1 It came to pass after this also [that] the sons of Moab and the sons of Ammon and with them [others] besides the Ammonites came against Jehoshaphat to battle.
1 E sucedeu que, depois disto, os filhos de Moabe, e os filhos de Amom, e com eles outros dos amonitas, vieram à peleja contra Jeosafá.
2 Then some came and told Jehoshaphat, saying, There comes a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea, and from Syria; and, behold, they [are] in Hazazontamar, which [is] Engedi.
2 Então vieram alguns que avisaram a Jeosafá, dizendo: Vem contra ti uma grande multidão dalém do mar e da Síria; e eis que já estão em Hazazom-Tamar, que é En-Gedi.
3 Then Jehoshaphat feared and set himself to seek the LORD and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
3 Então Jeosafá temeu, e pôs-se a buscar o Senhor, e apregoou jejum em todo o Judá.
4 And Judah gathered themselves together, to consult the LORD; and out of all the cities of Judah they came to consult the LORD.
4 E Judá se ajuntou, para pedir socorro ao Senhor; também de todas as cidades de Judá vieram para buscar ao Senhor.
5 And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court,
5 E pôs-se Jeosafá em pé na congregação de Judá e de Jerusalém, na casa do Senhor, diante do pátio novo.
6 and said, O LORD God of our fathers, [art] not thou God in the heavens and dost thou [not] rule in all the kingdoms of the Gentiles? Is there not power and might in thy hand so that no one is able to withstand thee?
6 E disse: Ah! Senhor Deus de nossos pais, porventura não és tu Deus nos céus? Não és tu que dominas sobre todos os reinos das nações? Na tua mão há força e potência, e não há quem te possa resistir.
7 [Art] not thou our God, [who] didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel and didst give it to the seed of Abraham, thy friend, for ever?
7 Porventura, ó nosso Deus, não lançaste fora os moradores desta terra de diante do teu povo Israel, e não a deste para sempre à descendência de Abraão, teu amigo?
8 And they have dwelt in it and have built thee a sanctuary in it for thy name, saying,
8 E habitaram nela e edificaram-te nela um santuário ao teu nome, dizendo:
9 If evil comes upon us or the sword of judgment or pestilence or famine, we shall stand before this house and in thy presence (for thy name [is] in this house) and cry unto thee out of our tribulations, and thou wilt hear us and save us.
9 Se algum mal nos sobrevier, espada, juízo, peste, ou fome, nós nos apresentaremos diante desta casa e diante de ti, pois teu nome está nesta casa, e clamaremos a ti na nossa angústia, e tu nos ouvirás e livrarás.
10 And now, behold, the sons of Ammon and of Moab and [those of] Mount Seir, whose [land] thou would not let Israel enter when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them and did not destroy them;
10 Agora, pois, eis que os filhos de Amom, e de Moabe e os das montanhas de Seir, pelos quais não permitiste passar a Israel, quando vinham da terra do Egito, mas deles se desviaram e não os destruíram,
11 behold they reward us by coming to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit.
11 Eis que nos dão o pago, vindo para lançar-nos fora da tua herança, que nos fizeste herdar.
12 O our God, wilt thou not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that comes against us; we do not know what to do; but our eyes are [fixed] upon thee.
12 Ah! nosso Deus, porventura não os julgarás? Porque em nós não há força perante esta grande multidão que vem contra nós, e não sabemos o que faremos; porém os nossos olhos estão postos em ti.
13 And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
13 E todo o Judá estava em pé perante o Senhor, como também as suas crianças, as suas mulheres, e os seus filhos.
14 Then upon Jahaziel, the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation;
14 Então veio o Espírito do Senhor, no meio da congregação, sobre Jaaziel, filho de Zacarias, filho de Benaia, filho de Jeiel, filho de Matanias, levita, dos filhos de Asafe,
15 and he said, Hearken, all Judah, and [ye] inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou King Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Do not be afraid nor dismayed before this great multitude, for the battle [is] not yours, but God's.
15 E disse: Dai ouvidos todo o Judá, e vós, moradores de Jerusalém, e tu, ó rei Jeosafá; assim o Senhor vos diz: Não temais, nem vos assusteis por causa desta grande multidão; pois a peleja não é vossa, mas de Deus.
16 Tomorrow ye shall go down against them; behold, they shall come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them next to the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
16 Amanhã descereis contra eles; eis que sobem pela ladeira de Ziz, e os achareis no fim do vale, diante do deserto de Jeruel.
17 Ye shall not [need] to fight in this [battle[; set yourselves, stand [still], and see the salvation of the LORD with you. O Judah and Jerusalem; fear not, neither be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD [shall be] with you.
17 Nesta batalha não tereis que pelejar; postai-vos, ficai parados, e vede a salvação do Senhor para convosco, ó Judá e Jerusalém. Não temais, nem vos assusteis; amanhã saí-lhes ao encontro, porque o Senhor será convosco.
18 Then Jehoshaphat bowed his head with [his] face to the ground, and likewise all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD.
18 Então Jeosafá se prostrou com o rosto em terra, e todo o Judá e os moradores de Jerusalém se lançaram perante o Senhor, adorando-o.
19 And the Levites, of the sons of the Kohath and of the sons of the Korah, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high.
19 E levantaram-se os levitas, dos filhos dos coatitas, e dos filhos dos coratitas, para louvarem ao Senhor Deus de Israel, com voz muito alta.
20 And when they arose early in the morning and while they were going forth into the wilderness of Tekoa, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe the LORD your God, and ye shall be secure; believe his prophets, and ye shall be prospered.
20 E pela manhã cedo se levantaram e saíram ao deserto de Tecoa; e, ao saírem, Jeosafá pôs-se em pé, e disse: Ouvi-me, ó Judá, e vós, moradores de Jerusalém: Crede no Senhor vosso Deus, e estareis seguros; crede nos seus profetas, e prosperareis;
21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed some to sing unto the LORD and to praise in the beauty of holiness, while the army went out and to say, Praise the LORD, for his mercy [endures] for ever.
21 E aconselhou-se com o povo, e ordenou cantores para o Senhor, que louvassem à Majestade santa, saindo diante dos armados, e dizendo: Louvai ao Senhor porque a sua benignidade dura para sempre.
22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set the sons of Moab and those of Mount Seir to ambush the sons of Ammon, who were coming against Judah; and they smote [one another].
22 E, quando começaram a cantar e a dar louvores, o Senhor pôs emboscadas contra os filhos de Amom e de Moabe e os das montanhas de Seir, que vieram contra Judá, e foram desbaratados.
23 And the sons of Ammon and Moab rose up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy [them]; and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, each one helped his companion to kill himself.
23 Porque os filhos de Amom e de Moabe se levantaram contra os moradores das montanhas de Seir, para os destruir e exterminar; e, acabando eles com os moradores de Seir, ajudaram uns aos outros a destruir-se.
24 And when Judah came to the watch tower of the wilderness, they looked for the multitude, and, behold, they [were] fallen to the earth dead, for none had escaped.
24 Nisso chegou Judá à atalaia do deserto; e olharam para a multidão, e eis que eram corpos mortos, que jaziam em terra, e nenhum escapou.
25 And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to spoil them, they found among them an abundance of riches and of dead bodies and clothing and precious vessels which they took for themselves, more than they could carry away; and they were three days gathering in the spoil, it was so much.
25 E vieram Jeosafá e o seu povo para saquear os seus despojos, e acharam entre eles riquezas e cadáveres em abundância, assim como objetos preciosos; e tomaram para si tanto, que não podiam levar; e três dias saquearam o despojo, porque era muito.
26 And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the LORD; therefore, they called the name of that place, The valley of Berachah, unto this day.
26 E ao quarto dia se ajuntaram no vale de Beraca; pois ali louvaram ao Senhor. Por isso chamaram aquele lugar o vale de Beraca, até ao dia de hoje.
27 Then they returned, those of Judah and those of Jerusalem with Jehoshaphat at their head, to go again to Jerusalem with joy, for the LORD had made them to rejoice over their enemies.
27 Então voltaram todos os homens de Judá e de Jerusalém, e Jeosafá à frente deles, e tornaram a Jerusalém com alegria; porque o Senhor os alegrara sobre os seus inimigos.
28 And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the house of the LORD.
28 E vieram a Jerusalém com saltérios, com harpas e com trombetas, para a casa do Senhor.
29 And the fear of God came upon all the kingdoms of the land when they heard how the LORD had fought against the enemies of Israel.
29 E veio o temor de Deus sobre todos os reinos daquelas terras, ouvindo eles que o Senhor havia pelejado contra os inimigos de Israel.
30 So the kingdom of Jehoshaphat had rest, for his God gave him rest round about.
30 E o reino de Jeosafá ficou quieto; e o seu Deus lhe deu repouso ao redor.
31 Thus Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah; [he was] thirty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name [was] Azubah, the daughter of Shilhi.
31 E Jeosafá reinou sobre Judá; era da idade de trinta e cinco anos quando começou a reinar e vinte e cinco anos reinou em Jerusalém; e o nome de sua mãe era Azuba, filha de Sili.
32 And he walked in the way of Asa, his father, and did not depart from it, doing [that which was] right in the sight of the LORD.
32 E andou no caminho de Asa, seu pai, e não se desviou dele, fazendo o que era reto aos olhos do Senhor.
33 With all this the high places were not taken away, for as yet the people had not prepared their hearts unto the God of their fathers.
33 Contudo os altos não foram tirados porque o povo não tinha ainda disposto o seu coração para com o Deus de seus pais.
34 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, behold, they [are] written in the book of Jehu, the son of Hanani, who [is] mentioned in the book of the kings of Israel.
34 Ora, o restante dos atos de Jeosafá, assim, desde os primeiros até os últimos, eis que está escrito nas notas de Jeú, filho de Hanani, que as inseriu no livro dos reis de Israel.
35 After these things, Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, joined himself with Ahaziah, king of Israel, who was given over to wickedness;
35 Porém, depois disto, Jeosafá, rei de Judá, se aliou com Acazias, rei de Israel, que procedeu com toda a impiedade.
36 he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish, and they made the ships in Eziongeber.
36 E aliou-se com ele, para fazerem navios que fossem a Társis; e fizeram os navios em Eziom-Geber.
37 Then Eliezer, the son of Dodavah of Mareshah, prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because thou hast joined thyself with Ahaziah, the LORD shall destroy thy works. And the ships were broken, and they were not able to go to Tarshish.:
37 Porém Eliezer, filho de Dodava, de Maressa, profetizou contra Jeosafá, dizendo: Porquanto te aliaste com Acazias, o Senhor despedaçou as tuas obras. E os navios se quebraram, e não puderam ir a Társis.
