinha numa panela e um pouco de azeite numa botija; e, vês aqui, apanhei dois cavacos e vou preparar esse resto de comida para mim e para o meu filho; comê-lo-emos e morreremos.
13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said; but make me thereof a little cake at first, and bring it out unto me, and for thee and for thy son shalt thou prepare something afterward.
13 Elias lhe disse: Não temas; vai e faze o que disseste; mas primeiro faze dele para mim um bolo pequeno e traze-mo aqui fora; depois, farás para ti mesma e para teu filho.
14 For thus hath said the Lord the God of Israel, The jar of meal shall not fail, neither shall the cruise of oil diminish, until the day that the Lord giveth rain upon the face of the earth.
14 Porque assim diz o Senhor , Deus de Israel: A farinha da tua panela não se acabará, e o azeite da tua botija não faltará, até ao dia em que o Senhor fizer chover sobre a terra.
15 And she went and did according to the word of Elijah: and she, and he, and her household, did eat many days.
15 Foi ela e fez segundo a palavra de Elias; assim, comeram ele, ela e a sua casa muitos dias.
16 The jar of meal failed not, nor did the cruise of oil diminish, according to the word of the Lord, which he had spoken through means of Elijah.
16 Da panela a farinha não se acabou, e da botija o azeite não faltou, segundo a palavra do Senhor , por intermédio de Elias.
17 And it came to pass after these events, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness became very severe, until that at length there was no breath left in him.
17 Depois disto, adoeceu o filho da mulher, da dona da casa, e a sua doença se agravou tanto, que ele morreu.
18 And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O man of God? thou art come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son!
18 Então, disse ela a Elias: Que fiz eu, ó homem de Deus? Vieste a mim para trazeres à memória a minha iniquidade e matares o meu filho?
19 And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into the upper chamber, in which he abode, and he laid him upon his own bed.
19 Ele lhe disse: Dá-me o teu filho; tomou-o dos braços dela, e o levou para cima, ao quarto, onde ele mesmo se hospedava, e o deitou em sua cama;
20 And he called unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?
20 então, clamou ao Senhor e disse: Ó Senhor , meu Deus, também até a esta viúva, com quem me hospedo, afligiste, matando-lhe o filho?
21 And he stretched himself out over the child three times, and called unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, let, I pray thee, the soul of this child return again within him.
21 E, estendendo-se três vezes sobre o menino, clamou ao Senhor e disse: Ó Senhor , meu Deus, rogo-te que faças a alma deste menino tornar a entrar nele.
22 And the Lord listened to the voice of Elijah: and the soul of the child returned into him, and he revived.
22 O Senhor atendeu à voz de Elias; e a alma do menino tornou a entrar nele, e reviveu.
23 And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the upper chamber into the house, and gave him unto his mother; and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.
23 Elias tomou o menino, e o trouxe do quarto à casa, e o deu a sua mãe, e lhe disse: Vê, teu filho vive.
24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this do I know, that thou art a man of God, and the word of the Lord in thy mouth is truth.
24 Então, a mulher disse a Elias: Nisto conheço agora que tu és homem de Deus e que a palavra do Senhor na tua boca é verdade.
