1 [Aleph] How has the Lord darkened the daughter of Zion in his anger! He has cast down from heaven unto the earth the beauty of Israel and not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger!
1 Como cobriu o Senhor a filha de Sião com uma nuvem em sua fúria, e arremessou desde o céu para a terra a beleza de Israel, e não lembrou-se do escabelo de seus pés no dia da sua fúria!
2 [Beth] The Lord has destroyed and has not forgiven; he has destroyed in his wrath all the habitations of Jacob; he has thrown down to the ground the strong holds of the daughter of Judah; he has polluted the kingdom and its princes.
2 O Senhor devorou todas as habitações de Jacó, e não teve compaixão; ele abateu em sua ira as fortificações da filha de Judá; ele as derrubou ao chão; ele poluiu o reino e os seus príncipes.
3 [Gimel] He has cut off in [his] fierce anger all the horn of Israel; he has caused his right hand to draw back in the presence of the enemy, and he burned in Jacob like a flaming fire, [which] devours round about.
3 Em sua ira feroz, ele cortou todo o chifre de Israel; retirou a sua mão direita de perante o inimigo, e queimou contra Jacó como um fogo flamejante, o qual devora em redor.
4 [Daleth] He has bent his bow like an enemy; he strengthened his right hand as an adversary and slew everything of beauty that could be seen in the tent of the daughter of Zion; he poured out his fury like fire.
4 Ele retesou o seu arco como um inimigo; ele levantou com a sua mão direita como um adversário, e matou tudo o que era agradável aos olhos; no tabernáculo da filha de Sião; ele derramou a sua fúria como fogo.
5 [He] The Lord was as an enemy, he has destroyed Israel; he has destroyed all her palaces; he has dissipated his strong holds and has multiplied in the daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation.
5 O Senhor foi como um inimigo; ele tragou Israel; ele tragou todos os seus palácios; ele destruiu as suas fortificações, e aumentou na filha de Judá o pranto e o lamento.
6 [Vau] And he has violently taken away his tabernacle as [if it were of] a garden; he has destroyed his congregation; the LORD has caused the solemnities and sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion and has rejected in the indignation of his anger the king and the priest.
6 E ele violentamente removeu o seu tabernáculo, como se fosse um jardim; ele destruiu o lugar da sua assembleia; o SENHOR fez as festas solenes e os shabats esquecidos em Sião, e desprezou na indignação da sua fúria o rei e o sacerdote.
7 [Zain] The Lord has cast off his altar; he has abhorred his sanctuary; he has given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have shouted in the house of the LORD as in the day of a feast.
7 O Senhor desprezou o seu altar, ele detestou o seu santuário, ele entregou nas mãos do inimigo os muros dos seus palácios; eles fizeram um barulho na casa do SENHOR, como no dia de uma festa solene.
8 [Cheth] The LORD has purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion; he has stretched out the line; he has not withdrawn his hand from destroying; therefore he made the rampart and the wall to lament; they were destroyed together.
8 O SENHOR intentou destruir o muro da filha de Sião; ele estendeu um cordão, ele não retirou a sua mão da destruição; portanto ele fez lamentar o muro e a parede; eles definharam juntamente.
9 [Teth] Her gates were thrown to the ground; he has destroyed and broken her bars; her king and her princes [are carried off] among the Gentiles; there is no law; nor have her prophets found vision from the LORD.
9 Os seus portões afundaram ao chão; ele destruiu e quebrou as suas barras; o seu rei e os príncipes estão no meio dos gentios; a lei não existe mais; os seus profetas também não encontram visão do SENHOR.
10 [Jod] The elders of the daughter of Zion sat upon the ground [and] are silent: they have cast up dust upon their heads; they have girded themselves with sackcloth; the daughters of Jerusalem hung their heads down to the ground.
10 Os anciãos da filha de Sião sentam-se no chão, e ficam em silêncio; eles lançaram pó sobre as suas cabeças; cingiram-se de pano de saco; as virgens de Jerusalém inclinam as suas cabeças ao chão.
11 [Caph] My eyes fail with tears; my bowels are troubled; my liver is poured upon the earth, for the destruction of the daughter of my people because the children and the sucklings faint in the streets of the city.
11 Os meus olhos falham com lágrimas, minhas entranhas estão atribuladas, meu fígado está derramado sobre a terra, pela destruição da filha do meu povo; porque as crianças e os que estão amamentando desmaiam nas ruas da cidade.
12 [Lamed] They said to their mothers, Where [is] the wheat and the wine? fainting as the dead in the streets of the city, pouring out their souls into their mothers' bosom.
12 Eles dizem para suas mães: Onde está o trigo e o vinho? Quando eles desmaiaram como os feridos nas ruas da cidade, quando as suas almas foram derramadas no seio de suas mães.
13 [Mem] What witness shall I take to thee? Or unto whom shall I liken thee O daughter of Jerusalem? Unto whom shall I compare thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? for thy breach [is] as great as the sea: who shall heal thee?
13 Que coisa deverei tomar para testemunhar por ti? A que coisa assemelhar-te-ei, ó filha de Jerusalém? A que comparar-te-ei, para que eu possa te confortar, ó virgem, filha de Sião? Pois a tua violação é grande como o mar. Quem pode curar-te?
14 [Nun] Thy prophets have preached vanity and foolishness unto thee; and they have not uncovered thine iniquity to turn away thy captivity but have preached unto thee vain prophecies and digressions.
14 Teus profetas viram coisas vãs e tolas para ti, e eles não descobriram a tua iniquidade, para remover o teu cativeiro; porém viram para ti falsos fardos e causas de banimento.
15 [Samech] All that passed by clapped [their] hands over thee and whistled and wagged their heads over the daughter of Jerusalem, [saying], [Is] this the city that [men] called The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth?
15 Todos os que passam batem palmas; eles assobiam e meneiam as suas cabeças para a filha de Jerusalém, dizendo: É esta a cidade que os homens chamam de a perfeição da beleza, a alegria de toda a terra?
16 [Pe] All thine enemies opened their mouth regarding thee; they whistled and gnashed their teeth; they said, Swallow [her] up; certainly this [is] the day that we looked for; we have found it, we have seen [it].
16 Todos os teus inimigos abriram as suas bocas contra ti; eles assobiam e rangem os dentes; eles dizem: Nós a engolimos; certamente este é o dia que nós desejávamos; nós o encontramos, e nós o vimos.
17 [Ain] The LORD has done [that] which he had determined; he has fulfilled his word that he had commanded from [the] time of old; he has destroyed and has not forgiven; and he has caused [thine] enemy to rejoice over thee; he has raised up the horn of thine adversaries.
17 O SENHOR fez aquilo que tinha planejado; ele cumpriu a palavra que ordenou nos tempos antigos; ele abateu, e não teve compaixão; e ele fez o teu inimigo regozijar-se sobre ti, ele estabeleceu o chifre de teus adversários.
18 [Tsade] Their heart cried unto the Lord, O wall of the daughter of Zion; let tears run down like a river day and night; give thyself no rest; let not the apple of thine eye cease.
18 O seu coração clamou ao Senhor: ó muro da filha de Sião, desçam as lágrimas como um rio, dia e noite; não te dês repouso; não deixes a menina dos teus olhos cessar.
19 [Koph] Arise, cry out in the night; in the beginning of the watches; pour out thine heart like water before the face of the Lord; lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children that faint for hunger in the top of every street.
19 Levanta-te, clama na noite; no início das vigílias derrama o teu coração como água perante a face do Senhor; ergue as tuas mãos para ele pela vida de teus filhos pequenos, que desmaiam de fome no alto de cada rua.
20 [Resh] Look, O LORD, and consider unto whom thou hast shaken thus. Shall the women eat their fruit, the little ones that they are bringing up? shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?
20 Contempla, ó SENHOR, e considera a quem fizeste isto. Deverão as mulheres comer o fruto do seu ventre, as crianças de colo? Deverão o sacerdote e o profeta serem mortos no santuário do Senhor?
21 [Schin] The young and the old lay on the ground in the streets; my virgins and my young men fell by the sword; thou hast slain [them] in the day of thine anger; thou hast killed [and] hast not forgiven.
21 O jovem e o velho deitam-se no chão nas ruas; as minhas virgens e os meus jovens caíram pela espada; tu os mataste no dia da tua fúria; tu os mataste, e não tiveste misericórdia.
22 [Tau] Thou hast called as to a day of solemnity my terrors from everywhere, so that in the day of the LORD'S anger no one escaped nor remained: those that I have swaddled and brought up my enemy has consumed.:
22 Tu convocaste, como em um dia solene, os meus terrores por todos os lados, para que no dia da fúria do SENHOR ninguém escapasse e nem restasse; aqueles que eu protegi e criei, o meu inimigo os consumiu.
