1 Howe doeth the citie remaine solitarie that was full of people? she is as a widowe: she that was great among the nations, and princesse among the prouinces, is made tributarie.
1 A cidade que antes era cheia de gente agora está deserta. Antes era grande entre as nações, agora está sozinha, como uma viúva. Antes era rainha de toda a terra, agora é escrava.
2 She weepeth continually in the night, and her teares runne downe by her cheekes: among all her louers, she hath none to comfort her: all her friendes haue delt vnfaithfully with her, and are her enemies.
2 Ela passa a noite aos prantos; lágrimas correm por seu rosto. De todos os seus amantes, não resta um sequer para consolá-la. Todos os seus amigos a traíram e se tornaram seus inimigos.
3 Iudah is caried away captiue because of affliction, and because of great seruitude: shee dwelleth among the heathen, and findeth no rest: all her persecuters tooke her in the straites.
3 Judá foi levada para o exílio e oprimida com cruel escravidão. Vive entre as nações e não tem lugar para descansar. Seus inimigos a perseguiram, e ela não tem a quem recorrer.
4 The wayes of Zion lament, because no man commeth to the solemne feastes: all her gates are desolate: her Priests sigh: her virgins are discomfited, and she is in heauinesse.
4 As estradas para Sião estão de luto, pois as multidões já não vêm celebrar as festas. Os portões da cidade estão em silêncio, os sacerdotes gemem, as moças choram. Como é amargo seu destino!
5 Her aduersaries are the chiefe, and her enemies prosper: for the Lord hath afflicted her, for the multitude of her transgressions, and her children are gone into captiuitie before the enemie.
5 Seus adversários se tornaram seus senhores, e seus inimigos prosperam, pois o S por seus muitos pecados. Seus filhos foram capturados e levados para o exílio.
6 And from the daughter of Zion all her beautie is departed: her princes are become like harts that finde no pasture, and they are gone without strength before the pursuer.
6 A bela Sião foi despojada de toda a sua majestade. Seus príncipes são como cervos famintos em busca de pasto. Estão fracos demais para fugir do inimigo que os persegue.
7 Ierusalem remembred the dayes of her affliction, and of her rebellion, and all her pleasant things, that shee had in times past, when her people fell into the hande of the enemie, and none did helpe her: the aduersarie sawe her, and did mocke at her Sabbaths.
7 Em meio à sua tristeza e às suas andanças, Jerusalém se lembra de seu antigo esplendor. Agora, porém, caiu nas mãos de seu inimigo, e não há quem a ajude. Seu inimigo a derrubou e zombou de sua queda.
8 Ierusalem hath grieuously sinned, therefore shee is in derision: all that honoured her, despise her, because they haue seene her filthinesse: yea, she sigheth and turneth backeward.
8 Jerusalém pecou terrivelmente, por isso foi jogada fora como trapo imundo. Todos que antes a honravam agora a desprezam, pois a viram nua e humilhada. Só resta a ela gemer e esconder o rosto.
9 Her filthinesse is in her skirts: she remembred not her last ende, therefore she came downe wonderfully: she had no comforter: O Lord, behold mine affliction: for the enemie is proud.
9 Com sua impureza, contaminou as vestes e não pensou nas consequências. Agora está caída no chão, e não há quem a levante. “S “O inimigo triunfou.”
10 The enemie hath stretched out his hande vpon al her pleasant things: for she hath seene the heathen enter into her Sanctuarie, whom thou diddest commande, that they shoulde not enter into thy Church.
10 O inimigo a saqueou e levou todos os seus valiosos bens. Ela viu estrangeiros profanarem seu templo sagrado, o lugar em que o S
11 All her people sigh and seeke their bread: they haue giuen their pleasant thinges for meate to refresh the soule: see, O Lord, and consider: for I am become vile.
11 Seu povo geme, à procura de pão; trocaram seus tesouros por alimento para sobreviver. “Olha, S “e vê como sou desprezada!
12 Haue ye no regarde, all yee that passe by this way? behold, and see, if there be any sorowe like vnto my sorowe, which is done vnto mee, wherewith the Lord hath afflicted me in the day of his fierce wrath.
12 “Isso tudo nada significa para vocês que passam por mim? Olhem ao redor e vejam se há dor igual à minha, que o S quando se acendeu sua ira.
13 From aboue hath hee sent fire into my bones, which preuaile against them: he hath spred a net for my feete, and turned me backe: hee hath made me desolate, and daily in heauinesse.
13 “Do céu enviou fogo que me queima os ossos; pôs uma armadilha em meu caminho e me fez voltar atrás. Deixou-me devastada, atormentada o dia todo por uma doença.
14 The yoke of my transgressions is bounde vpon his hand: they are wrapped, and come vp vpon my necke: hee hath made my strength to fall: the Lord hath deliuered me into their hands, neither am I able to rise vp.
14 “Trançou meus pecados como uma corda para me prender ao jugo do exílio. O Senhor me tirou a força e me entregou a meus inimigos; estou indefesa nas mãos deles.
15 The Lord hath troden vnder foote all my valiant men in the middes of me: he hath called an assembly against me to destroy my yong men: the Lord hath troden the wine presse vpon the virgine the daughter of Iudah.
15 “O Senhor tratou meus homens valentes com desprezo. Por ordem sua, um grande exército veio para esmagar meus jovens guerreiros. O Senhor pisou a amada cidade de Jerusalém como se pisam uvas no tanque de prensar.
16 For these things I weepe: mine eye, euen mine eye casteth out water, because the comforter that should refresh my soule, is farre from me: my children are desolate, because the enemie preuailed.
16 “Choro por todas essas coisas, lágrimas correm por meu rosto. Não resta ninguém para me consolar, estão longe os que poderiam me animar. Meus filhos não têm futuro, pois o inimigo nos conquistou.”
17 Zion stretcheth out her handes, and there is none to comfort her: the Lord hath appoynted the enemies of Iaakob rounde about him: Ierusalem is as a menstruous woman in the middes of them.
17 Sião estende as mãos, mas ninguém a consola. O S a respeito de seu povo, Israel: “Que seus vizinhos sejam seus inimigos! Que Jerusalém seja jogada fora como trapo imundo!”.
18 The Lord is righteous: for I haue rebelled against his commandement: heare, I pray you, all people, and behold my sorowe: my virgins and my yong men are gone into captiuitie.
18 “O S enhor é justo”, diz Jerusalém, “pois me rebelei contra ele. Ouçam todos os povos e vejam minha angústia, pois meus filhos e filhas foram levados para o exílio.
19 I called for my louers, but they deceiued me: my Priestes and mine Elders perished in the citie while they sought their meate to refresh their soules.
19 “Pedi ajuda a meus aliados, mas eles me traíram. Meus sacerdotes e meus líderes morreram de fome na cidade, enquanto procuravam alimento para sobreviver.
20 Behold, O Lord, howe I am troubled: my bowels swell: mine heart is turned within me, for I am ful of heauinesse: the sword spoyleth abroad, as death doeth at home.
20 “S enhor , vê minha angústia! Meu coração está aflito, e minha alma, desesperada, pois me rebelei terrivelmente contra ti. Nas ruas, a espada mata, e, em casa, só há morte.
21 They haue heard that I mourne, but there is none to comfort mee: all mine enemies haue heard of my trouble, and are glad, that thou hast done it: thou wilt bring the day, that thou hast pronounced, and they shalbe like vnto me.
21 “Outros ouviram meus gemidos, mas ninguém veio me consolar. Quando meus inimigos souberam de minha desgraça, se alegraram de ver o que tu havias feito. Ah, traze o dia que prometeste, em que eles sofrerão como eu sofri!
22 Let all their wickednes come before thee: do vnto them, as thou hast done vnto me, for all my transgressions: for my sighes are many, and mine heart is heauy.
22 “Vê todas as maldades deles, S enhor , e castiga-os como me castigaste, por todos os meus pecados. Meus gemidos são muitos, e meu coração está enfermo.”
