1 Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the sonne of Hepher, the sonne of Gilead, the sonne of Machir, the sonne of Manasseh, of the familie of Manasseh, the sonne of Ioseph (and the names of his daughters were these, Mahlah, Noah and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah)
1 Aproximaram-se então as filhas de Salafaad, filho de Hefer, filho de Galaad, filho de Maquir, filho de Manassés, filho de José. Seus nomes eram Maala, Noa, Hegla, Melca e Tersa.
2 And stoode before Moses, and before Eleazar the Priest, and before the Princes, and all the assemblie, at the doore of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, saying,
2 Elas apresentaram-se diante de Moisés e do sacerdote Eleazar, e diante dos principais e de toda a assembléia, à entrada da tenda de reunião:
3 Our father dyed in the wildernes, and he was not among the assemblie of them that were assembled against the Lord in the companie of Korah, but died in his sinne, and had no sonnes.
3 "Nosso pai, disseram elas, morreu no deserto, e não tomou parte na sedição excitada por Coré contra o Senhor; mas morreu por causa de seu próprio pecado. Ora, ele não teve filhos.
4 Wherefore should the name of our father be taken away from among his familie, because he hath no sonne? giue vs a possession among the brethren of our father.
4 Por que razão há de desaparecer o nome de sua família, por não ter tido filho algum? Dá-nos uma propriedade entre os irmãos de nosso pai."
5 Then Moses brought their cause before the Lord.
5 Moisés levou a sua causa diante do Senhor,
6 And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
6 que lhe disse:
7 The daughters of Zelophehad speake right: thou shalt giue them a possession to inherite among their fathers brethren, and shalt turne the inheritance of their father vnto them.
7 "As filhas de Salafaad têm razão. Dar-lhes-ás uma propriedade como herança entre os irmãos de seu pai, para que elas lhe sucedam na herança.
8 Also thou shalt speake vnto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die and haue no sonne, then ye shall turne his inheritaunce vnto his daughter.
8 Dirás aos israelitas: se um homem morrer sem deixar filhos, a herança passara à sua filha;
9 And if he haue no daughter, ye shall giue his inheritance vnto his brethren.
9 se não tiver filhas, será dada aos seus irmãos.
10 And if he haue no brethren, ye shall giue his inheritance vnto his fathers brethren.
10 Se não tiver irmãos, a herança passará aos irmãos de seu pai,
11 And if his father haue no brethren, ye shall giue his inheritance vnto his next kinsman of his familie, and he shall possesse it: and this shall be vnto the children of Israel a law of iudgement, as the Lord hath commanded Moses.
11 e se seu pai não tiver irmãos, será dada ao seu parente mais próximo em sua família, e este último tornar-se-á seu possessor. Esta será para os filhos de Israel uma prescrição de direito, assim como o Senhor ordenou a Moisés."
12 Againe the Lord said vnto Moses, Go vp into this mount of Abarim, and behold ye lande which I haue giuen vnto the children of Israel.
12 O Senhor disse a Moisés: "Sobe a esse monte Abarim, e contempla a terra que eu hei de dar aos israelitas.
13 And when thou hast seene it, thou shalt be gathered vnto thy people also, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.
13 Depois de a teres visto, serás reunido aos teus, como o teu irmão Aarão,
14 For ye were disobedient vnto my worde in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the assemblie, to sanctifie me in the waters before their eyes. That is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wildernesse of Zin.
14 porque, no deserto de Sin, na contenda da assembléia, fostes rebeldes à minha ordem, não manifestando a minha santidade diante deles na questão das águas." {Trata-se das águas de Meribá, em Cades, no deserto de Sin.}
15 Then Moses spake vnto the Lord, saying,
15 Moisés disse ao Senhor:
16 Let the Lord God of the spirits of all flesh appoint a man ouer the Congregation,
16 "O Senhor Deus dos espíritos e de toda a carne escolha um homem que chefie a assembléia,
17 Who may goe out and in before them, and leade them out and in, that the Congregation of the Lord be not as sheepe, which haue not a shepheard.
17 que marche à sua frente e guie os seus passos, para que a assembléia do Senhor não seja como um rebanho sem pastor."
18 And the Lord said vnto Moses, Take thee Ioshua the sonne of Nun, in whom is the Spirite, and put thine handes vpon him,
18 O Senhor respondeu a Moisés: "Toma Josué, filho de Nun, no qual reside o Espírito, e impõe-lhe a mão.
19 And set him before Eleazar the Priest, and before all the Congregation, and giue him a charge in their sight.
19 Apresentá-lo-ás ao sacerdote Eleazar e a toda a assembléia, e o empossarás sob os seus olhos.
20 And giue him of thy glory, that all the Congregation of ye children of Israel may obey.
20 Tu o investirás de tua autoridade, a fim de que toda a assembléia dos israelitas lhe obedeça.
21 And he shall stande before Eleazar the Priest, who shall aske counsell for him by the iudgement of Vrim before the Lord: at his worde they shall goe out, and at his worde they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him and all the Congregation.
21 Ele se apresentará ao sacerdote Eleazar, que consultará por ele o oráculo de Urim diante do Senhor; é segundo essa ordem que se conduzirão, ele e toda a assembléia dos israelitas."
22 So Moses did as the Lord had commanded him, and he tooke Ioshua, and set him before Eleazar the Priest, and before all the Congregation.
22 Moisés fez como o Senhor tinha ordenado. Tomou Josué e apresentou-o ao sacerdote Eleazar, bem como a toda a assembléia.
23 Then he put his handes vpon him, and gaue him a charge, as the Lord had spoken by the hand of Moses.
23 Impôs-lhe as mãos e empossou-o assim como o Senhor tinha ordenado pela boca de Moisés.
