1 And on that day did they reade in the booke of Moses, in the audience of the people, and it was found written therein, that the Ammonite, and the Moabite should not enter into the Congregation of God,
1 Naquele dia, eles leram o livro de Moisés aos ouvidos do povo; e achou-se escrito, que o amonita e o moabita não deveriam jamais entrar na congregação de Deus;
2 Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, that he should curse them: and our God turned the curse into a blessing.
2 porque eles não atenderam os filhos de Israel com pão e com água, mas contra eles contrataram Balaão, para que ele pudesse lhes amaldiçoar; todavia, o nosso Deus tornou a maldição em bênção.
3 Now when they had heard the Lawe, they separated from Israel all those that were mixed.
3 Ora, sucedeu, quando eles tinham ouvido a lei, que eles se separaram de Israel e se misturaram à multidão.
4 And before this had the Priest Eliashib the ouersight of the chamber of the house of our God, being kinsman to Tobiah:
4 E diante disso, Eliasibe, o sacerdote, tendo a supervisão da câmara da casa do nosso Deus, estava aliado a Tobias;
5 And he had made him a great chamber and there had they aforetime layde the offringes, the incense, and the vessels, and the tithes of corne, of wine, and of oyle (appointed for the Leuites, and the singers, and the porters) and the offringes of the Priests.
5 e ele havia lhe preparado uma grande câmara, onde anteriormente eles lançavam as ofertas de carne, o incenso, e os vasos, e os dízimos do grão, o vinho novo, e o azeite, os quais foram ordenados a serem dados aos levitas, e aos cantores, e aos porteiros; e as ofertas dos sacerdotes.
6 But in all this time was not I in Ierusalem: for in the two and thirtieth yere of Artahshashte King of Babel, came I vnto the King, and after certaine dayes I obteined of the King.
6 Em todo esse tempo, porém, eu não estava em Jerusalém; porque no trigésimo segundo ano de Artaxerxes, rei de Babilônia, adentrei eu ao rei e, depois de certos dias, obtive licença da parte do rei;
7 And when I was come to Ierusalem, I vnderstood the euil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah, in that hee had made him a chamber in the court of the house of God,
7 e vim até Jerusalém, e entendi o mal que Eliasibe fizera para Tobias, ao lhe preparar uma câmara nos átrios da casa de Deus.
8 And it grieued me sore: therefore I cast forth all the vessels of the house of Tobiah out of the chamber.
8 E isto me angustiou muito; por isso lancei todos utensílios da casa de Tobias fora da câmara.
9 And I commanded them to clense ye chambers: and thither brought I againe the vessels of the house of God with the meate offring and the incense.
9 Então por minha ordem limparam as câmaras; e para lá eu trouxe de volta os vasos da casa de Deus, com a oferta de carne e o incenso.
10 And I perceiued that the portions of the Leuites had not bene giuen, and that euery one was fled to his lande, euen the Leuites and singers that executed the worke.
10 E eu percebi que as porções dos levitas não haviam sido entregues a eles; porquanto os levitas e os cantores, que faziam a obra, haviam fugido, cada um para o seu campo.
11 Then reproued I the rulers and sayd, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I assembled them, and set them in their place.
11 Então eu contendi com os governantes, e disse: Por que a casa de Deus está abandonada? E eu reuni a todos, e coloquei-os nos seus lugares.
12 Then brought all Iudah the tithes of corne and of wine, and of oyle vnto the treasures.
12 Então, todo o Judá trouxe o dízimo do grão e do vinho novo e do óleo aos celeiros.
13 And I made treasurers ouer the treasures, Shelemiah the Priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Leuites, Pedaiah, and vnder their hande Hanan the sonne of Zaccur the sonne of Mattaniah: for they were counted faithfull, and their office was to distribute vnto their brethren.
13 E eu fiz tesoureiros sobre os celeiros, Selemias, o sacerdote, e a Zadoque, o escriba, e dos levitas, Pedaías; e próximo a eles estava Hanã, o filho de Zacur, o filho de Matanias; porque se tinham achado fiéis, e o seu ofício era distribuir aos seus irmãos.
14 Remember me, O my God, herein, and wipe not out my kindenes that I haue shewed on the house of my God, and on the offices thereof.
14 Lembra-te de mim, ó Deus meu, acerca disso, e não apagues as boas obras que eu tenho feito para a casa do meu Deus, e para os seus ofícios.
15 In those dayes saw I in Iudah them, that trode wine presses on ye Sabbath, and that brought in sheaues, and which laded asses also with wine, grapes, and figges, and all burdens, and brought them into Ierusalem vpon the Sabbath day: and I protested to them in the day that they sold vitailes.
15 Naqueles dias eu vi em Judá alguns pisoteando lagares no shabat, e trazendo feixes que carregavam sobre os jumentos; como também vinho, uvas, e figos, e toda sorte de cargas, as quais eles traziam para Jerusalém no dia do shabat; e eu testifiquei contra eles no dia em que vendiam mantimentos.
16 There dwelt men of Tyrus also therein, which brought fish and all wares, and solde on the Sabbath vnto the children of Iudah euen in Ierusalem.
16 Também habitavam ali homens de Tiro, os quais traziam peixes, e toda sorte de mercadorias, e vendiam no shabat para os filhos de Judá, e em Jerusalém.
17 Then reprooued I the rulers of Iudah, and sayd vnto them, What euil thing is this that yee doe, and breake the Sabbath day?
17 Então contendi com os nobres de Judá, e lhes disse: Que maldade é esta que fazeis, profanando o dia do shabat?
18 Did not your fathers thus, and our God brought all this plague vpon vs, and vpon this citie? yet yee increase the wrath vpon Israel, in breaking the Sabbath.
18 Não fizeram assim os vossos pais, e não trouxe o nosso Deus este mal sobre nós, e sobre esta cidade? Todavia trazeis mais ira sobre Israel ao profanares o shabat.
19 And when the gates of Ierusalem beganne to be darke before the Sabbath, I commaded to shut the gates, and charged, that they should not be opened til after the Sabbath, and some of my seruants set I at the gates, that there shoulde no burden be brought in on the Sabbath day.
19 E sucedeu que, quando os portões de Jerusalém começaram a ficar escuros antes do shabat, eu ordenei que os portões fossem fechados, e instruí que não fossem abertos até passar o shabat; e alguns dos meus servos se puseram junto aos portões, para que nenhuma carga entrasse no dia do shabat.
20 So the chapmen and marchants of al marchandise remained once or twise all night without Ierusalem.
20 Assim, os mercadores e vendedores de toda mercadoria se alojavam fora de Jerusalém uma ou duas vezes.
21 And I protested among them, and said vnto them, Why tary ye all night about the wall? If ye do it once againe, I will lay hands vpon you. from that time came they no more on the Sabbath.
21 Então eu testifiquei contra eles, e disse-lhes: Por que vos alojeis próximo da muralha? Se outra vez o fizerdes, lançarei mãos sobre vós. Daquela hora em diante eles não vieram mais no shabat.
22 And I sayde vnto the Leuites, that they should clense themselues, and that they shoulde come and keepe the gates, to sanctifie the Sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and pardon me according to thy great mercy.
22 E eu ordenei aos levitas que eles deveriam se purificar, e que deveriam vir e guardar os portões, para santificar o dia do shabat. Lembra-te de mim, ó Deus meu, acerca disso, e poupa-me de acordo com a grandeza da tua misericórdia.
23 In those dayes also I saw Iewes that married wiues of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab.
23 Naqueles dias, vi também os judeus que haviam se casado com esposas de Asdode, de Amom, e de Moabe;
24 And their children spake halfe in ye speach of Ashdod, and could not speake in the Iewes language, and according to the language of the one people, and of the other people.
24 e os seus filhos falavam metade na fala de Asdode, e não conseguiam falar na língua dos judeus, mas de acordo com a língua de cada povo.
25 Then I reprooued them, and cursed them, and smote certaine of them, and pulled off their heare, and tooke an othe of them by God, Yee shall not giue your daughters vnto their sonnes, neither shall ye take of their daughters vnto your sonnes, nor for your selues.
25 E eu contendi com eles, e os amaldiçoei, e feri alguns deles, e arranquei-lhes os cabelos, e fiz com que eles jurassem por Deus, dizendo: Vós não dareis as vossas filhas aos filhos deles, tampouco tomareis as filhas deles para os vossos filhos, ou para vós mesmos.
26 Did not Salomon the king of Israel sinne by these thinges? yet among many nations was there no King like him: for he was beloued of his God, and God had made him King ouer Israel: yet strange women caused him to sinne.
26 Não pecou Salomão, rei de Israel, por estas coisas? Todavia, entre muitas nações não havia rei como ele, que fosse amado pelo seu Deus, e Deus o fez rei sobre todo o Israel; contudo, as mulheres estrangeiras o fizeram pecar.
27 Shall wee then obey vnto you, to doe all this great euil, and to transgresse against our God, euen to marry strange wiues?
27 Então, atentaremos a vós para fazer todo este grande mal, para transgredir contra o nosso Deus ao vos casardes com esposas estrangeiras?
28 And one of the sonnes of Ioiada the sonne of Eliashib the hie Priest was the sonne in law of Sanballat the Horonite: but I chased him from me.
28 E um dos filhos de Joiada, o filho de Eliasibe, o sumo sacerdote, era genro de Sambalate, o horonita; por isso eu o afugentei de mim.
29 Remember them, O my God, that defile the Priesthoode, and the couenant of the Priesthoode, and of the Leuites.
29 Lembra-te deles, ó Deus meu, pois contaminaram o sacerdócio, e o pacto do sacerdócio, e dos levitas.
30 Then cleansed I them from all strangers, and appoynted the wardes of the Priestes and of the Leuites, euery one in his office,
30 Assim, eu os purifiquei de todos os estrangeiros, e indiquei os guardas dos sacerdotes e dos levitas, cada um na sua ocupação;
31 And for the offring of the wood at times appoynted, and for the first fruites. Remember me, O my God, in goodnes.
31 e para a oferta de lenha, nos tempos determinados e para os primeiros frutos. Lembra-te de mim, ó Deus meu, para o bem.
