5 yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Taqa yaq-te, Mbumbukiam-qa Manqat, āv qane-peawáp nqǽgo,
6 Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.
7 Nginik nandi, gigiap-qapé zo-te, zo ndozo-unimanqatinat. Geté tiqa yaq-te ndigu, unimanqatinteav ndigu, Mbumbukiam-qa Manqat, āv qane-eín nqǽgo,
7 To you therefore who believe {is} the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of {the} corner,
8 Neka manqat nøme, āv qane-eín nqǽgo,
8 and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; {who} stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.
9 Geté zo viní. Zo Mbumbukiam-qá bawán. Ndego zo ekezan ndøveatáz. Zo Kawa Kandambaqape-gí iziz ezoqám. Ndego zo ekezan nonqo me꞉kház. 9 But *ye* {are} a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;
10 Ibugukhokhof, zo Mbumbukiam-gi ezoqam goneáv. Geté ndakin, zo tegí ezoqám. Ibugukhokhof, zo Mbumbukiam-qa tanakh matev ndapeáv. Geté ndakin, zo mòzondapém.
10 who once {were} not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.

11 Beloved, I exhort {you}, as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 Geté zo ezoqa mokho-te nandozo-yageap, ndigu Mbumbukiam zøtezateav ndigu, zo matev eqeieqeí qane-yageáp. Yaq ndigu zo manqa-zapa-us ndizæza, ndigu segé-matøvemém, zoqa matev eqeieqeí. Yaq até ndigú-a, tìabiti-unimanqatiním, yaq Mbumbukiam-qa iz vǿ-eqanēm, ta khøuwa-te ndøgo, tendowav.
12 having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that {as to that} in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through {your} good works, {themselves} witnessing {them}, glorify God in {the} day of visitation.
13 Zo Evezøza-gi ezoqam ndozogo, zo megetapak-qá mokho-té qanu꞉gú. Oskiá ndøgo, kawa ezoqam kandambaqape ndego,

14 or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.
15 Zapa ndǿgo, Mbumbukiam-qa poev av nqǽgo: Zo matev eqeieqei mba tozogoat, yaq ndigu ezoqam, zoqa yaq-te khokho manqat ndimanqate, tiqa manqat gé꞉khoutáv.
15 Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;
16 Zo Mbumbukiam genqovotaz, zo ndømatàva᷄p, av nqægo, “Ni nqovotønāt. Yaq matev soqøsoqa sizīgoāt.” Āv taoká. Zo ndakin Mbumbukiam-gí pingim-ák. Yaq kopømba mbaín, matev sa tozo-matønumat, av zøkeza poev ndægo.
16 as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.
17 Zo ezoqa ewaqape gèzøvizáp, neka Klisten zøfuap-te kuku bezøgó, neka Mbumbukiam, møe-us mbovizáp, neka gaman kawa kandambaqape vozombó-vizupāt.
17 Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.
18 Zo sasae ezoqam, zo zøkeza megetapak-qá mokho-té qanu꞉gú. Gèzøvizáp. Ambá ti-mba ndīgu, ezoqa mbomømboma, zo matev eqeieqei ndizø-matanam, geté até ndigú-a, sasanqa ndigu.
18 Servants, {be} subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.
19 Gekha ezoqām ndego, Mbumbukiam-qa matev ndembopaev, yaq ta zapaya ndøgo, ngenøgim matev tendap, yaq ndego ta nqosøgeap ndøgo sa te-eqatat, Mbumbukiam khanakhanákh te-te.
19 For this {is} acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.
20 Geté zo matev soqøsoqa tozogoat, yaq ta zapaya ndøgo, yaq-fia nqosøgeap tozondapem, yaq ge zô ndozo-matavap, Mbumbukiam kopømbâ, khanakhanâkh zo-te? Āv taoká. Geté ndego zo-te, khanakhanakh ndǿgo tømbógoát, zo matev eqeieqei tozogoat, yaq ta zapaya ndøgo nqosøgeap tozo-upøgimat.
20 For what glory {is it}, if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear {it}? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear {it}, this is acceptable with God.
21 Zo Mbumbukiam ndǿgo tezømbe-akhá. Zapa ndǿgo, até Kelisó-a, zo nonqo, nqosøgeap ndøndáp. Ndego zo gè꞉zømás, zo tømbø̄e-paevem-a.
21 For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:
22 Ndego manqa-zapa goneáv, neka teqa tou-te meakha manqat fakhaneáv.
22 who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;
23 Ndigu gingenøitat, yaq ndego ngenøgim manqat qavøiwateáv, neka nqosøgeap gimbo-etøomem, yaq ndego utøve manqat einiáv. Geté ndego ekeza kha, Mbumbukiam-qá zenda-té genøvé. Zapa ndǿgo, ndego mø̀ndæ-otév, Mbumbukiam manqa ovøyam ezoqam eqeieqeí.
23 who, {when} reviled, reviled not again; {when} suffering, threatened not; but gave {himself} over into the hands of him who judges righteously;
24 Niqa manqa-zapazapa, Keliso ekezan, tae mutui-té genøndáp, vø̄-evøzam. Ndego tenegoám ndǿgo: Ni manqa-zapazapa matanam-te, andé løvøte ezoqam me zí꞉goát, neka matev eqeieqei-té qabizi-yagé. Zo teqa nqamav mokho-té qazonø-eqeieqei-éz.
24 who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.
25 Zo bugukhokhof, andé sip me zøtegoám. Zò-ewáz. Geté ndakin zøkeza sip keoge ezoqam-té qazonø-veséz, ndego zoqa yage, eqeieqei ndembo-keoge.
25 For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
