1 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth [day] of the month, [that] Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, came, he and all his host, against Jerusalem and pitched against it; and they built forts against it round about.
1 Assim, em 15 de janeiro, durante o nono ano do reinado de Zedequias, Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, e todo o seu exército cercaram Jerusalém e construíram rampas de ataque contra os muros.
2 And the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.
2 Jerusalém permaneceu cercada até o décimo primeiro ano do reinado de Zedequias.
3 And on the ninth of the month the famine prevailed in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land.
3 Em 18 de julho, no décimo primeiro ano do reinado de Zedequias, a fome na cidade tinha se tornado tão severa que não havia mais nenhum alimento.
4 And the city was broken up, and all the men of war [fled] by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which is by the king's garden, with the Chaldees round about the city; and they went by the way of the plain.
4 Assim, abriram uma brecha no muro da cidade. Como a cidade estava cercada pelos babilônios, os soldados esperaram até o anoitecer e fugiram pelo portão entre os dois muros atrás do jardim do rei. Então seguiram em direção ao vale do Jordão.
5 And the army of the Chaldees pursued after the king and overtook him in the plains of Jericho, after all his army had been scattered from him.
5 Contudo, o exército babilônio perseguiu o rei e o alcançou nas planícies de Jericó, pois todos os seus soldados o haviam abandonado e se dispersado.
6 So they took the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah, and they sentenced him.
6 Capturaram Zedequias e o levaram ao rei da Babilônia, em Ribla, onde ele recebeu sua sentença.
7 And they slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes and put out the eyes of Zedekiah and bound him with fetters of brass and carried him to Babylon.
7 Mataram seus filhos diante dele, depois lhe arrancaram os olhos, o prenderam com correntes de bronze e o levaram para a Babilônia.
8 And in the fifth month, on the seventh of the month, which [was] the year nineteen of King Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem.
8 Em 14 de agosto daquele ano, o décimo nono do reinado de Nabucodonosor, Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda e oficial do rei da Babilônia, chegou a Jerusalém.
9 And he burnt the house of the LORD and the king's house and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great [man's] house he burnt with fire.
9 Queimou o templo do S enhor , o palácio real e todas as casas de Jerusalém. Pôs fogo em todos os edifícios importantes da cidade.
10 And all the army of the Chaldees, that [were with] the captain of the guard, broke down the walls of Jerusalem round about.
10 Depois supervisionou o exército babilônio na demolição de todos os muros de Jerusalém.
11 Now the rest of the people [that were] left in the city and the fugitives that fell away to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, carried away.
11 Em seguida, Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda, deportou o povo que havia ficado na cidade, os desertores que se entregaram ao rei da Babilônia e o restante da população.
12 But the captain of the guard left of the poor of the land [to be] vinedressers and husbandmen.
12 Permitiu, no entanto, que alguns dos mais pobres ficassem para cuidar das videiras e dos campos.
13 And the Chaldees broke in pieces the pillars of brass that [were] in the house of the LORD and the bases and the brasen sea that [was] in the house of the LORD and carried the brass of them to Babylon.
13 Os babilônios despedaçaram as colunas de bronze na frente do templo do S enhor , as bases móveis de bronze e o grande tanque de bronze chamado Mar, e levaram todo o bronze para a Babilônia.
14 They also took away the pots and the shovels and the snuffers and the spoons and all the vessels of brass, with which they ministered.
14 Também levaram os baldes para cinzas, as pás, os cortadores de pavios, as colheres e todos os outros utensílios de bronze usados para o serviço no templo.
15 And the censers and the bowls [and] such things as [were] of gold [in] gold and of silver [in] silver the captain of the guard took away, also
15 O capitão da guarda levou ainda os incensários e as bacias e todos os outros utensílios de ouro puro ou prata.
16 the two pillars, one sea, and the bases which Solomon had made for the house of the LORD; the brass of all these vessels was without weight.
16 Era impossível calcular o peso do bronze das duas colunas, do Mar e das bases móveis para levar água. Esses objetos tinham sido feitos para o templo do S enhor nos dias de Salomão.
17 The height of the one pillar [was] eighteen cubits, and the chapiter upon it [was] brass; and the height of the chapiter three cubits, and network and pomegranates upon the chapiter round about, all of brass; and the second pillar was like [the first] with network.
17 Cada coluna media 8,1 metros de altura. O capitel de bronze no alto de cada coluna media cerca de 2,25 metros de altura e era enfeitado ao redor com correntes entrelaçadas de romãs feitas de bronze.
18 And the captain of the guard took Seraiah, the chief priest, and Zephaniah, the second priest, and the three keepers of the door;
18 O capitão da guarda levou como prisioneiros o sumo sacerdote Seraías, o sacerdote auxiliar Sofonias e três dos principais guardas das portas.
19 and out of the city he took a eunuch, that was set over the men of war, and five men of those that were in the king's presence, who were found in the city, and the principal scribe of the host, who mustered the people of the land, with sixty men of the people of the land [that were] found in the city.
19 Dentre o povo que ainda estava escondido na cidade, levou um oficial responsável pelo exército de Judá, cinco dos conselheiros pessoais do rei; o secretário do comandante do exército, que era encarregado do alistamento de soldados, e outros sessenta homens do povo.
20 Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, took these and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah.
20 Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda, levou-os ao rei da Babilônia, em Ribla.
21 And the king of Babylon smote and slew them at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away out of their land.
21 E ali em Ribla, na terra de Hamate, o rei da Babilônia mandou executá-los. Assim, o povo de Judá foi enviado para o exílio, para longe de sua terra.
22 And [as for] the people whom Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, left in the land of Judah, he made Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, governor over them.
22 Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, nomeou Gedalias, filho de Aicam, filho de Safã, como governador do povo que ele havia deixado em Judá.
23 And when all the captains of the armies, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah governor, they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, [even] Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan the son of Careah, and Seraiah, the son of Tanhumeth, the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah, the son of Maachathi, they and their men.
23 Quando os comandantes do exército e seus homens souberam que o rei da Babilônia havia nomeado Gedalias governador, foram vê-lo em Mispá. Entre eles estavam Ismael, filho de Netanias, Joanã, filho de Careá, Seraías, filho do netofatita Tanumete, Jezanias, filho do maacatita, e todos os seus homens.
24 Then Gedaliah swore to them and to their men and said unto them, Do not fear the servants of the Chaldees; dwell in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.
24 Gedalias jurou a eles que os oficiais babilônios não tinham intenção de lhes fazer nenhum mal. “Não tenham medo deles”, disse. “Vivam na terra e sirvam ao rei da Babilônia, e tudo lhes irá bem.”
25 But in the seventh month, Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama of the royal seed, came and ten men with him and smote Gedaliah, that he died, and the Jews and the Chaldees that were with him at Mizpah.
25 Mas, no sétimo mês desse mesmo ano, Ismael, filho de Netanias, filho de Elisama, que era da família real, foi com dez homens a Mispá e matou Gedalias. Também matou todos os judeus e babilônios que estavam com ele em Mispá.
26 Then all the people, both small and great, and the captains of the armies, arose and went to Egypt, for they were afraid of the Chaldees.
26 Então todo o povo de Judá, dos mais simples até os mais importantes, bem como os comandantes do exército, fugiu para o Egito, com medo do que os babilônios lhe fariam.
27 And it came to pass after thirty-seven years of the captivity of Jehoiachin, king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh [day] of the month, [that] Evilmerodach, king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign lifted up the head of Jehoiachin, king of Judah, out of the prison house;
27 No trigésimo sétimo ano do exílio de Joaquim, rei de Judá, Evil-Merodaque começou a reinar na Babilônia. Foi bondoso com Joaquim e o libertou da prisão em 2 de abril daquele ano.
28 and he spoke kindly to him and set his seat above the seats of the kings that [were] with him in Babylon.
28 Falou com ele gentilmente e o colocou num lugar mais elevado que o de outros reis exilados na Babilônia.
29 And he changed his prison garments, and he ate bread continually before him all the days of his life.
29 Providenciou roupas novas para Joaquim, no lugar das roupas de prisioneiro, e permitiu que ele comesse na presença do rei enquanto vivesse.
30 And the king caused him to be given his food continually, each thing in its time, all the days of his life.:
30 Assim o rei lhe deu uma provisão diária de alimento pelo resto de sua vida.
