1 And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he incited David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.
1 Tornou a ira do Senhor a acender-se contra os israelitas, e ele incitou a Davi contra eles, dizendo: Vai, levanta o censo de Israel e de Judá.
2 For the king said to Joab, the captain of the host, who [was] with him, Go now through all the tribes of Israel from Dan unto Beersheba and number the people that I may know the number of the people.
2 Disse, pois, o rei a Joabe, comandante do seu exército: Percorre todas as tribos de Israel, de Dã até Berseba, e levanta o censo do povo, para que eu saiba o seu número.
3 And Joab replied unto the king, Now the LORD thy God add unto the people one hundredfold to however many there are and that the eyes of my lord the king may see [it], but why does my lord the king delight in this thing?
3 Então, disse Joabe ao rei: Ora, multiplique o Senhor , teu Deus, a este povo cem vezes mais, e o rei, meu senhor, o veja; mas por que tem prazer nisto o rei, meu senhor?
4 Notwithstanding, the king's word prevailed against Joab and against the captains of the host. And Joab and the captains of the host went out from the presence of the king, to number the people of Israel.
4 Porém a palavra do rei prevaleceu contra Joabe e contra os chefes do exército; saiu, pois, Joabe com os chefes do exército da presença do rei, a levantar o censo do povo de Israel.
5 And passing the Jordan, they pitched in Aroer, on the right side of the city that [lies] in the midst of the river of Gad, and toward Jazer.
5 Tendo eles passado o Jordão, acamparam-se em Aroer, à direita da cidade que está no meio do vale de Gade, e foram a Jazer.
6 After that they came to Gilead and to the land of Tahtimhodshi, and they came to Danjaan and about to Zidon.
6 Daqui foram a Gileade e chegaram até Cades, na terra dos heteus; seguiram a Dã-Jaã e viraram-se para Sidom;
7 Then they came to the fortress of Tyre and to all the cities of the Hivites and of the Canaanites, and they went out towards the Negev from Judah, [even] to Beersheba.
7 chegaram à fortaleza de Tiro e a todas as cidades dos heveus e dos cananeus, donde saíram para o Neguebe de Judá, a Berseba.
8 So when they had gone through all the land, they returned to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.
8 Assim, percorreram toda a terra e, ao cabo de nove meses e vinte dias, chegaram a Jerusalém.
9 And Joab gave up the sum of the number of the people unto the king, and there were in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men that drew the sword, and the men of Judah [were] five hundred thousand men.
9 Deu Joabe ao rei o recenseamento do povo: havia em Israel oitocentos mil homens de guerra, que puxavam da espada; e em Judá eram quinhentos mil.
10 And David's heart smote him after he had numbered the people. And David said unto the LORD, I have sinned greatly in having done this; but now, I beseech thee, O LORD, take away the iniquity of thy servant, for I have done very foolishly.
10 Sentiu Davi bater-lhe o coração, depois de haver recenseado o povo, e disse ao Senhor : Muito pequei no que fiz; porém, agora, ó Senhor , peço-te que perdoes a iniquidade do teu servo; porque procedi mui loucamente.
11 And in the morning when David had risen, the word of the LORD came unto the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying,
11 Ao levantar-se Davi pela manhã, veio a palavra do Senhor ao profeta Gade, vidente de Davi, dizendo:
12 Go and say unto David, Thus hath the LORD said, I offer thee three [things]: choose one of them, which I will do unto thee.
12 Vai e dize a Davi: Assim diz o Senhor : Três coisas te ofereço; escolhe uma delas, para que ta faça.
13 So Gad came to David and told him and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? Or wilt thou flee three months before thy enemies while they pursue thee? Or shall there be three days' pestilence in thy land? Now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.
13 Veio, pois, Gade a Davi e lho fez saber, dizendo: Queres que sete anos de fome te venham à tua terra? Ou que, por três meses, fujas diante de teus inimigos, e eles te persigam? Ou que, por três dias, haja peste na tua terra? Delibera, agora, e vê que resposta hei de dar ao que me enviou.
14 Then David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait; let us fall now into the hand of the LORD, for his mercies [are] great, and let me not fall into the hand of man.
14 Então, disse Davi a Gade: Estou em grande angústia; porém caiamos nas mãos do Senhor , porque muitas são as suas misericórdias; mas, nas mãos dos homens, não caia eu.
15 So the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning until the time appointed, and there died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba seventy thousand men.
15 Então, enviou o Senhor a peste a Israel, desde a manhã até ao tempo que determinou; e, de Dã até Berseba, morreram setenta mil homens do povo.
16 And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD himself repented of that evil and said to the angel that was destroying the people, It is enough; stay now thy hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingfloor of Araunah, the Jebusite.
16 Estendendo, pois, o Anjo do Senhor a mão sobre Jerusalém, para a destruir, arrependeu-se o Senhor do mal e disse ao Anjo que fazia a destruição entre o povo: Basta, retira a mão. O Anjo estava junto à eira de Araúna, o jebuseu.
17 And David spoke unto the LORD when he saw the angel that smote the people and said, I have sinned, I committed the iniquity, but these sheep, what have they done? Let thy hand, I pray thee, be against me and against my father's house.
17 Vendo Davi ao Anjo que feria o povo, falou ao Senhor e disse: Eu é que pequei, eu é que procedi perversamente; porém estas ovelhas que fizeram? Seja, pois, a tua mão contra mim e contra a casa de meu pai.
18 And Gad came that day to David and said unto him, Go up, erect an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Araunah, the Jebusite.
18 Naquele mesmo dia, veio Gade ter com Davi e lhe disse: Sobe, levanta ao Senhor um altar na eira de Araúna, o jebuseu.
19 And David went up, according to the word of Gad, as the LORD had commanded [him].
19 Davi subiu segundo a palavra de Gade, como o Senhor lhe havia ordenado.
20 And Araunah looked and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him, and Araunah went out and bowed himself before the king on his face upon the ground.
20 Olhou Araúna do alto e, vendo que vinham para ele o rei e os seus homens, saiu e se inclinou diante do rei, com o rosto em terra.
21 And Araunah said, Why is my lord the king come to his servant? And David answered, To buy this threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be stayed from the people.
21 E perguntou: Por que vem o rei, meu senhor, ao seu servo? Respondeu Davi: Para comprar de ti esta eira, a fim de edificar nela um altar ao Senhor , para que cesse a praga de sobre o povo.
22 And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what [seems] good unto him; behold, [here are] oxen for burnt sacrifice and threshing instruments and [other] instruments of the oxen for wood;
22 Então, disse Araúna a Davi: Tome e ofereça o rei, meu senhor, o que bem lhe parecer; eis aí os bois para o holocausto, e os trilhos, e a apeiragem dos bois para a lenha.
23 all these [things] does king Araunah give unto the King. Then Araunah said unto the king, The LORD thy God accept thee.
23 Tudo isto, ó rei, Araúna oferece ao rei; e ajuntou: Que o Senhor , teu Deus, te seja propício.
24 And the king said unto Araunah, No, but I will surely buy [it] of thee at a price, for I will not offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which costs me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
24 Porém o rei disse a Araúna: Não, mas eu to comprarei pelo devido preço, porque não oferecerei ao Senhor , meu Deus, holocaustos que não me custem nada. Assim, Davi comprou a eira e pelos bois pagou cinquenta siclos de prata.
25 And David built there an altar unto the LORD and offered burnt offerings and peace [offerings]. So the LORD was intreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.:
25 Edificou ali Davi ao Senhor um altar e apresentou holocaustos e ofertas pacíficas. Assim, o Senhor se tornou favorável para com a terra, e a praga cessou de sobre Israel.
