1 Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem; and he did not that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, like David his father;
1 Acaz tinha vinte anos de idade quando começou a reinar e reinou dezesseis anos em Jerusalém. Não fez o que era reto aos olhos do Senhor , ao contrário de Davi, seu pai.
2 but he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and made also molten images for the Baalim.
2 Andou nos caminhos dos reis de Israel e até fez imagens fundidas aos baalins.
3 Moreover he offered in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.
3 Também queimou incenso no vale de Ben-Hinom e queimou os seus próprios filhos, segundo as abominações dos gentios, que o Senhor havia expulsado de diante dos filhos de Israel.
4 And he sacrificed and offered in the high places, and on the hills, and under every leafy tree.
4 Também sacrificou e queimou incenso nos lugares altos, nas colinas e debaixo de toda árvore frondosa.
5 Wherefore the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Aram; and they smote him, and carried away of his a great multitude of captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter.
5 Por isso o Senhor , seu Deus, o entregou nas mãos do rei dos sírios, os quais o derrotaram e fizeram uma grande multidão de prisioneiros, que foram levados para Damasco. Acaz também foi entregue nas mãos do rei de Israel, que lhe impôs grande derrota.
6 For Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah a hundred and twenty thousand in one day, all of them valiant men; because they had forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers.
6 Num só dia, Peca, filho de Remalias, matou em Judá cento e vinte mil, todos homens poderosos, por terem abandonado o Senhor , Deus de seus pais.
7 And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slew Maaseiah the king's son, and Azrikam the ruler of the house, and Elkanah that was next to the king.
7 Zicri, homem valente de Efraim, matou Maaseias, filho do rei, Azricão, alto oficial do palácio, e Elcana, o segundo depois do rei.
8 And the children of Israel carried away captive of their brethren two hundred thousand women, sons, and daughters, and took also away much spoil from them, and brought the spoil to Samaria.
8 Os filhos de Israel levaram presos de Judá, seu povo irmão, duzentos mil: mulheres, filhos e filhas. Saquearam também muitos despojos, que levaram para Samaria.
9 But a prophet of the LORD was there, whose name was Oded; and he went out to meet the host that came to Samaria, and said unto them: 'Behold, because the LORD, the God of your fathers, was wroth with Judah, He hath delivered them into your hand, and ye have slain them in a rage which hath reached up unto heaven.
9 Havia em Samaria um profeta do Senhor , cujo nome era Odede. Ele saiu ao encontro do exército que voltava para Samaria e lhe disse: — Eis que o
10 And now ye purpose to bring the children of Judah and Jerusalem into subjection for bondmen and bondwomen unto you; but are there not even with you acts of guilt of your own against the LORD your God?
10 Agora vocês estão querendo fazer dos filhos de Judá e de Jerusalém os seus escravos e as suas escravas. Será que vocês não são culpados diante do Senhor , seu Deus?
11 Now hear me therefore, and send back the captives, that ye have taken captive of your brethren; for the fierce wrath of the LORD is upon you.'
11 Agora escutem o que vou dizer e mandem de volta os prisioneiros que vocês fizeram entre os seus irmãos, porque o furor da ira do Senhor está sobre vocês.
12 Then certain of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Jehohanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against them that came from the war,
12 Então alguns dos chefes dos filhos de Efraim, a saber, Azarias, filho de Joanã, Berequias, filho de Mesilemote, Jeizquias, filho de Salum, e Amasa, filho de Hadlai, se levantaram contra os que voltavam da guerra
13 and said unto them: 'Ye shall not bring in the captives hither; for ye purpose that which will bring upon us guilt against the LORD, to add unto our sins and to our guilt; for our guilt is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.'
13 e lhes disseram: — Não tragam esses prisioneiros para cá, porque vocês estão querendo aumentar ainda mais os nossos pecados e a nossa culpa diante do
14 So the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the princes and all the congregation.
14 Então os homens armados deixaram os prisioneiros e o despojo diante dos chefes e de toda a congregação.
15 And the men that have been mentioned by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all that were naked among them, and arrayed them, and shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon asses, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm-trees, unto their brethren; then they returned to Samaria.
15 Os homens que foram citados nominalmente se levantaram, cuidaram dos prisioneiros e, com as roupas que estavam no meio dos despojos, vestiram todos os que estavam nus. Deram-lhes roupas, sandálias, comida, bebida, e os ungiram. Fizeram montar em jumentos todos os que estavam fracos, e os levaram até Jericó, a cidade das palmeiras, a seus irmãos. Então voltaram para Samaria.
16 At that time did king Ahaz send unto the kings of Assyria to help him.
16 Naquele tempo, o rei Acaz mandou pedir aos reis da Assíria que o ajudassem,
17 For again the Edomites had come and smitten Judah, and carried away captives.
17 porque, de novo, os edomitas tinham vindo e derrotado Judá, levando alguns prisioneiros.
18 The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the Lowland, and of the South of Judah, and had taken Beth-shemesh, and Aijalon, and Gederoth, and Soco with the towns thereof, and Timnah with the towns thereof, Gimzo also and the towns thereof; and they dwelt there.
18 Também os filisteus atacaram as cidades da Sefelá e do sul de Judá. Tomaram Bete-Semes, Aijalom, Gederote, Socó e suas aldeias, Timna e suas aldeias e Ginzo e suas aldeias; e ficaram morando ali.
19 For the LORD brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel; for he had cast away restraint in Judah, and acted treacherously against the LORD.
19 Porque o Senhor humilhou Judá por causa do rei Acaz, porque este havia permitido que Judá caísse em imoralidade e foi completamente infiel ao Senhor .
20 And Tillegath-pilneser king of Assyria came unto him, and distressed him, but strengthened him not.
20 O rei Tiglate-Pileser, da Assíria, atendeu o pedido de Acaz. Porém, em vez de ajudá-lo, deixou-o num aperto ainda maior.
21 For Ahaz stripped the house of the LORD, and the house of the king and the princes, and gave thereof unto the king of Assyria; but it helped him not.
21 Porque Acaz pegou objetos da Casa do Senhor , do palácio real e das casas dos príncipes e os deu ao rei da Assíria; porém isso não lhe serviu de nada.
22 And in the time of his distress did he act even more treacherously against the LORD, this same king Ahaz.
22 No tempo da sua angústia, foi ainda mais infiel ao Senhor ; ele mesmo, o rei Acaz.
23 For he sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus, which smote him; and he said: 'Because the gods of the kings of Aram helped them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, that they may help me.' But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.
23 Ofereceu sacrifícios aos deuses de Damasco, que o derrotaram, pois pensava: “Visto que os deuses dos reis da Síria os ajudam, eu lhes oferecerei sacrifícios para que ajudem a mim também.” Porém eles foram a sua ruína e a de todo o Israel.
24 And Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the house of the LORD; and he made him altars in every corner of Jerusalem.
24 Acaz ajuntou os utensílios da Casa de Deus, os quebrou em pedaços e fechou os portões da Casa do Senhor ; e fez para si altares em todos os cantos de Jerusalém.
25 And in every city of Judah he made high places to offer unto other gods, and provoked the LORD, the God of his fathers.
25 Em cada cidade de Judá construiu lugares altos para queimar incenso a outros deuses e assim provocou à ira o Senhor , Deus de seus pais.
26 Now the rest of his acts, and all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
26 Quanto aos demais atos de Acaz e a todos os seus caminhos, tanto os primeiros como os últimos, está tudo escrito no Livro da História dos Reis de Judá e de Israel.
27 And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem; for they brought him not into the sepulchres of the kings of Israel; and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.
27 Acaz morreu e foi sepultado na cidade de Jerusalém, mas não nos túmulos dos reis de Israel. E Ezequias, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
