Neemias 8

1 And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the plaza that [was] before the water gate, and they spoke unto Ezra, the scribe, to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
1 E chegado o sétimo mês, e estando os filhos de Israel nas suas cidades, todo o povo se ajuntou como um só homem, na praça, diante da porta das águas; e disseram a Esdras, o escriba, que trouxesse o livro da lei de Moisés, que o SENHOR tinha ordenado a Israel.
2 And Ezra, the priest, brought the law before the congregation, both of men and women and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.
2 E Esdras, o sacerdote, trouxe a lei perante a congregação, tanto de homens como de mulheres, e todos os que podiam ouvir com entendimento, no primeiro dia do sétimo mês.
3 And he read in the [book] before the plaza that [was] before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people [were attentive] unto the book of the law.
3 E leu no livro diante da praça, que está diante da porta das águas, desde a alva até ao meio-dia, perante homens e mulheres, e os que podiam entender; e os ouvidos de todo o povo estavam atentos ao livro da lei.
4 And Ezra, the scribe, stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Urijah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchiah, Hashum, Hashbadana, Zechariah, [and] Meshullam.
4 E Esdras, o escriba, estava sobre um púlpito de madeira, que fizeram para aquele fim; e estava em pé junto a ele, à sua mão direita, Matitias, Sema, Anaías, Urias, Hilquias e Maaséias; e à sua mão esquerda, Pedaías, Misael, Melquias, Hasum, Hasbadana, Zacarias e Mesulão.
5 And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people (for he was above all the people), and when he opened it, all the people stood up:
5 E Esdras abriu o livro perante à vista de todo o povo; porque estava acima de todo o povo; e, abrindo-o ele, todo o povo se pôs em pé.
6 and Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, lifting up their hands; and they humbled themselves and worshipped the LORD with [their] faces to the ground.
6 E Esdras louvou ao Senhor, o grande Deus; e todo o povo respondeu: Amém, Amém! levantando as suas mãos; e inclinaram suas cabeças, e adoraram ao Senhor, com os rostos em terra.
7 And Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, [and] Pelaiah, Levites, caused the people to [be silent] that they might understand the law; and the people [were] in their place.
7 E Jesuá, Bani, Serebias, Jamim, Acube, Sabetai, Hodias, Maaséias, Quelita, Azarias, Jozabade, Hanã, Pelaías, e os levitas ensinavam o povo na lei; e o povo estava no seu lugar.
8 So they read in the book in the law of God clearly and paid attention, and understood the reading.
8 E leram no livro, na lei de Deus; e declarando, e explicando o sentido, faziam que, lendo, se entendesse.
9 And Nehemiah, the Tirshatha, and Ezra, the priest and scribe, and the Levites that caused the people to be attentive, said unto all the people, This day [is] holy unto the LORD your God; do not mourn nor weep. For all the people wept when they heard the words of the law.
9 E Neemias, que era o governador, e o sacerdote Esdras, o escriba, e os levitas que ensinavam ao povo, disseram a todo o povo: Este dia é consagrado ao Senhor vosso Deus, então não vos lamenteis, nem choreis. Porque todo o povo chorava, ouvindo as palavras da lei.
10 Then he said unto them, Go, eat the fat, and drink sweet wine, and send portions unto those who have nothing prepared; for [this] day [is] holy unto our Lord, and not sad; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
10 Disse-lhes mais: Ide, comei as gorduras, e bebei as doçuras, e enviai porções aos que não têm nada preparado para si; porque este dia é consagrado ao nosso Senhor; portanto não vos entristeçais; porque a alegria do Senhor é a vossa força.
11 So the Levites caused all the people to be silent, saying, Be silent, for the day [is] holy; neither be ye sad.
11 E os levitas fizeram calar a todo o povo, dizendo: Calai-vos; porque este dia é santo; por isso não vos entristeçais.
12 And all the people went to eat and to drink and to send portions and to rejoice with great joy because they had understood the words that were taught unto them.
12 Então todo o povo se foi a comer, a beber, a enviar porções e a fazer grande regozijo; porque entenderam as palavras que lhes fizeram saber.
13 And on the next day the princes of the families of all the people, the priests, and the Levites were gathered together unto Ezra, the scribe, to understand the words of the law.
13 E no dia seguinte ajuntaram-se os chefes dos pais de todo o povo, os sacerdotes e os levitas, a Esdras, o escriba; e isto para atentarem nas palavras da lei.
14 And they found written in the law, which the LORD had commanded by Moses, that the sons of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month
14 E acharam escrito na lei que o Senhor ordenara, pelo ministério de Moisés, que os filhos de Israel habitassem em cabanas, na solenidade da festa, no sétimo mês.
15 and that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities and in Jerusalem, saying, Go forth unto the mount and bring olive branches and pine branches and myrtle branches and palm branches and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as [it is] written.
15 Assim publicaram, e fizeram passar pregão por todas as suas cidades, e em Jerusalém, dizendo: Saí ao monte, e trazei ramos de oliveiras, e ramos de zambujeiros, e ramos de murtas, e ramos de palmeiras, e ramos de árvores espessas, para fazer cabanas, como está escrito.
16 So the people went forth and brought [them] and made themselves booths, each one upon the roof of his house and in their courts and in the courts of the house of God and in the plaza of the water gate and in the plaza of the gate of Ephraim.
16 Saiu, pois, o povo, e os trouxeram, e fizeram para si cabanas, cada um no seu terraço, nos seus pátios, e nos átrios da casa de Deus, na praça da porta das águas, e na praça da porta de Efraim.
17 And all the congregation of those that returned out of the captivity made booths and dwelt in the booths, for since the days of Jeshua, the son of Nun, unto that day, the sons of Israel had not done so. And there was very great joy.
17 E toda a congregação dos que voltaram do cativeiro fizeram cabanas, e habitaram nas cabanas, porque nunca fizeram assim os filhos de Israel, desde os dias de Jesua, filho de Num, até àquele dia; e houve mui grande alegria.
18 And Ezra read in the book of the law of God each day, from the first day unto the last day. And they kept the feast seven days, and on the eighth day [was] a solemn assembly, according to the ordinance.:
18 E, de dia em dia, Esdras leu no livro da lei de Deus, desde o primeiro dia até ao derradeiro; e celebraram a solenidade da festa sete dias, e no oitavo dia, houve uma assembléia solene, segundo o rito.
