1 In the year that Tartan came into Ashdod, when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him, and he fought against Ashdod and took it;
1 No ano em que Tartã, enviado por Sargão, rei da Assíria, veio a Asdode, atacou a cidade e a conquistou,
2 at that time the LORD spoke by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying: 'Go, and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put thy shoe from off thy foot.' And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.
2 nesse mesmo tempo o Senhor falou por meio de Isaías, filho de Amoz, dizendo: — Solte de seus lombos a roupa de pano grosseiro e tire as sandálias dos pés. Isaías fez isso, passando a andar despido e descalço.
3 And the LORD said: 'Like as My servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot to be for three years a sign and a wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia,
3 Então o Senhor disse: — Assim como o meu servo Isaías andou três anos despido e descalço, como sinal e prenúncio contra o Egito e contra a Etiópia,
4 so shall the king of Assyria lead away the captives of Egypt, and the exiles of Ethiopia, young and old, naked and barefoot, and with buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.
4 assim o rei da Assíria levará os presos do Egito e os exilados da Etiópia, tanto moços como velhos, despidos e descalços e com as nádegas descobertas, para vergonha do Egito.
5 And they shall be dismayed and ashamed, because of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.
5 Então os israelitas ficarão apavorados e envergonhados por causa dos etíopes, sua esperança, e dos egípcios, sua glória.
6 And the inhabitant of this coast-land shall say in that day: Behold, such is our expectation, whither we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria; and how shall we escape?'
6 Os moradores desta região dirão naquele dia: “Vejam o que aconteceu com aqueles em quem esperávamos e a quem recorremos para nos livrar do rei da Assíria! E, agora, como nós vamos escapar?”
