1 Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance, and made a marriage alliance with Ahab.
1 Tinha Josafá riquezas e glória em abundância; e aparentou-se com Acabe.
2 And after certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that he had with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to Ramoth-gilead.
2 Ao cabo de alguns anos, foi ter com Acabe, em Samaria. Acabe matou ovelhas e bois em abundância, para ele e para o povo que viera com ele; e o persuadiu a subir, com ele, a Ramote-Gileade.
3 And Ahab king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Will you go with me to Ramoth-gilead? And he answered him, I am as you are, and my people as your people; and we will be with you in the war.
3 Acabe, rei de Israel, perguntou a Josafá, rei de Judá: Irás tu, comigo, a Ramote-Gileade? Respondeu-lhe Josafá: Serei como tu és, o meu povo, como o teu povo; iremos, contigo, à peleja.
4 And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Inquire, I pray you, for the word of the LORD today.
4 Disse mais Josafá ao rei de Israel: Consulta, primeiro, a palavra do Senhor .
5 Therefore the king of Israel gathered together of prophets four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver it into the king’s hand.
5 Então, o rei de Israel ajuntou os profetas, quatrocentos homens, e lhes disse: Iremos à peleja contra Ramote-Gileade ou deixarei de ir? Eles disseram:
6 But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might inquire of him?
6 Sobe, porque Deus a entregará nas mãos do rei. Disse, porém, Josafá: Não há, aqui, ainda algum profeta do Senhor , para o consultarmos?
7 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we may inquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he never prophesied good unto me, but always evil: the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
7 Respondeu o rei de Israel a Josafá: Há um ainda, por quem podemos consultar o Senhor ; porém eu o aborreço, porque nunca profetiza de mim o que é bom, mas somente o que é mau.
8 And the king of Israel called for one of his officers, and said, Bring quickly Micaiah the son of Imla.
8 Este é Micaías, filho de Inlá. Disse Josafá: Não fale o rei assim. Então, o rei de Israel chamou um oficial e disse: Traze-me depressa a Micaías, filho de Inlá.
9 And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah sat each of them on his throne, clothed in their robes, and they sat at a threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
9 O rei de Israel e Josafá, rei de Judá, estavam assentados, cada um no seu trono, vestidos de trajes reais, numa eira à entrada da porta de Samaria; e todos os profetas profetizavam diante deles.
10 And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah had made himself horns of iron, and said, Thus says the LORD, With these you shall push Syria until they are consumed.
10 Zedequias, filho de Quenaana, fez para si uns chifres de ferro e disse: Assim diz o Senhor : Com este, escornearás os siros, até de todo os consumir.
11 And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.
11 Todos os profetas profetizaram assim, dizendo: Sobe a Ramote-Gileade e triunfarás, porque o Senhor a entregará nas mãos do rei.
12 And the messenger that went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one assent; let your word therefore, I pray you, be like one of theirs, and speak you good.
12 O mensageiro que fora chamar a Micaías falou-lhe, dizendo: Eis que as palavras dos profetas, a uma voz, predizem coisas boas para o rei; seja, pois, a tua palavra como a palavra de um deles, e fala o que é bom.
13 And Micaiah said, As the LORD lives, even what my God says, that will I speak.
13 Respondeu Micaías: Tão certo como vive o Senhor , o que meu Deus me disser, isso falarei.
14 And when he had come to the king, the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And he said, Go you up, and prosper, and they shall be delivered into your hand.
14 E, vindo ele ao rei, este lhe perguntou: Micaías, iremos a Ramote-Gileade, à peleja, ou deixarei de ir? Ele respondeu: Sobe e triunfarás, porque eles serão entregues nas vossas mãos.
15 And the king said to him, How many times shall I make you swear that you say nothing but the truth to me in the name of the LORD?
15 O rei lhe disse: Quantas vezes te conjurarei que não me fales senão a verdade em nome do Senhor ?
16 Then he said, I did see all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master; let them return therefore every man to his house in peace.
16 Então, disse ele: Vi todo o Israel disperso pelos montes, como ovelhas que não têm pastor; e disse o Senhor : Estes não têm dono; torne cada um em paz para sua casa.
17 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good unto me, but evil?
17 Então, o rei de Israel disse a Josafá: Não te disse eu que ele não profetiza a meu respeito o que é bom, mas somente o que é mau?
18 Again he said, Therefore hear the word of the LORD; I saw the LORD sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.
18 Micaías prosseguiu: Ouvi, pois, a palavra do Senhor : Vi o Senhor assentado no seu trono, e todo o exército do céu estava à sua direita e à sua esquerda.
19 And the LORD said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one spoke saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.
19 Perguntou o Senhor : Quem enganará Acabe, o rei de Israel, para que suba e caia em Ramote-Gileade? Um dizia desta maneira, e outro, de outra.
20 Then there came out a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will entice him. And the LORD said unto him, By what means?
20 Então, saiu um espírito, e se apresentou diante do Senhor , e disse: Eu o enganarei. Perguntou-lhe o Senhor : Com quê?
21 And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the LORD said, You shall entice him, and you shall also prevail: go out, and do even so.
21 Respondeu ele: Sairei e serei espírito mentiroso na boca de todos os seus profetas. Disse o Senhor : Tu o enganarás e ainda prevalecerás; sai e faze-o assim.
22 Now therefore, behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets, and the LORD has spoken evil against you.
22 Eis que o Senhor pôs o espírito mentiroso na boca de todos estes teus profetas e o Senhor falou o que é mau contra ti.
23 Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and struck Micaiah upon the cheek, and said, Which way went the spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto you?
23 Então, Zedequias, filho de Quenaana, deu uma bofetada em Micaías e disse:
24 And Micaiah said, Behold, you shall see on that day when you shall go into an inner chamber to hide yourself.
24 Por onde saiu o Espírito do Senhor para falar a ti? Disse Micaías: Eis que o verás naquele mesmo dia, quando entrares de câmara em câmara, para te esconderes.
25 Then the king of Israel said, Take you Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;
25 Então, disse o rei de Israel: Tomai a Micaías e devolvei-o a Amom, governador da cidade, e a Joás, filho do rei;
26 And say, Thus says the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with little bread and with little water, until I return in peace.
26 e direis: Assim diz o rei: Metei este homem na casa do cárcere e angustiai-o com escassez de pão e de água, até que eu volte em paz.
27 And Micaiah said, If you ever return in peace, then has not the LORD spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, all you people.
27 Disse Micaías: Se voltares em paz, não falou o Senhor , na verdade, por mim. Disse mais: Ouvi isto, vós, todos os povos!
28 So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.
28 Subiram o rei de Israel e Josafá, rei de Judá, a Ramote-Gileade.
29 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and will go to the battle; but put you on your robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went to the battle.
29 Disse o rei de Israel a Josafá: Eu me disfarçarei e entrarei na peleja; tu, porém, traja as tuas vestes. Disfarçou-se, pois, o rei de Israel, e entraram na peleja.
30 Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots that were with him, saying, Fight you not with small or great, except only with the king of Israel.
30 Ora, o rei da Síria dera ordem aos capitães dos seus carros, dizendo: Não pelejareis nem contra pequeno nem contra grande, mas somente contra o rei de Israel.
31 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they surrounded him to fight: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God led them to depart from him.
31 Vendo os capitães dos carros a Josafá, disseram: Este é o rei de Israel. Portanto, a ele se dirigiram para o atacar. Josafá, porém, gritou, e o Senhor o socorreu; Deus os desviou dele.
32 For it came to pass, that, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back again from pursuing him.
32 Vendo os capitães dos carros que não era o rei de Israel, deixaram de o perseguir.
33 And a certain man drew a bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor: therefore he said to his chariot man, Turn your hand, that you may carry me out of the battle; for I am wounded.
33 Então, um homem entesou o arco e, atirando ao acaso, feriu o rei de Israel por entre as juntas da sua armadura; então, disse este ao seu cocheiro: Vira e leva-me para fora do combate, porque estou gravemente ferido.
34 And the battle increased that day: and the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the evening: and about the time of the sun going down he died.
34 A peleja tornou-se renhida naquele dia; quanto ao rei, segurou-se a si mesmo de pé no carro defronte dos siros, até à tarde, mas, ao pôr do sol, morreu.
