1 Nowe Samson went downe to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistims,
1 E desceu Sansão a Timnate; e, vendo em Timnate uma mulher das filhas dos filisteus,
2 And he came vp and told his father and his mother and saide, I haue seene a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistims: now therfore giue me her to wife.
2 Subiu, e declarou-o a seu pai e a sua mãe, e disse: Vi uma mulher em Timnate, das filhas dos filisteus; agora, pois, tomai-ma por mulher.
3 Then his father and his mother sayde vnto him, Is there neuer a wife among the daughters of thy brethren, and among all my people, that thou must go to take a wife of the vncircumcised Philistims? And Samson sayd vnto his father, Giue mee her, for she pleaseth me well.
3 Porém seu pai e sua mãe lhe disseram: Não há, porventura, mulher entre as filhas de teus irmãos, nem entre todo o meu povo, para que tu vás tomar mulher dos filisteus, daqueles incircuncisos? E disse Sansão a seu pai: Toma-me esta, porque ela agrada aos meus olhos.
4 But his father and his mother knewe not that it came of the Lord, that he should seeke an occasion against the Philistims: for at that time the Philistims reigned ouer Israel.
4 Mas seu pai e sua mãe não sabiam que isto vinha do Senhor; pois buscava ocasião contra os filisteus; porquanto naquele tempo os filisteus dominavam sobre Israel.
5 Then went Samson and his father and his mother downe to Timnath, and came to ye vineyardes at Timnath: and beholde, a young Lyon roared vpon him.
5 Desceu, pois, Sansão com seu pai e com sua mãe a Timnate; e, chegando às vinhas de Timnate eis que um filho de leão, rugindo, lhe saiu ao encontro.
6 And the Spirit of the Lord came vpon him, and he tare him, as one should haue rent a kid, and had nothing in his hand, neither told he his father nor his mother what he had done.
6 Então o Espírito do Senhor se apossou dele tão poderosamente que despedaçou o leão, como quem despedaça um cabrito, sem ter nada na sua mão; porém nem a seu pai nem a sua mãe deu a saber o que tinha feito.
7 And he went down, and talked with the woman which was beautifull in the eyes of Samson.
7 E desceu, e falou àquela mulher, e ela agradou aos olhos de Sansão.
8 And within a fewe dayes, when he returned to receiue her, he went aside to see the karkeis of the Lion: and behold, there was a swarme of bees, and hony in the body of the Lyon.
8 E depois de alguns dias voltou ele para tomá-la; e, apartando-se do caminho para ver o corpo do leão morto, eis que nele havia um enxame de abelhas com mel.
9 And he tooke therof in his handes, and went eating, and came to his father and to his mother, and gaue vnto them, and they did eate: but hee told not them, that he had taken the hony out of the body of the lyon.
9 E tomou-o nas suas mãos, e foi andando e comendo dele; e foi a seu pai e a sua mãe, e deu-lhes do mel, e comeram; porém não lhes deu a saber que tomara o mel do corpo do leão.
10 So his father went down vnto the woman, and Samson made there a feast: for so vsed the yong men to doe.
10 Descendo, pois, seu pai àquela mulher, fez Sansão ali um banquete; porque assim os moços costumavam fazer.
11 And when they sawe him, they brought thirtie companions to be with him.
11 E sucedeu que, como o vissem, trouxeram trinta companheiros para estarem com ele.
12 Then Samson sayd vnto them, I will nowe put forth a riddle vnto you: and if you can declare it me within seuen dayes of the feast, and finde it out, I will giue you thirty sheetes, and thirtie change of garments.
12 Disse-lhes, pois, Sansão: Eu vos darei um enigma para decifrar; e, se nos sete dias das bodas o decifrardes e descobrirdes, eu vos darei trinta lençóis e trinta mudas de roupas.
13 But if you cannot declare it mee, then shall yee giue mee thirty sheetes and thirtie change of garments. And they answered him, Put forth thy riddle, that we may heare it.
13 E, se não puderdes decifrar, vós me dareis a mim trinta lençóis e as trinta mudas de roupas. E eles lhe disseram: Dá-nos o teu enigma a decifrar, para que o ouçamos.
14 And he sayd vnto them, Out of the eater came meate, and out of the strong came sweetenesse: and they could not in three dayes expound the riddle.
14 Então lhes disse: Do comedor saiu comida, e do forte saiu doçura. E em três dias não puderam decifrar o enigma.
15 And when the seuenth day was come, they said vnto Samsons wife, Entise thine husband, that he may declare vs the riddle, lest wee burne thee and thy fathers house with fire. Haue ye called vs, to possesse vs? is it not so?
15 E sucedeu que, ao sétimo dia, disseram à mulher de Sansão: Persuade a teu marido que nos declare o enigma, para que porventura não queimemos a fogo a ti e à casa de teu pai; chamastes-nos aqui para vos apossardes do que é nosso, não é assim?
16 And Samsons wife wept before him, and said, Surely thou hatest mee and louest mee not: for thou hast put forth a riddle vnto the children of my people, and hast not told it mee. And hee sayd vnto her, Beholde, I haue not told it my father, nor my mother, and shall I tell it thee?
16 E a mulher de Sansão chorou diante dele, e disse: Tão-somente me desprezas, e não me amas; pois deste aos filhos do meu povo um enigma para decifrar, e ainda não o declaraste a mim. E ele lhe disse: Eis que nem a meu pai nem a minha mãe o declarei, e to declararia a ti?
17 Then Samsons wife wept before him seuen dayes, while their feast lasted: and when the seuenth day came he tolde her, because she was importunate vpon him: so she told the riddle to the children of her people.
17 E chorou diante dele os sete dias em que celebravam as bodas; sucedeu, pois, que ao sétimo dia lho declarou, porquanto o importunava; então ela declarou o enigma aos filhos do seu povo.
18 And the men of ye citie sayde vnto him the seuenth day before the Sunne went downe, What is sweeter then honie? and what is stronger then a lyon? Then sayd hee vnto them, If yee had not plowed with my heiffer, yee had not found out my riddle.
18 Disseram, pois, a Sansão os homens daquela cidade, ao sétimo dia, antes de se pôr o sol: Que coisa há mais doce do que o mel? E que coisa há mais forte do que o leão? E ele lhes disse: Se vós não lavrásseis com a minha novilha, nunca teríeis descoberto o meu enigma.
19 And the Spirite of the Lord came vpon him, and he went downe to Ashkelon, and slew thirtie men of them and spoyled them, and gaue chaunge of garments vnto them, which expounded the riddle: and his wrath was kindled, and he went vp to his fathers house.
19 Então o Espírito do Senhor tão poderosamente se apossou dele, que desceu aos ascalonitas, e matou deles trinta homens, e tomou as suas roupas, e deu as mudas de roupas aos que declararam o enigma; porém acendeu-se a sua ira, e subiu à casa de seu pai.
20 Then Samsons wife was giuen to his companion, whom he had vsed as his friend.
20 E a mulher de Sansão foi dada ao seu companheiro que antes o acompanhava.
