1 And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.
1 Tinha Absalão, filho de Davi, uma formosa irmã, cujo nome era Tamar. Amnom, filho de Davi, se enamorou dela.
2 And Amnon was so distressed that he fell sick because of his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and it seemed hard to Amnon to do any thing unto her.
2 Angustiou-se Amnom por Tamar, sua irmã, a ponto de adoecer, pois, sendo ela virgem, parecia-lhe impossível fazer-lhe coisa alguma.
3 But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother; and Jonadab was a very subtle man.
3 Tinha, porém, Amnom um amigo cujo nome era Jonadabe, filho de Simeia, irmão de Davi; Jonadabe era homem mui sagaz.
4 And he said unto him: 'Why, O son of the king, art thou thus becoming leaner from day to day? wilt thou not tell me?' And Amnon said unto him: 'I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.'
4 E ele lhe disse: Por que tanto emagreces de dia para dia, ó filho do rei? Não mo dirás? Então, lhe disse Amnom: Amo Tamar, irmã de Absalão, meu irmão.
5 And Jonadab said unto him: 'Lay thee down on thy bed, and feign thyself sick; and when thy father cometh to see thee, say unto him: Let my sister Tamar come, I pray thee, and give me bread to eat, and dress the food in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it at her hand.'
5 Disse-lhe Jonadabe: Deita-te na tua cama e finge-te doente; quando teu pai vier visitar-te, dize-lhe: Peço-te que minha irmã Tamar venha e me dê de comer pão, pois, vendo-a eu preparar-me a comida, comerei de sua mão.
6 So Amnon lay down, and feigned himself sick; and when the king was come to see him, Amnon said unto the king: 'Let my sister Tamar come, I pray thee, and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat at her hand.'
6 Deitou-se, pois, Amnom e fingiu-se doente; vindo o rei visitá-lo, Amnom lhe disse: Peço-te que minha irmã Tamar venha e prepare dois bolos à minha presença, para que eu coma de sua mão.
7 Then David sent home to Tamar, saying: 'Go now to thy brother Amnon's house, and dress him food.'
7 Então, Davi mandou dizer a Tamar em sua casa: Vai à casa de Amnom, teu irmão, e faze-lhe comida.
8 So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house; and he was lying down. And she took dough, and kneaded it, and made cakes in his sight, and did bake the cakes.
8 Foi Tamar à casa de Amnom, seu irmão, e ele estava deitado. Tomou ela a massa e a amassou, fez bolos diante dele e os cozeu.
9 And she took the pan, and poured them out before him; but he refused to eat. And Amnon said: 'Have out all men from me.' And they went out every man from him.
9 Tomou a assadeira e virou os bolos diante dele; porém ele recusou comer. Disse Amnom: Fazei retirar a todos da minha presença. E todos se retiraram.
10 And Amnon said unto Tamar: 'Bring the food into the chamber, that I may eat of thy hand.' And Tamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them into the chamber to Amnon her brother.
10 Então, disse Amnom a Tamar: Traze a comida à câmara, e comerei da tua mão. Tomou Tamar os bolos que fizera e os levou a Amnom, seu irmão, à câmara.
11 And when she had brought them near unto him to eat, he took hold of her, and said unto her: 'Come lie with me, my sister.'
11 Quando lhos oferecia para que comesse, pegou-a e disse-lhe: Vem, deita-te comigo, minha irmã.
12 And she answered him: 'Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel; do not thou this wanton deed.
12 Porém ela lhe disse: Não, meu irmão, não me forces, porque não se faz assim em Israel; não faças tal loucura.
13 And I, whither shall I carry my shame? and as for thee, thou wilt be as one of the base men in Israel. Now therefore, I pray thee, speak unto the king; for he will not withhold me from thee.'
13 Porque, aonde iria eu com a minha vergonha? E tu serias como um dos loucos de Israel. Agora, pois, peço-te que fales ao rei, porque não me negará a ti.
14 Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice; but being stronger than she, he forced her, and lay with her.
14 Porém ele não quis dar ouvidos ao que ela lhe dizia; antes, sendo mais forte do que ela, forçou-a e se deitou com ela.
15 Then Amnon hated her with exceeding great hatred; for the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her: 'Arise, be gone.'
15 Depois, Amnom sentiu por ela grande aversão, e maior era a aversão que sentiu por ela que o amor que ele lhe votara. Disse-lhe Amnom: Levanta-te, vai-te embora.
16 And she said unto him: 'Not so, because this great wrong in putting me forth is worse than the other that thou didst unto me.' But he would not hearken unto her.
16 Então, ela lhe disse: Não, meu irmão; porque maior é esta injúria, lançando-me fora, do que a outra que me fizeste. Porém ele não a quis ouvir.
17 Then he called his servant that ministered unto him, and said: 'Put now this woman out from me, and bolt the door after her.'--
17 Chamou a seu moço, que o servia, e disse: Deita fora esta e fecha a porta após ela.
18 Now she had a garment of many colours upon her; for with such robes were the king's daughters that were virgins apparelled.- -And his servant brought her out, and bolted the door after her.
18 Trazia ela uma túnica talar de mangas compridas, porque assim se vestiam as donzelas filhas do rei. Mesmo assim o servo a deitou fora e fechou a porta após ela.
19 And Tamar put ashes on her head, and rent her garment of many colours that was on her; and she laid her hand on her head, and went her way, crying aloud as she went.
19 Então, Tamar tomou cinza sobre a cabeça, rasgou a túnica talar de mangas compridas que trazia, pôs as mãos sobre a cabeça e se foi andando e clamando.
20 And Absalom her brother said unto her: 'Hath Amnon thy brother been with thee? but now hold thy peace, my sister: he is thy brother; take not this thing to heart.' So Tamar remained desolate in her brother Absalom's house.
20 Absalão, seu irmão, lhe disse: Esteve Amnom, teu irmão, contigo? Ora, pois, minha irmã, cala-te; é teu irmão. Não se angustie o teu coração por isso. Assim ficou Tamar e esteve desolada em casa de Absalão, seu irmão.
21 But when king David heard of all these things, he was very wroth.
21 Ouvindo o rei Davi todas estas coisas, muito se lhe acendeu a ira.
22 And Absalom spoke unto Amnon neither good nor bad; for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.
22 Porém Absalão não falou com Amnom nem mal nem bem; porque odiava a Amnom, por ter este forçado a Tamar, sua irmã.
23 And it came to pass after two full years, that Absalom had sheep-shearers in Baal-hazor, which is beside Ephraim; and Absalom invited all the king's sons.
23 Passados dois anos, Absalão tosquiava em Baal-Hazor, que está junto a Efraim, e convidou Absalão todos os filhos do rei.
24 And Absalom came to the king, and said: 'Behold now, thy servant hath sheep-shearers; let the king, I pray thee, and his servants go with thy servant.'
24 Foi ter Absalão com o rei e disse: Eis que teu servo faz a tosquia; peço que com o teu servo venham o rei e os seus servidores.
25 And the king said to Absalom: 'Nay, my son, let us not all go, lest we be burdensome unto thee.' And he pressed him; howbeit he would not go, but blessed him.
25 O rei, porém, disse a Absalão: Não, filho meu, não vamos todos juntos, para não te sermos pesados. Instou com ele Absalão, porém ele não quis ir; contudo, o abençoou.
26 Then said Absalom: 'If not, I pray thee, let my brother Amnon go with us.' And the king said unto him: 'Why should he go with thee?'
26 Então, disse Absalão: Se não queres ir, pelo menos deixa ir conosco Amnom, meu irmão. Porém o rei lhe disse: Para que iria ele contigo?
27 But Absalom pressed him, and he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him.
27 Insistindo Absalão com ele, deixou ir com ele Amnom e todos os filhos do rei.
28 And Absalom commanded his servants, saying: 'Mark ye now, when Amnon's heart is merry with wine; and when I say unto you: Smite Amnon, then kill him, fear not; have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant.'
28 Absalão deu ordem aos seus moços, dizendo: Tomai sentido; quando o coração de Amnom estiver alegre de vinho, e eu vos disser: Feri a Amnom, então, o matareis. Não temais, pois não sou eu quem vo-lo ordena? Sede fortes e valentes.
29 And the servants of Absalom did unto Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and every man got him up upon his mule, and fled.
29 E os moços de Absalão fizeram a Amnom como Absalão lhes havia ordenado. Então, todos os filhos do rei se levantaram, cada um montou seu mulo, e fugiram.
30 And it came to pass, while they were in the way, that the tidings came to David, saying: 'Absalom hath slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.'
30 Iam eles ainda de caminho, quando chegou a notícia a Davi: Absalão feriu todos os filhos do rei, e nenhum deles ficou.
31 Then the king arose, and rent his garments, and lay on the earth; and all his servants stood by with their clothes rent.
31 Então, o rei se levantou, rasgou as suas vestes e se lançou por terra; e todos os seus servos que estavam presentes rasgaram também as suas vestes.
32 And Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother, answered and said: 'Let not my lord suppose that they have killed all the young men the king's sons; for Amnon only is dead; for by the appointment of Absalom this hath been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.
32 Mas Jonadabe, filho de Simeia, irmão de Davi, respondeu e disse: Não pense o meu senhor que mataram a todos os jovens, filhos do rei, porque só morreu Amnom; pois assim já o revelavam as feições de Absalão, desde o dia em que sua irmã Tamar foi forçada por Amnom.
33 Now therefore let not my lord the king take the thing to his heart, to think that all the king's sons are dead; for Amnon only is dead.'
33 Não meta, pois, agora, na cabeça o rei, meu senhor, tal coisa, supondo que morreram todos os filhos do rei; porque só morreu Amnom.
34 But Absalom fled. And the young man that kept the watch lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came much people in a roundabout way by the hill-side.
34 Absalão fugiu. O moço que estava de guarda, levantando os olhos, viu que vinha muito povo pelo caminho por detrás dele, pelo lado do monte.
35 And Jonadab said unto the king: 'Behold, the king's sons are come; as thy servant said, so it is.'
35 Então, disse Jonadabe ao rei: Eis aí vêm os filhos do rei; segundo a palavra de teu servo, assim sucedeu.
36 And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of speaking, that, behold, the king's sons came, and lifted up their voice, and wept; and the king also and all his servants wept very sore.
36 Mal acabara de falar, chegavam os filhos do rei e, levantando a voz, choraram; também o rei e todos os seus servos choraram amargamente.
37 But Absalom fled, and went to Talmai the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son every day.
37 Absalão, porém, fugiu e se foi a Talmai, filho de Amiúde, rei de Gesur. E Davi pranteava a seu filho todos os dias.
38 So Absalom fled, and went to Geshur, and was there three years.
38 Assim, Absalão fugiu, indo para Gesur, onde esteve três anos.
39 And the soul of king David failed with longing for Absalom; for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing he was dead.
39 Então, o rei Davi cessou de perseguir a Absalão, porque já se tinha consolado acerca de Amnom, que era morto.
