1 Let euery soule be subiect vnto the higher powers: for there is no power but of God: and the powers that be, are ordeined of God.
1 Obedeçam às autoridades, todos vocês. Pois nenhuma autoridade existe sem a permissão de Deus, e as que existem foram colocadas nos seus lugares por ele.
2 Whosoeuer therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist, shall receiue to themselues condemnation.
2 Assim quem se revolta contra as autoridades está se revoltando contra o que Deus ordenou, e os que agem desse modo serão condenados.
3 For Magistrates are not to be feared for good workes, but for euill. Wilt thou then bee without feare of the power? doe well: so shalt thou haue praise of the same.
3 Somente os que fazem o mal devem ter medo dos governantes, e não os que fazem o bem. Se você não quiser ter medo das autoridades, então faça o que é bom, e elas o elogiarão.
4 For he is ye minister of God for thy wealth, but if thou do euill, feare: for he beareth not the sworde for nought: for he is the minister of God to take vengeance on him that doeth euill.
4 Porque as autoridades estão a serviço de Deus para o bem de você. Mas, se você faz o mal, então tenha medo, pois as autoridades, de fato, têm poder para castigar. Elas estão a serviço de Deus e trazem o castigo dele sobre os que fazem o mal.
5 Wherefore ye must bee subiect, not because of wrath only, but also for conscience sake.
5 É por isso que você deve obedecer às autoridades; não somente por causa do castigo de Deus, mas também porque a sua consciência manda que você faça isso.
6 For, for this cause ye pay also tribute: for they are Gods ministers, applying themselues for the same thing.
6 É por isso também que vocês pagam impostos. Pois, quando as autoridades cumprem os seus deveres, elas estão a serviço de Deus.
7 Giue to all men therefore their duetie: tribute, to whome yee owe tribute: custome, to whom custome: feare, to whome feare: honour, to whom ye owe honour.
7 Portanto, paguem ao governo o que é devido. Paguem todos os seus impostos e respeitem e honrem todas as autoridades.
8 Owe nothing to any man, but to loue one another: for he that loueth another, hath fulfilled the Lawe.
8 Não fiquem devendo nada a ninguém. A única dívida que vocês devem ter é a de amar uns aos outros. Quem ama os outros está obedecendo à lei .
9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adulterie, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steale, Thou shalt not beare false witnes, Thou shalt not couet: and if there be any other commandement, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, euen in this, Thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe.
9 Os seguintes mandamentos: “Não cometa adultério, não mate, não roube, não cobice” — esses e ainda outros mais são resumidos num mandamento só: “Ame os outros como você ama a você mesmo.”
10 Loue doeth not euill to his neighbour: therefore is loue the fulfilling of the Lawe.
10 Quem ama os outros não faz mal a eles. Portanto, amar é obedecer a toda a lei.
11 And that, considering the season, that it is now time that we should arise from sleepe: for now is our saluation neerer, then when we beleeued it.
11 Vocês precisam fazer todas essas coisas porque sabem em que tempo nós estamos vivendo; chegou a hora de vocês acordarem, pois o momento de sermos salvos está mais perto agora do que quando começamos a crer.
12 The night is past, and the day is at hande, let vs therefore cast away the workes of darkenesse, and let vs put on the armour of light,
12 A noite está terminando, e o dia vem chegando. Por isso paremos de fazer o que pertence à escuridão e peguemos as armas espirituais para lutar na luz.
13 So that wee walke honestly, as in the day: not in gluttonie, and drunkennesse, neither in chambering and wantonnes, nor in strife and enuying.
13 Vivamos decentemente, como pessoas que vivem na luz do dia. Nada de farras ou bebedeiras, nem imoralidade ou indecência, nem brigas ou ciúmes.
14 But put yee on the Lord JESUS CHRIST, and take no thought for the flesh, to fulfill the lustes of it.
14 Mas tenham as qualidades que o Senhor Jesus Cristo tem e não procurem satisfazer os maus desejos da natureza humana de vocês.
