¹ To the chief Musician upon Gittith,

¹ Cantai alegremente a Deus, nossa fortaleza; celebrai o Deus de Jacó.

² Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.

² Tomai o saltério e trazei o adufe, a harpa suave e o alaúde.

³ Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

³ Tocai a trombeta na Festa da Lua Nova, no tempo marcado para a nossa solenidade.

⁸ Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;

⁹ There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.

⁹ Não haverá entre ti deus alheio, nem te prostrarás ante um deus estranho.

¹⁰ Eu sou o Senhor , teu Deus, que te tirei da terra do Egito; abre bem a tua boca, e ta encherei.

¹¹ But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.

¹¹ Mas o meu povo não quis ouvir a minha voz, e Israel não me quis.

¹² So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust:

¹² Pelo que eu os entreguei aos desejos do seu coração, e andaram segundo os seus próprios conselhos.

¹³ Oh that my people had hearkened unto me,

¹³ Ah! Se o meu povo me tivesse ouvido! Se Israel andasse nos meus caminhos!

¹⁴ I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

¹⁵ Os que aborrecem ao Senhor ter-se-lhe-iam sujeitado, e o tempo dele seria eterno.

¹⁶ He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.
