1 And it came to pass, that when Isaac became old, and his eyes were dim so that he could not see, he called Esau, his eldest son, and said unto him, My son, and he said unto him, Behold, [here am] I.
1 Tendo Isaque envelhecido, seus olhos ficaram tão fracos que ele já não podia enxergar. Certo dia chamou Esaú, seu filho mais velho, e lhe disse: "Meu filho! " Ele respondeu: "Estou aqui".
2 And he said, Behold now, I am old: I know not the day of my death.
2 Disse-lhe Isaque: "Já estou velho e não sei o dia da minha morte.
3 Now, therefore, take I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow and go out to the field and take me [some] venison
3 Pegue agora suas armas, o arco e a aljava, e vá ao campo caçar alguma coisa para mim.
4 and make me savoury food, such as I love, and bring [it] to me that I may eat, that my soul may bless thee before I die.
4 Prepare-me aquela comida saborosa que tanto aprecio e traga-me, para que eu a coma e o abençoe antes de morrer".
5 And Rebekah heard when Isaac spoke to Esau, his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt [for] venison [and] to bring [it].
5 Ora, Rebeca estava ouvindo o que Isaque dizia a seu filho Esaú. Quando Esaú saiu ao campo para caçar,
6 Then Rebekah spoke unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau, thy brother, saying,
6 Rebeca disse a seu filho Jacó: "Ouvi seu pai dizer a seu irmão Esaú:
7 Bring me venison and make me savoury food that I may eat and bless thee before the LORD before my death.
7 ‘Traga-me alguma caça e prepare-me aquela comida saborosa, para que eu a coma e o abençoe na presença do Senhor antes de morrer’.
8 Now, therefore, my son, hearken unto my voice according to that which I command thee.
8 Agora, meu filho, ouça bem e faça o que lhe ordeno:
9 Go now to the flock and bring me from there two good kids of the goats, and I will make them savoury food for thy father, such as he loves;
9 Vá ao rebanho e traga-me dois cabritos escolhidos, para que eu prepare uma comida saborosa para seu pai, como ele aprecia.
10 and thou shalt bring [it] to thy father that he may eat and that he may bless thee before his death.
10 Leve-a então a seu pai, para que ele a coma e o abençoe antes de morrer".
11 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau, my brother, [is] a hairy man, and I [am] a smooth man;
11 Disse Jacó a Rebeca, sua mãe: "Mas o meu irmão Esaú é homem peludo, e eu tenho a pele lisa.
12 my father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon myself, and not a blessing.
12 E se meu pai me apalpar? Vai parecer que estou tentando enganá-lo, fazendo-o de tolo e, em vez de bênção, trarei sobre mim maldição".
13 And his mother said unto him, Upon me [be] thy curse, my son; only obey my voice and go bring me [them].
13 Disse-lhe sua mãe: "Caia sobre mim a maldição, meu filho. Faça apenas o que eu digo: Vá e traga-os para mim".
14 And he went and took them and brought [them] to his mother, and his mother made savoury food, such as his father loved.
14 Então ele foi, apanhou-os e os trouxe à sua mãe, que preparou uma comida saborosa, como seu pai apreciava.
15 And Rebekah took good clothes of her eldest son Esau, which [were] with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob, her younger son:
15 Rebeca pegou as melhores roupas de Esaú, seu filho mais velho, roupas que tinha em casa, e colocou-as em Jacó, seu filho mais novo.
16 And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands and upon the smooth of his neck,
16 Depois cobriu-lhe as mãos e a parte lisa do pescoço com as peles dos cabritos,
17 and she gave the savoury food and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.
17 e por fim entregou a Jacó a refeição saborosa e o pão que tinha feito.
18 And he came unto his father and said, My father, and he said, Here [am] I; who [art] thou, my son?
18 Ele se dirigiu ao pai e disse: "Meu pai". Respondeu ele: "Sim, meu filho. Quem é você? "
19 And Jacob said unto his father, I [am] Esau, thy firstborn; I have done according as thou didst command me; arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me.
19 Jacó disse a seu pai: "Sou Esaú, seu filho mais velho. Fiz como o senhor me disse. Agora, assente-se e coma do que cacei para que me abençoe".
20 Then Isaac said unto his son, How [is it] that thou hast found [it] so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God brought [it] to me.
20 Isaque perguntou ao filho: "Como encontrou a caça tão depressa, meu filho? " Ele respondeu: "O Senhor, o seu Deus, a colocou no meu caminho".
21 And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou [be] my very son Esau or not.
21 Então Isaque disse a Jacó: "Chegue mais perto, meu filho, para que eu possa apalpá-lo e saber se você é realmente meu filho Esaú".
22 And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him and said, The voice [is] Jacob's voice, but the hands [are] the hands of Esau.
22 Jacó aproximou-se do seu pai Isaque, que o apalpou e disse: "A voz é de Jacó, mas os braços são de Esaú".
23 And he discerned him not because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau's hands; so he blessed him.
23 Não o reconheceu, pois seus braços estavam peludos como os de Esaú, seu irmão; e o abençoou.
24 And he said, [Art] thou my very son Esau? And he said, I [am].
24 Isaque perguntou-lhe outra vez: "Você é mesmo meu filho Esaú? " E ele respondeu: "Sou".
25 And he said, Bring [it] near to me, and I will eat of my son's venison, that my soul may bless thee. And he brought [it] near to him, and he ate; and he brought him wine, and he drank.
25 Então lhe disse: "Meu filho, traga-me da sua caça para que eu coma e o abençoe". Jacó a trouxe, e o pai comeu; também trouxe vinho, e ele bebeu.
26 And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now and kiss me, my son.
26 Então seu pai Isaque lhe disse: "Venha cá, meu filho, dê-me um beijo".
27 And he came near and kissed him, and he smelled the smell of his clothing and blessed him and said, See, the smell of my son [is] as the smell of a field which the LORD has blessed.
27 Ele se aproximou e o beijou. Quando sentiu o cheiro de suas roupas, Isaque o abençoou, dizendo: "Ah, o cheiro de meu filho é como o cheiro de um campo que o Senhor abençoou.
28 Therefore [let] God give thee of the dew of heaven and of the fatness of the earth and plenty of wheat and new wine.
28 Que Deus lhe conceda do céu o orvalho e da terra a riqueza, com muito cereal e muito vinho.
29 Let the peoples serve thee and nations bow down to thee; be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother's sons bow down to thee; cursed [be] every one that curses thee, and blessed [be] he that blesses thee.
29 Que as nações o sirvam e os povos se curvem diante de você. Seja senhor dos seus irmãos, e curvem-se diante de você os filhos de sua mãe. Malditos sejam os que o amaldiçoarem e benditos sejam os que o abençoarem".
30 And it came to pass as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.
30 Quando Isaque acabou de abençoar Jacó, mal tendo ele saído da presença do pai, seu irmão Esaú chegou da caçada.
31 And he also had made savory food and brought it unto his father and said unto his father, Let my father arise and eat of his son's venison that thy soul may bless me.
31 Ele também preparou uma comida saborosa e a trouxe a seu pai. E lhe disse: "Meu pai, levante-se e coma da minha caça, para que o senhor me dê sua bênção".
32 And Isaac his father said unto him, Who [art] thou? And he said, I [am] thy son, thy firstborn Esau.
32 Perguntou-lhe seu pai Isaque: "Quem é você? " Ele respondeu: "Sou Esaú, seu filho mais velho".
33 Then Isaac trembled very exceedingly and said, Who [is] he that has taken venison and brought [it to] me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest? I have blessed him and he shall be blessed.
33 Profundamente abalado, Isaque começou a tremer muito e disse: "Quem então apanhou a caça e a trouxe para mim? Acabei de comê-la antes de você entrar e a ele abençoei; e abençoado ele será! "
34 And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry and said unto his father, Bless me, [even] me also, O my father.
34 Quando Esaú ouviu as palavras de seu pai, deu um forte grito e, cheio de amargura, implorou ao pai: "Abençoe também a mim, meu pai! "
35 And he said, Thy brother came with deceit and has taken away thy blessing.
35 Mas ele respondeu: "Seu irmão chegou astutamente e recebeu a bênção que pertencia a você".
36 And he said, Is he not rightly named Jacob? For he has supplanted me these two times; he took away my birthright, and, behold, now he has taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?
36 E disse Esaú: "Não é com razão que o seu nome é Jacó? Já é a segunda vez que ele me engana! Primeiro, tomou o meu direito de filho mais velho e agora recebeu a minha bênção! " Então perguntou ao pai: "O senhor não reservou nenhuma bênção para mim? "
37 And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren I have given to him for servants, and with wheat and new wine I have sustained him. What shall I do now unto thee, my son?
37 Isaque respondeu a Esaú: "Eu o constituí senhor sobre você, e a todos os seus parentes tornei servos dele; a ele supri de cereal e de vinho. Que é que eu poderia fazer por você, meu filho? "
38 And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? Bless me, [even] me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice and wept.
38 Esaú pediu ao pai: "Meu pai, o senhor tem apenas uma bênção? Abençoe-me também, meu pai! " Então chorou Esaú em alta voz.
39 Then Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth and of the dew of the heavens from above,
39 Seu pai Isaque respondeu-lhe: "Sua habitação será longe das terras férteis, distante do orvalho que desce do alto céu.
40 and by thy sword shalt thou live and shalt serve thy brother; yet there shall be a time when thou shalt have dominion, and thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.
40 Você viverá por sua espada e servirá a seu irmão. Mas quando você não suportar mais, arrancará do pescoço o jugo".
41 And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then I will slay my brother Jacob.
41 Esaú guardou rancor contra Jacó por causa da bênção que seu pai lhe dera. E disse a si mesmo: "Os dias de luto pela morte de meu pai estão próximos; então matarei meu irmão Jacó".
42 And these words of Esau, her elder son, were told to Rebekah; and she sent and called Jacob her younger son and said unto him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as concerning thee, does comfort himself, [purposing] to kill thee.
42 Quando contaram a Rebeca o que seu filho Esaú dissera, ela mandou chamar Jacó, seu filho mais novo, e lhe disse: "Esaú está se consolando com a idéia de matá-lo.
43 Now therefore, my son, hear my voice and arise; flee unto Laban, my brother, to Haran
43 Ouça, pois, o que lhe digo, meu filho: Fuja imediatamente para a casa de meu irmão Labão, em Harã.
44 and dwell with him a few days until thy brother's fury turns away,
44 Fique com ele algum tempo, até que passe o furor de seu irmão.
45 until thy brother's anger turns away from thee, and he forgets [that] which thou hast done to him; then I will send, and bring thee from there; for why should I be deprived of you both in one day?
45 Quando seu irmão não estiver mais irado contra você e esquecer o que você lhe fez, mandarei buscá-lo. Por que perderia eu vocês dois num só dia? "
46 And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth. If Jacob takes a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these [who are] of the daughters of this land, why should I want to live?:
46 Então Rebeca disse a Isaque: "Estou desgostosa da vida, por causa destas mulheres hititas. Se Jacó escolher esposa entre as mulheres desta terra, entre mulheres hititas como estas, perderei a razão de viver".
