1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord whom ye seeke, shall speedely come to his Temple: euen the messenger of the couenant whom ye desire: beholde, he shall come, sayth the Lord of hostes.
1 Eis que eu envio o meu mensageiro, que preparará o caminho diante de mim; e de repente virá ao seu templo o Senhor, a quem vós buscais; e o mensageiro da aliança, a quem vós desejais, eis que ele vem, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos.
2 But who may abide the day of his comming? and who shall endure, when he appeareth? for he is like a purging fire, and like fullers sope.
2 Mas quem suportará o dia da sua vinda? E quem subsistirá, quando ele aparecer? Porque ele será como o fogo do ourives e como o sabão dos lavandeiros.
3 And he shall sit downe to trye and fine the siluer: he shall euen fine the sonnes of Leui and purifie them as golde and siluer, that they may bring offerings vnto the Lord in righteousnesse.
3 E assentar-se-á como fundidor e purificador de prata; e purificará os filhos de Levi, e os refinará como ouro e como prata; então ao Senhor trarão oferta em justiça.
4 Then shall the offerings of Iudah and Ierusalem be acceptable vnto the Lord, as in old time and in the yeeres afore.
4 E a oferta de Judá e de Jerusalém será agradável ao Senhor, como nos dias antigos, e como nos primeiros anos.
5 And I will come neere to you to iudgement, and I will be a swift witnesse against the southsayers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that wrongfully keepe backe the hirelings wages, and vexe the widowe, and the fatherlesse, and oppresse the stranger, and feare not me, sayth the Lord of hostes.
5 E chegar-me-ei a vós para juízo; e serei uma testemunha veloz contra os feiticeiros, contra os adúlteros, contra os que juram falsamente, contra os que defraudam o diarista em seu salário, e a viúva, e o órfão, e que pervertem o direito do estrangeiro, e não me temem, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.
6 For I am the Lord: I change not, and ye sonnes of Iaakob are not consumed.
6 Porque eu, o Senhor, não mudo; por isso vós, ó filhos de Jacó, não sois consumidos.
7 From the dayes of your fathers, ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and haue not kept them: returne vnto me, and I will returne vnto you, saith the Lord of hostes: but ye saide, Wherein shall we returne?
7 Desde os dias de vossos pais vos desviastes dos meus estatutos, e não os guardastes; tornai-vos para mim, e eu me tornarei para vós, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos; mas vós dizeis: Em que havemos de tornar?
8 Will a man spoyle his gods? yet haue ye spoyled me: but ye say, Wherein haue we spoyled thee? In tithes, and offerings.
8 Roubará o homem a Deus? Todavia vós me roubais, e dizeis: Em que te roubamos? Nos dízimos e nas ofertas.
9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye haue spoyled me, euen this whole nation.
9 Com maldição sois amaldiçoados, porque a mim me roubais, sim, toda esta nação.
10 Bring ye all the tythes into the storehouse that there may be meate in mine House, and proue me nowe herewith, sayeth the Lord of hostes, if I will not open the windowes of heauen vnto you, and powre you out a blessing without measure.
10 Trazei todos os dízimos à casa do tesouro, para que haja mantimento na minha casa, e depois fazei prova de mim nisto, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, se eu não vos abrir as janelas do céu, e não derramar sobre vós uma bênção tal até que não haja lugar suficiente para a recolherdes.
11 And I will rebuke the deuourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruite of your grounde, neither shall your vine be baren in the fielde, sayeth the Lord of hostes.
11 E por causa de vós repreenderei o devorador, e ele não destruirá os frutos da vossa terra; e a vossa vide no campo não será estéril, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.
12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a pleasant lande, sayeth the Lord of hostes.
12 E todas as nações vos chamarão bem-aventurados; porque vós sereis uma terra deleitosa, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.
13 Your wordes haue bene stout against me, sayeth the Lord: yet ye say, What haue we spoken against thee?
13 As vossas palavras foram agressivas para mim, diz o Senhor; mas vós dizeis: Que temos falado contra ti?
14 Ye haue saide, It is in vaine to serue God: and what profite is it that we haue kept his commandement, and that we walked humbly before the Lord of hostes?
14 Vós tendes dito: Inútil é servir a Deus; que nos aproveita termos cuidado em guardar os seus preceitos, e em andar de luto diante do Senhor dos Exércitos?
15 Therefore wee count the proude blessed: euen they that worke wickednesse, are set vp, and they that tempt God, yea, they are deliuered.
15 Ora, pois, nós reputamos por bem-aventurados os soberbos; também os que cometem impiedade são edificados; sim, eles tentam a Deus, e escapam.
16 Then spake they that feared the Lord, euery one to his neighbour, and the Lord hearkened and heard it, and a booke of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought vpon his Name.
16 Então aqueles que temeram ao Senhor falaram freqüentemente um ao outro; e o Senhor atentou e ouviu; e um memorial foi escrito diante dele, para os que temeram o Senhor, e para os que se lembraram do seu nome.
17 And they shall be to me, sayeth the Lord of hostes, in that day that I shall do this, for a flocke, and I will spare them, as a man spareth his owne sonne that serueth him.
17 E eles serão meus, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos; naquele dia serão para mim jóias; poupá-los-ei, como um homem poupa a seu filho, que o serve.
18 Then shall you returne, and discerne betweene the righteous and wicked, betweene him that serueth God, and him that serueth him not.
18 Então voltareis e vereis a diferença entre o justo e o ímpio; entre o que serve a Deus, e o que não o serve.
