1 AND IT came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag;
1 Depois da morte de Saul, voltando Davi da derrota dos amalequitas e estando já dois dias em Ziclague,
2 it came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head; and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and prostrated himself.
2 sucedeu, ao terceiro dia, aparecer do arraial de Saul um homem com as vestes rotas e terra sobre a cabeça; em chegando ele a Davi, inclinou-se, lançando-se em terra.
3 And David said unto him: 'From whence comest thou?' And he said unto him: 'Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.'
3 Perguntou-lhe Davi: Donde vens? Ele respondeu: Fugi do arraial de Israel.
4 And David said unto him: 'How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me.' And he answered: 'The people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.'
4 Disse-lhe Davi: Como foi lá isso? Conta-mo. Ele lhe respondeu: O povo fugiu da batalha, e muitos caíram e morreram, bem como Saul e Jônatas, seu filho.
5 And David said unto the young man that told him: 'How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son are dead?'
5 Disse Davi ao moço que lhe dava as novas: Como sabes tu que Saul e Jônatas, seu filho, são mortos?
6 And the young man that told him said: 'As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and the horsemen pressed hard upon him.
6 Então, disse o moço portador das notícias: Cheguei, por acaso, à montanha de Gilboa, e eis que Saul estava apoiado sobre a sua lança, e os carros e a cavalaria apertavam com ele.
7 And when he looked behind him, he saw me, and called unto me. And I answered: Here am I.
7 Olhando ele para trás, viu-me e chamou-me. Eu disse: Eis-me aqui.
8 And he said unto me: Who art thou? And I answered him: I am an Amalekite.
8 Ele me perguntou: Quem és tu? Eu respondi: Sou amalequita.
9 And he said unto me: Stand, I pray thee, beside me, and slay me, for the agony hath taken hold of me; because my life is just yet in me.
9 Então, me disse: Arremete sobre mim e mata-me, pois me sinto vencido de cãibra, mas o tino se acha ainda todo em mim.
10 So I stood beside him, and slew him, because I was sure that he could not live after that he was fallen; and I took the crown that was upon his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them hither unto my lord.'
10 Arremessei-me, pois, sobre ele e o matei, porque bem sabia eu que ele não viveria depois de ter caído. Tomei-lhe a coroa que trazia na cabeça e o bracelete e os trouxe aqui ao meu senhor.
11 Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him.
11 Então, apanhou Davi as suas próprias vestes e as rasgou, e assim fizeram todos os homens que estavam com ele.
12 And they wailed, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.
12 Prantearam, choraram e jejuaram até à tarde por Saul, e por Jônatas, seu filho, e pelo povo do Senhor , e pela casa de Israel, porque tinham caído à espada.
13 And David said unto the young man that told him: 'Whence art thou?' And he answered: 'I am the son of an Amalekite stranger.'
13 Então, perguntou Davi ao moço portador das notícias: Donde és tu? Ele respondeu: Sou filho de um homem estrangeiro, amalequita.
14 And David said unto him: 'How wast thou not afraid to put forth thy hand to destroy the LORD'S anointed?'
14 Davi lhe disse: Como não temeste estender a mão para matares o ungido do Senhor ?
15 And David called one of the young men, and said: 'Go near, and fall upon him.' And he smote him that he died.
15 Então, chamou Davi a um dos moços e lhe disse: Vem, lança-te sobre esse homem. Ele o feriu, de sorte que morreu.
16 And David said unto him: 'Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying: I have slain the LORD'S anointed.'
16 Disse-lhe Davi: O teu sangue seja sobre a tua cabeça, porque a tua própria boca testificou contra ti, dizendo: Matei o ungido do Senhor .
17 And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son,
17 Pranteou Davi a Saul e a Jônatas, seu filho, com esta lamentação,
18 and said--To teach the sons of Judah the bow. Behold, it is written in the book of Jashar:
18 determinando que fosse ensinado aos filhos de Judá o Hino ao Arco, o qual está escrito no Livro dos Justos.
19 Thy beauty, O Israel, upon thy high places is slain! How are the mighty fallen!
19 A tua glória, ó Israel, foi morta sobre os teus altos! Como caíram os valentes!
20 Tell it not in Gath, publish it not in the streets of Ashkelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.
20 Não o noticieis em Gate, nem o publiqueis nas ruas de Asquelom, para que não se alegrem as filhas dos filisteus, nem saltem de contentamento as filhas dos incircuncisos.
21 Ye mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew nor rain upon you, neither fields of choice fruits; for there the shield of the mighty was vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, not anointed with oil.
21 Montes de Gilboa, não caia sobre vós nem orvalho, nem chuva, nem haja aí campos que produzam ofertas, pois neles foi profanado o escudo dos valentes, o escudo de Saul, que jamais será ungido com óleo.
22 From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul returned not empty.
22 Sem sangue dos feridos, sem gordura dos valentes, nunca se recolheu o arco de Jônatas, nem voltou vazia a espada de Saul.
23 Saul and Jonathan, the lovely and the pleasant in their lives, even in their death they were not divided; they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.
23 Saul e Jônatas, queridos e amáveis, tanto na vida como na morte não se separaram! Eram mais ligeiros do que as águias, mais fortes do que os leões.
24 Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet, with other delights, who put ornaments of gold upon your apparel.
24 Vós, filhas de Israel, chorai por Saul, que vos vestia de rica escarlata, que vos punha sobre os vestidos adornos de ouro.
25 How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! Jonathan upon thy high places is slain!
25 Como caíram os valentes no meio da peleja! Jônatas sobre os montes foi morto!
26 I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan; very pleasant hast thou been unto me; wonderful was thy love to me, passing the love of women.
26 Angustiado estou por ti, meu irmão Jônatas; tu eras amabilíssimo para comigo! Excepcional era o teu amor, ultrapassando o amor de mulheres.
27 How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!
27 Como caíram os valentes, e pereceram as armas de guerra!
