1 I Demaund then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid: for I also am an Israelite, of the seede of Abraham, of the tribe of Beniamin.
1 Então, eu digo: Rejeitou Deus o seu povo? De forma alguma! Porque eu também sou israelita, da semente de Abraão, da tribo de Benjamim.
2 God hath not cast away his people which he knew before. Know ye not what the Scripture sayth of Elias, howe hee communeth with God against Israel, saying,
2 Deus não rejeitou o seu povo, que antes conheceu. Ou não sabeis o que a escritura diz de Elias, como ele intercede a Deus contra Israel, dizendo:
3 Lord, they haue killed thy Prophets, and digged downe thine altars: and I am left alone, and they seeke my life?
3 Senhor, eles mataram os teus profetas e derrubaram os teus altares; e eu fiquei sozinho, e eles buscam a minha vida.
4 But what saith the answere of God to him? I haue reserued vnto my selfe seuen thousand men, which haue not bowed the knee to Baal.
4 Mas o que lhe diz a resposta de Deus? Eu reservei para mim sete mil homens, que não dobraram os joelhos diante da imagem de Baal.
5 Euen so then at this present time is there a remnant according to the election of grace.
5 Assim, então, também no tempo presente há um remanescente, de acordo com a eleição da graça.
6 And if it be of grace, it is no more of workes: or els were grace no more grace: but if it be of workes, it is no more grace: or els were worke no more worke.
6 E se é por graça, então não é mais por obras; caso contrário, a graça não é mais graça. Mas se for por obras, então não é mais por graça, do contrário a obra não é mais obra.
7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that he sought: but the election hath obteined it, and the rest haue bene hardened,
7 O que então? Israel não conseguiu o que buscava; mas os eleitos conseguiram, e os demais ficaram cegos.
8 According as it is written, God hath giuen them the spirit of slumber: eyes that they should not see, and eares that they should not heare vnto this day.
8 (De acordo como está escrito: Deus lhes deu um espírito de sonolência, olhos para não verem e ouvidos para não ouvirem), até este dia.
9 And Dauid sayth, Let their table be made a snare, and a net, and a stumbling blocke, euen for a recompence vnto them.
9 E Davi diz: Que a sua mesa se torne em laço, e em armadilha, e em pedra de tropeço, e em recompensa para eles;
10 Let their eyes be darkened that they see not, and bowe downe their backe alwayes.
10 sejam escurecidos os seus olhos, para que eles não vejam, e para que encurvem continuamente as costas.
11 I demaund then, Haue they stumbled, that they should fall? God forbid: but through their fall, saluation commeth vnto the Gentiles, to prouoke them to follow them.
11 Então, eu digo: Eles tropeçaram para que caíssem? De forma alguma! Mas, antes, pela sua queda, a salvação veio aos gentios, para provocar-lhes ciúme.
12 Wherefore if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles, how much more shall their aboundance be?
12 Ora, se a sua queda é a riqueza do mundo, e a sua diminuição a riqueza dos gentios, quanto mais a sua plenitude?
13 For in that I speake to you Gentiles, in as much as I am the Apostle of ye Gentiles, I magnifie mine office,
13 Porque eu falo a vós, gentios; na medida em que eu sou apóstolo dos gentios, eu magnifico o meu ofício;
14 To trie if by any meanes I might prouoke them of my flesh to follow them, and might saue some of them.
14 para ver se de alguma maneira eu posso provocar ciúmes aos que são da minha carne e salvar alguns deles.
15 For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiuing be, but life from the dead?
15 Porque se a sua rejeição é a reconciliação do mundo, qual será a sua aceitação, senão a vida dentre os mortos?
16 For if the first fruites be holy, so is the whole lumpe: and if the roote be holy, so are the branches.
16 E, se os primeiros frutos são santos, a massa também é santa; e se a raiz for santa, assim serão os ramos.
17 And though some of the branches be broken off, and thou being a wilde Oliue tree, wast graft in for them, and made partaker of the roote, and fatnesse of the Oliue tree.
17 E se alguns dos ramos foram quebrados, e tu, sendo uma oliveira silvestre, foste enxertado entre eles, e feito participante da raiz e da seiva da oliveira,
18 Boast not thy selfe against the branches: and if thou boast thy selfe, thou bearest not the roote, but the roote thee.
18 não te glories contra os ramos; mas se te gloriares, não és tu que sustentas a raiz, mas a raiz a ti.
19 Thou wilt say then, The branches are broken off, that I might be graft in.
19 Tu então dirias: Os ramos foram quebrados para que eu pudesse ser enxertado.
20 Well: through vnbeliefe they are broken off, and thou standest by faith: bee not hie minded, but feare.
20 Bem, por sua incredulidade eles foram quebrados, e tu estás em pé pela fé. Não sejas arrogante, mas teme.
21 For if God spared not the naturall branches, take heede, least he also spare not thee.
21 Porque, se Deus não poupou os ramos naturais, cuida para que ele não poupe a ti também.
22 Beholde therefore the bountifulnesse, and seueritie of God: towarde them which haue fallen, seueritie: but toward thee, bountifulnesse, if thou continue in his bountifulnesse: or els thou shalt also be cut off.
22 Vê, pois, a bondade e a severidade de Deus; para com os que caíram, severidade, mas para contigo, a bondade, se permaneceres na sua bondade, do contrário, tu também serás cortado.
23 And they also, if they abide not still in vnbeliefe, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graffe them in againe.
23 E eles também, se não permanecerem na incredulidade, serão enxertados; pois Deus é capaz de enxertá-los novamente.
24 For if thou wast cut out of the Oliue tree, which was wilde by nature, and wast graffed contrary to nature in a right Oliue tree, how much more shall they that are by nature, bee graffed in their owne Oliue tree?
24 Porque, se tu foste cortado da oliveira, que é silvestre por natureza, e contra a natureza foste enxertado na oliveira boa, quanto mais esses, que são ramos naturais, serão enxertados na sua própria oliveira?
25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this secret (least ye should bee arrogant in your selues) that partly obstinacie is come to Israel, vntill the fulnesse of the Gentiles be come in.
25 Porque eu não quero irmãos, que ignoreis este mistério, para que não sejais sábios em seus próprios conceitos, que a cegueira aconteceu em parte a Israel, até que tenha entrado a plenitude dos gentios.
26 And so all Israel shalbe saued, as it is written, The deliuerer shall come out of Sion, and shall turne away the vngodlinesse from Iacob.
26 E assim todo o Israel será salvo, como está escrito: Virá de Sião o Libertador, e desviará de Jacó as impiedades.
27 And this is my couenant to them, When I shall take away their sinnes.
27 E este será o meu pacto com eles, quando eu tirar os seus pecados.
28 As concerning the Gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloued for the fathers sakes.
28 Quanto ao evangelho, eles são inimigos por causa de vós; mas quanto à eleição, eles são amados por causa dos pais.
29 For the giftes and calling of God are without repentance.
29 Porque os dons e o chamado de Deus são sem arrependimento.
30 For euen as yee in times past haue not beleeued God, yet haue nowe obteined mercie through their vnbeliefe:
30 Porque assim como vós também em tempos passados não críeis em Deus, mas agora alcançastes misericórdia pela desobediência deles,
31 Euen so nowe haue they not beleeued by the mercie shewed vnto you, that they also may obtaine mercie.
31 assim também estes agora não creram, para que através da sua misericórdia eles também pudessem alcançar misericórdia.
32 For God hath shut vp all in vnbeliefe, that he might haue mercie on all.
32 Porque Deus encerrou a todos na incredulidade, para que ele pudesse ter misericórdia sobre todos.
33 O the deepenesse of the riches, both of the wisdome, and knowledge of God! howe vnsearcheable are his iudgements, and his wayes past finding out!
33 Ó profundidade das riquezas, da sabedoria e do conhecimento de Deus! Quão insondáveis são os seus juízos, e quão inescrutáveis, os seus caminhos!
34 For who hath knowen the minde of the Lord? or who was his counsellour?
34 Pois, quem conheceu a mente do Senhor? Ou quem foi seu conselheiro?
35 Or who hath giuen vnto him first, and he shalbe recompensed?
35 Ou quem lhe deu primeiro, para que lhe seja recompensado?
36 For of him, and through him, and for him are all things: to him be glory for euer. Amen.
36 Porque dele, e por ele, e para ele, são todas as coisas; a ele seja a glória para sempre! Amém.
