1 And in the fourth yeere of Iehoiakim the sonne of Iosiah King of Iudah, came this word vnto Ieremiah from the Lord, saying,
1 Sucedeu, pois, no ano quarto de Jeoaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, que veio esta palavra do Senhor a Jeremias, dizendo:
2 Take thee a roule or booke, and write therein all the wordes that I haue spoken to thee against Israel, and against Iudah, and against all the nations, from the day that I spake vnto thee, euen from the dayes of Iosiah vnto this day.
2 Toma o rolo de um livro e escreve nele todas as palavras que te tenho falado sobre Israel, e sobre Judá, e sobre todas as nações, desde o dia em que eu te falei a ti, desde os dias de Josias até hoje.
3 It may bee that the House of Iudah will heare of all the euill, which I determined to doe vnto them that they may returne euery man from his euil way, that I may forgiue their iniquitie and their sinnes.
3 Ouvirão, talvez, os da casa de Judá todo o mal que eu intento fazer-lhes, para que cada qual se converta do seu mau caminho, e eu perdoe a sua maldade e o seu pecado.
4 Then Ieremiah called Baruch the sonne of Neriah, and Baruch wrote at the mouth of Ieremiah all the wordes of the Lord, which hee had spoken vnto him, vpon a roule or booke.
4 Então, Jeremias chamou a Baruque, filho de Nerias; e escreveu Baruque da boca de Jeremias todas as palavras do Senhor , que ele lhe tinha revelado, no rolo de um livro.
5 And Ieremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am shut vp, and can not go into the House of the Lord.
5 E Jeremias deu ordem a Baruque, dizendo: Eu estou encerrado e não posso entrar na Casa do Senhor .
6 Therefore goe thou, and reade the roule wherein thou hast written at my mouth the words of the Lord in the audience of the people in the Lordes House vpon the fasting day: also thou shalt reade them in the hearing of all Iudah, that come out of their cities.
6 Entra, pois, tu e lê pelo rolo que escreveste da minha boca as palavras do Senhor aos ouvidos do povo, na Casa do Senhor , no dia de jejum; e também aos ouvidos de todo o Judá vindo das suas cidades as lerás.
7 It may be that they will pray before the Lord, and euery one returne from his euill way, for great is the anger and the wrath, that the Lord hath declared against this people.
7 Pode ser que caia a sua súplica diante do Senhor , e se converta cada um do seu mau caminho, porque grande é a ira e o furor que o Senhor tem manifestado contra este povo.
8 So Baruch the sonne of Neriah did according vnto all, that Ieremiah the Prophet commanded him, reading in the booke the wordes of the Lord in the Lords House.
8 E fez Baruque, filho de Nerias, conforme tudo quanto lhe havia ordenado Jeremias, o profeta, lendo naquele livro as palavras do Senhor na Casa do Senhor .
9 And in the fift yeere of Iehoiakim the sonne of Iosiah King of Iudah, in the ninth moneth, they proclaimed a fast before the Lord to all the people in Ierusalem, and to all the people that came from the cities of Iudah vnto Ierusalem.
9 E aconteceu, no ano quinto de Jeoaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, no mês nono, que apregoaram jejum diante do Senhor a todo o povo em Jerusalém, como também a todo o povo que vinha das cidades de Judá a Jerusalém.
10 Then read Baruch in the booke the wordes of Ieremiah in the house of the Lord, in the chamber of Gemariah the sonne of Shaphan the secretarie, in the hier court at the entrie of the new gate of the Lordes house, in the hearing of all the people.
10 Leu, pois, Baruque naquele livro as palavras de Jeremias na Casa do Senhor , na câmara de Gemarias, filho de Safã, o escriba, no átrio superior, à entrada da Porta Nova da Casa do Senhor , aos ouvidos de todo o povo.
11 When Michaiah the sonne of Gemariah, the sonne of Shaphan had heard out of the booke all the wordes of the Lord,
11 E, ouvindo Miqueias, filho de Gemarias, filho de Safã, todas as palavras do Senhor , naquele livro,
12 Then hee went downe to the Kings house into the Chancellours chamber, and loe, all the princes sate there, euen Elishama the Chancellour, and Delaiah the sonne of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the sonne of Achbor, and Gemariah the sonne of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the sonne of Hananiah, and all the princes.
12 desceu à casa do rei, à câmara do escriba. E eis que todos os príncipes estavam ali assentados: Elisama, o escriba; e Delaías, filho de Semaías; e Elnatã, filho de Acbor; e Gemarias, filho de Safã; e Zedequias, filho de Hananias; e todos os outros príncipes.
13 Then Michaiah declared vnto them all the wordes that he had heard when Baruch read in the booke in the audience of the people.
13 E Miqueias anunciou-lhes todas as palavras que ouvira, lendo- as Baruque, pelo livro, aos ouvidos do povo.
14 Therefore all the princes sent Iehudi the sonne of Nethaniah, the sonne of Shelemiah, the sonne of Chushi, vnto Baruch, saying, Take in thine hande the roule, wherein thou hast read in the audience of the people, and come. So Baruch the sonne of Neriah, tooke the roule in his hand, and came vnto them.
14 Então, todos os príncipes mandaram Jeudi, filho de Netanias, filho de Selemias, filho de Cusi, dizer a Baruque: O rolo que leste aos ouvidos do povo, toma-o nas tuas mãos, e vem. E Baruque, filho de Nerias, tomou o rolo nas suas mãos, e veio a eles.
15 And they saide vnto him, Sit downe now, and reade it, that we may heare. So Baruch read it in their audience.
15 E disseram-lhe: Assenta-te, agora, e lê-o aos nossos ouvidos. E leu Baruque aos ouvidos deles.
16 Now when they had heard all the wordes, they were afraid both one and other, and said vnto Baruch, We will certifie the King of all these wordes.
16 E sucedeu que, ouvindo eles todas aquelas palavras, se voltaram temerosos uns para os outros e disseram a Baruque: Sem dúvida nenhuma, anunciaremos ao rei todas estas palavras.
17 And they examined Baruch, saying, Tell vs nowe, howe diddest thou write all these wordes at his mouth?
17 E perguntaram a Baruque, dizendo: Declara-nos, agora, como escreveste da sua boca todas estas palavras.
18 Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these wordes vnto me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ynke in the booke.
18 E disse-lhes Baruque: Com a sua boca, ditava-me todas estas palavras, e eu as escrevia, no livro, com tinta.
19 Then saide the princes vnto Baruch, Goe, hide thee, thou and Ieremiah, and let no man knowe where ye be.
19 Então, disseram os príncipes a Baruque: Vai e esconde-te, tu e Jeremias, e ninguém saiba onde estais.
20 And they went in to the King to the court, but they layde vp the roule in the chamber of Elishama the Chancellour and tolde the King all the wordes, that he might heare.
20 E foram ter com o rei ao átrio; mas depositaram o rolo na câmara de Elisama, o escriba, e anunciaram aos ouvidos do rei todas aquelas palavras.
21 So the King sent Iehudi to fet the roule, and he tooke it out of Elishama the Chancellours chamber, and Iehudi read it in the audience of the King, and in the audience of all the princes, which stoode beside the King.
21 Então, enviou o rei a Jeudi, para que trouxesse o rolo; e Jeudi tomou-o da câmara de Elisama, o escriba, e leu-o aos ouvidos do rei e aos ouvidos de todos os príncipes que estavam em torno do rei.
22 Nowe the King sate in the winter House, in the ninth moneth, and there was a fire burning before him.
22 (Estava, então, o rei assentado na casa de inverno, pelo nono mês; e estava diante dele um braseiro aceso.)
23 And when Iehudi had read three, or foure sides, hee cut it with the penknife and cast it into the fire, that was on the hearth vntil all the roule was consumed in the fire, that was on the hearth.
23 E sucedeu que, tendo Jeudi lido três ou quatro folhas, cortou-o o rei com um canivete de escrivão e lançou-o ao fogo que havia no braseiro, até que todo o rolo se consumiu no fogo que estava sobre o braseiro.
24 Yet they were not afraide, nor rent their garmets, neither the King, nor any of his seruants, that heard all these wordes.
24 E não temeram, nem rasgaram as suas vestes o rei e todos os seus servos que ouviram todas aquelas palavras.
25 Neuerthelesse, Elnathan, and Delaiah, and Gemariah had besought the King, that he would not burne ye roule: but he would not heare them.
25 Posto que Elnatã, e Delaías, e Gemarias tivessem pedido ao rei que não queimasse o rolo, ele não lhes deu ouvidos;
26 But the King commanded Ierahmeel the sonne of Hammelech, and Seraiah the sonne of Azriel, and Shelemiah the sonne of Abdiel, to take Baruch the scribe, and Ieremiah the Prophet, but the Lord hid them.
26 antes, deu ordem o rei a Jerameel, filho de Hameleque, e a Seraías, filho de Azriel, e a Selemias, filho de Abdeel, que prendessem Baruque, o escrivão, e Jeremias, o profeta. Mas o Senhor tinha-os escondido.
27 Then the word of the Lord came to Ieremiah (after that the King had burnt the roule and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Ieremiah) saying,
27 Então, veio a Jeremias a palavra do Senhor , depois que o rei queimara o rolo, com as palavras que Baruque escrevera da boca de Jeremias, dizendo:
28 Take thee againe another roule and write in it all ye former words that were in the first roule which Iehoiakim the King of Iudah hath burnt,
28 Toma ainda outro rolo e escreve nele todas as palavras que estavam no primeiro volume, o qual Jeoaquim, rei de Judá, queimou.
29 And thou shalt say to Iehoiakim King of Iudah, Thus saith the Lord, Thou hast burnt this roule, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying, that the King of Babel shall certainly come and destroye this land, and shall take thence both man and beast?
29 E a Jeoaquim, rei de Judá, dirás: Assim diz o Senhor : Tu queimaste este rolo, dizendo: Por que escreveste nele anunciando: Certamente, virá o rei da Babilônia, e destruirá esta terra, e fará cessar nela homens e animais?
30 Therefore thus saith the Lord of Iehoiakim King of Iudah, Hee shall haue none to sit vpon the throne of Dauid, and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heate, and in the night to the frost.
30 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor acerca de Jeoaquim, rei de Judá: Não terá quem se assente sobre o trono de Davi, e será lançado o seu cadáver ao calor de dia e à geada de noite.
31 And I will visite him and his seede, and his seruants for their iniquitie, and I will bring vpon them, and vpon the inhabitants of Ierusalem, and vpon the men of Iudah all the euil that I haue pronounced against them: but they would not heare.
31 E visitarei sobre ele, e sobre a sua semente, e sobre os seus servos a sua iniquidade; e trarei sobre ele, e sobre os moradores de Jerusalém, e sobre os homens de Judá todo aquele mal que lhes tenho falado sem que me ouvissem.
32 Then tooke Ieremiah another roule, and gaue it Baruch the scribe the sonne of Neriah, which wrote therein at the mouth of Ieremiah all the wordes of the booke which Iehoiakim King of Iudah had burnt in the fire, and there were added besides them many like wordes.
32 Tomou, pois, Jeremias outro rolo e o deu a Baruque, filho de Nerias, o escrivão, o qual escreveu nele, da boca de Jeremias, todas as palavras do livro que Jeoaquim, rei de Judá, tinha queimado; e ainda se acrescentaram a elas muitas palavras semelhantes.
