1 At that time Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and presents to Hezekiah, for he had heard that he had been sick and was recovered.
1 Por esse mesmo tempo, o rei da Babilônia, Merodaque-Baladã, filho de Baladã, soube que o rei Ezequias havia estado doente, mas agora já estava bom. Então lhe mandou uma carta e um presente.
2 And Hezekiah rejoiced with them and showed them the house of his precious things, the silver and the gold and the spices and the precious ointments and all the house of his weapons and all that was found in his treasures; there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion that Hezekiah did not show them.
2 Ezequias recebeu bem os mensageiros e lhes mostrou toda a sua riqueza, isto é, a sua prata e o seu ouro, as suas especiarias , os seus perfumes e todas as suas armas. Não houve nada nos seus depósitos ou em qualquer outro lugar que Ezequias não mostrasse.
3 Then Isaiah the prophet came unto king Hezekiah and said unto him, What did these men say? and from where did they come unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, [even] from Babylon.
3 Então o profeta Isaías foi falar com ele e perguntou: — De onde vieram esses homens, e o que foi que lhe disseram? Ezequias respondeu: — Eles vieram de um país que fica muito longe daqui. Vieram da Babilônia.
4 Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that [is] in my house have they seen; there is nothing among my treasures that I have not showed them.
4 — O que foi que eles viram no palácio? — perguntou Isaías. O rei respondeu: — Viram tudo. Não houve nada nos depósitos que eu não lhes mostrasse.
5 Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear [the] word of the LORD of the hosts:
5 Então Isaías disse ao rei: — O
6 Behold, the days come, that all that [is] in thine house and [that] which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
6 vai chegar o tempo em que tudo aquilo que há no seu palácio, isto é, tudo o que os seus antepassados juntaram até hoje, será levado para a Babilônia. Não ficará nada.
7 And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
7 Alguns dos seus próprios filhos serão levados como prisioneiros e feitos eunucos para trabalhar no palácio do rei da Babilônia.
8 Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, Good [is] the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, At least there shall be peace and truth in my days.:
