1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, unto the church of the Thessalonians [congregated] in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace [be] unto you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Paulo, e Silvano, e Timóteo, à igreja dos tessalonicenses que está em Deus o Pai, e no Senhor Jesus Cristo: Graça e paz de Deus, nosso Pai, e do Senhor Jesus Cristo.
2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers,
2 Sempre damos graças a Deus por vós todos, fazendo menção de vós em nossas orações,
3 remembering without ceasing the work of your faith and labour and charity and of waiting with the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,
3 lembrando-nos, sem cessar, da obra da vossa fé, do trabalho do amor e da paciência da esperança em nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, diante de nosso Deus e Pai,
4 being certain, beloved brethren, that you are chosen of God.
4 sabendo, amados irmãos, que a vossa eleição é de Deus;
5 For our gospel did not come unto you in word only, but also in power and in [the] Holy Spirit and in full assurance as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
5 porque o nosso evangelho não foi a vós somente em palavras, mas também em poder, e no Espírito Santo, e em muita certeza, como bem sabeis que tipo de homens fomos entre vós, por vossa causa.
6 And ye were made imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word with much tribulation, with joy of the Holy Spirit:
6 E vós fostes feitos nossos seguidores e do Senhor, recebendo a palavra em muita aflição, com a alegria do Espírito Santo,
7 So that ye have become examples to all that have believed in Macedonia and Achaia.
7 de maneira que fostes exemplo para todos os que creem na Macedônia e Acaia.
8 For through you the word of the Lord has been divulged not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith, which is in God, has become extended, so that we have no need to say anything.
8 Porque por vós soou a palavra do Senhor, não somente na Macedônia e Acaia, mas também em todos os lugares a vossa fé para com Deus se espalhou, de tal maneira que já não temos necessidade de falar coisa alguma;
9 For they themselves tell of us what an entrance we had unto you and in what manner ye were converted to God from idols to serve the living and true God
9 porque eles mesmos anunciam de nós que tipo de entrada tivemos para convosco, e como dos ídolos vos convertestes a Deus, para servir ao Deus vivo e verdadeiro,
10 and to wait for his Son from the heavens, whom he raised from the dead, [even] Jesus, who delivered us from the wrath to come.:
10 e esperar seu Filho do céu, a quem ressuscitou dentre os mortos, Jesus, que nos livrou da ira que há de vir.
