¹ In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, came this word from the LORD, saying:

¹ No início do reinado de Jeoiaquim, o filho de Josias, rei de Judá, veio esta palavra da parte do SENHOR, dizendo:

² 'Thus saith the LORD: Stand in the court of the LORD'S house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD'S house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word.

² Assim diz o SENHOR: Permanece no átrio da casa do SENHOR, e fala para todas as cidades de Judá, que chegam para adorar na casa do SENHOR, todas as palavras que eu ordenar que lhes digas; não retires uma palavra.

³ It may be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way; that I may repent Me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings.

³ Se acontecer deles ouvirem, e voltar cada homem do seu mau caminho, que eu possa arrepender-me do mal que eu planejo trazer sobre eles, por causa da maldade dos seus feitos.

⁴ And thou shalt say unto them: Thus saith the LORD: If ye will not hearken to Me, to walk in My law, which I have set before you,

⁴ E tu lhes dirás: Assim diz o SENHOR: Se vós não me escutardes, para andar na minha lei, que eu tenho colocado perante vós;

⁵ to hearken to the words of My servants the prophets, whom I send unto you, even sending them betimes and often, but ye have not hearkened;

⁵ para ouvir as palavras dos meus servos, os profetas, a quem eu vos enviei, tanto madrugando quanto os enviando, porém vós não escutastes,

⁶ then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.'

⁶ então eu farei esta casa como Siló, e farei desta cidade uma maldição para todas as nações da terra.

⁷ So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the LORD.

⁷ Assim os sacerdotes e os profetas, e todo o povo, ouviram Jeremias falando estas palavras na casa do SENHOR.

⁸ Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the LORD had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people laid hold on him, saying: 'Thou shalt surely die.

⁸ Então sucedeu que, quando Jeremias terminou de falar tudo que o SENHOR lhe ordenara falar para todo o povo, os sacerdotes e os profetas e todo o povo, o agarraram, dizendo: Tu certamente morrerás.

⁹ Why hast thou prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying: This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate, without an inhabitant?' And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.

⁹ Por que tu profetizaste no nome do SENHOR, dizendo: Esta casa será como Siló, e esta cidade será desolada sem um habitante? E todo o povo estava reunido contra Jeremias na casa do SENHOR.

¹⁰ When the princes of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king's house unto the house of the LORD; and they sat in the entry of the new gate of the LORD'S house.

¹⁰ Quando os príncipes de Judá ouviram estas coisas, subiram da casa do rei para a casa do SENHOR, e assentaram-se na entrada do portão novo da casa do SENHOR.

¹¹ Then spoke the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, saying: 'This man is worthy of death; for he hath prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears.'

¹¹ Então, falaram os sacerdotes e os profetas para os príncipes e para todo o povo, dizendo: Este homem é digno de morte, pois ele profetizou contra esta cidade, como ouvistes com os vossos ouvidos.

¹² Then spoke Jeremiah unto all the princes and to all the people, saying: 'The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard.

¹² Então, Jeremias falou para todos os príncipes e para todo o povo, dizendo: O SENHOR enviou-me para profetizar contra esta casa e contra esta cidade todas as palavras que vós ouvistes.

¹³ Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and hearken to the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent Him of the evil that He hath pronounced against you.

¹³ Portanto agora emendai vossos caminhos e vossos feitos, e obedecei a voz do SENHOR vosso Deus, e o SENHOR se arrependerá do mal que pronunciou contra vós.

¹⁴ But as for me, behold, I am in your hand; do with me as is good and right in your eyes.

¹⁴ Quanto a mim, eis que eu estou em vossa mão. Fazei comigo como parecer bem e a vós satisfizer.

¹⁵ Only know ye for certain that, if ye put me to death, ye will bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof; for of a truth the LORD hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears.'

¹⁵ Porém, sabei com certeza que, se me matardes, trareis certamente sangue inocente sobre vós, e sobre esta cidade, e sobre os seus habitantes, porque certamente o SENHOR me enviou até vós para falar todas estas palavras aos vossos ouvidos.

¹⁶ Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets: 'This man is not worthy of death; for he hath spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God.'

¹⁶ Então disseram os príncipes e todo o povo para os sacerdotes e para os profetas: Este homem não é digno de morte, pois ele nos falou em nome do SENHOR nosso Deus.

¹⁷ Then rose up certain of the elders of the land, and spoke to all the assembly of the people, saying:

¹⁷ Então levantaram-se alguns dos anciãos da terra, e falaram para toda a assembleia do povo, dizendo:

¹⁸ 'Micah the Morashtite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah; and he spoke to all the people of Judah, saying: Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.

¹⁸ Miqueias, o morastita, profetizou nos dias de Ezequias, rei de Judá, e falou para todo o povo de Judá, dizendo: Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos: Sião será arada como um campo, e Jerusalém tornar-se-á em montões, e o monte desta casa como os lugares altos de uma floresta.

¹⁹ Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and entreat the favour of the LORD, and the LORD repented Him of the evil which He had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our own souls.'

¹⁹ Ezequias, rei de Judá, e todo Judá de algum modo o matou? Não temeu ele ao SENHOR, e suplicou ao SENHOR, e o SENHOR não se arrependeu do mal que tinha pronunciado contra eles? Assim nós poderíamos obter grande mal contra nossas almas.

²⁰ And there was also a man that prophesied in the name of the LORD, Uriah the son of Shemaiah of Kiriath-jearim; and he prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah;

²⁰ E também houve um homem que profetizou no nome do SENHOR, Urias, o filho de Semaías, de Quiriate-Jearim, que profetizou contra esta cidade, e contra esta terra, conforme todas as palavras de Jeremias.

²¹ and when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men, and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death; but when Uriah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt;

²¹ E quando o rei Jeoiaquim, com todos os seus homens poderosos, e todos os príncipes, ouviram as suas palavras, o rei procurou matá-lo. Mas quando Urias ouviu isto, temeu e fugiu, e foi para o Egito.

²² and Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, Elnathan the son of Achbor, and certain men with him, into Egypt;

²² E o rei Jeoiaquim enviou homens ao Egito, a saber: Elnatã, filho de Acbor, e alguns homens com ele ao Egito.

²³ and they fetched forth Uriah out of Egypt, and brought him unto Jehoiakim the king; who slew him with the sword, and cast his dead body into the graves of the children of the people.

²³ E eles tiraram Urias do Egito, e o trouxeram para o rei Jeoiaquim, que o matou com a espada, e lançou o seu corpo nas sepulturas do povo comum.

²⁴ Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.

²⁴ Todavia, a mão de Aicão, o filho de Safã, esteve com Jeremias, para que não o entregassem na mão do povo, para matá-lo.
