1 Then Job answered the LORD, and said:
1 Então, respondeu Jó ao Senhor :
2 I know that Thou canst do every thing, and that no purpose can be withholden from Thee.
2 Bem sei que tudo podes, e nenhum dos teus planos pode ser frustrado.
3 Who is this that hideth counsel without knowledge? Therefore have I uttered that which I understood not, things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.
3 Quem é aquele, como disseste, que sem conhecimento encobre o conselho? Na verdade, falei do que não entendia; coisas maravilhosas demais para mim, coisas que eu não conhecia.
4 Hear, I beseech Thee, and I will speak; I will demand of Thee, and declare Thou unto me.
4 Escuta-me, pois, havias dito, e eu falarei; eu te perguntarei, e tu me ensinarás.
5 I had heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear; but now mine eye seeth Thee;
5 Eu te conhecia só de ouvir, mas agora os meus olhos te veem.
6 Wherefore I abhor my words, and repent, seeing I am dust and ashes.
6 Por isso, me abomino e me arrependo no pó e na cinza.
7 And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite: 'My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends; for ye have not spoken of Me the thing that is right, as My servant Job hath.
7 Tendo o Senhor falado estas palavras a Jó, o Senhor disse também a Elifaz, o temanita: A minha ira se acendeu contra ti e contra os teus dois amigos; porque não dissestes de mim o que era reto, como o meu servo Jó.
8 Now therefore, take unto you seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to My servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt- offering; and My servant Job shall pray for you; for him will I accept, that I do not unto you aught unseemly; for ye have not spoken of Me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.'
8 Tomai, pois, sete novilhos e sete carneiros, e ide ao meu servo Jó, e oferecei holocaustos por vós. O meu servo Jó orará por vós; porque dele aceitarei a intercessão, para que eu não vos trate segundo a vossa loucura; porque vós não dissestes de mim o que era reto, como o meu servo Jó.
9 So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the LORD commanded them; and the LORD accepted Job.
9 Então, foram Elifaz, o temanita, e Bildade, o suíta, e Zofar, o naamatita, e fizeram como o Senhor lhes ordenara; e o Senhor aceitou a oração de Jó.
10 And the LORD changed the fortune of Job, when he prayed for his friends; and the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.
10 Mudou o Senhor a sorte de Jó, quando este orava pelos seus amigos; e o Senhor deu-lhe o dobro de tudo o que antes possuíra.
11 Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house; and they bemoaned him, and comforted him concerning all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him; every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one a ring of gold.
11 Então, vieram a ele todos os seus irmãos, e todas as suas irmãs, e todos quantos dantes o conheceram, e comeram com ele em sua casa, e se condoeram dele, e o consolaram de todo o mal que o Senhor lhe havia enviado; cada um lhe deu dinheiro e um anel de ouro.
12 So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning; and he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she-asses.
12 Assim, abençoou o Senhor o último estado de Jó mais do que o primeiro; porque veio a ter catorze mil ovelhas, seis mil camelos, mil juntas de bois e mil jumentas.
13 He had also seven sons and three daughters.
13 Também teve outros sete filhos e três filhas.
14 And he called the name of the first, Jemimah; and the name of the second, Keziah; and the name of the third, Keren-happuch.
14 Chamou o nome da primeira Jemima, o da outra, Quezia, e o da terceira, Quéren-Hapuque.
15 And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.
15 Em toda aquela terra não se acharam mulheres tão formosas como as filhas de Jó; e seu pai lhes deu herança entre seus irmãos.
16 And after this Job lived a hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, even four generations.
16 Depois disto, viveu Jó cento e quarenta anos; e viu a seus filhos e aos filhos de seus filhos, até à quarta geração.
17 So Job died, being old and full of days.
17 Então, morreu Jó, velho e farto de dias.
