1 Now shalt thou gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops; they have laid siege against us; they smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.
1 Agora, ajunta-te em tropas, ó filha de tropas; pôr-se-á sítio contra nós; ferirão com a vara a face do juiz de Israel.
2 But thou, Beth-lehem Ephrathah, which art little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall one come forth unto Me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth are from of old, from ancient days.
2 E tu, Belém-Efrata, pequena demais para figurar como grupo de milhares de Judá, de ti me sairá o que há de reinar em Israel, e cujas origens são desde os tempos antigos, desde os dias da eternidade.
3 Therefore will He give them up, until the time that she who travaileth hath brought forth; then the residue of his brethren shall return with the children of Israel.
3 Portanto, o Senhor os entregará até ao tempo em que a que está em dores tiver dado à luz; então, o restante de seus irmãos voltará aos filhos de Israel.
4 And he shall stand, and shall feed his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide, for then shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.
4 Ele se manterá firme e apascentará o povo na força do Senhor , na majestade do nome do Senhor , seu Deus; e eles habitarão seguros, porque, agora, será ele engrandecido até aos confins da terra.
5 And this shall be peace: when the Assyrian shall come into our land, and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight princes among men.
5 Este será a nossa paz. Quando a Assíria vier à nossa terra e quando passar sobre os nossos palácios, levantaremos contra ela sete pastores e oito príncipes dentre os homens.
6 And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod with the keen-edged sword; and he shall deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our border.
6 Estes consumirão a terra da Assíria à espada e a terra de Ninrode, dentro de suas próprias portas. Assim, nos livrará da Assíria, quando esta vier à nossa terra e pisar os nossos limites.
7 And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples, as dew from the LORD, as showers upon the grass, that are not looked for from man, nor awaited at the hands of the sons of men.
7 O restante de Jacó estará no meio de muitos povos, como orvalho do Senhor , como chuvisco sobre a erva, que não espera pelo homem, nem depende dos filhos de homens.
8 And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep, who, if he go through, treadeth down and teareth in pieces, and there is none to deliver.
8 O restante de Jacó estará entre as nações, no meio de muitos povos, como um leão entre os animais das selvas, como um leãozinho entre os rebanhos de ovelhas, o qual, se passar, as pisará e despedaçará, sem que haja quem as livre.
9 Let Thy hand be lifted up above Thine adversaries, and let all Thine enemies be cut off.
9 A tua mão se exaltará sobre os teus adversários; e todos os teus inimigos serão eliminados.
10 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and will destroy thy chariots;
10 E sucederá, naquele dia, diz o Senhor , que eu eliminarei do meio de ti os teus cavalos e destruirei os teus carros de guerra;
11 And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and will throw down all thy strongholds;
11 destruirei as cidades da tua terra e deitarei abaixo todas as tuas fortalezas;
12 And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thy hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers;
12 eliminarei as feitiçarias das tuas mãos, e não terás adivinhadores;
13 And I will cut off thy graven images and thy pillars out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thy hands.
13 do meio de ti eliminarei as tuas imagens de escultura e as tuas colunas, e tu já não te inclinarás diante da obra das tuas mãos;
14 And I will pluck up thy Asherim out of the midst of thee; and I will destroy thine enemies.
14 eliminarei do meio de ti os teus postes-ídolos e destruirei as tuas cidades.
15 And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the nations, because they hearkened not.
15 Com ira e furor, tomarei vingança sobre as nações que não me obedeceram.
