1 The worde of the Lord that came to Ioel the sonne of Pethuel.
1 A palavra do Senhor que veio a Joel, filho de Petuel.
2 Heare ye this, O Elders, and hearken ye all inhabitantes of the land, whether such a thing hath bene in your dayes, or yet in the dayes of your fathers.
2 Ouçam isto, anciãos; escutem, todos os habitantes do país. Já aconteceu algo assim nos seus dias? Ou nos dias dos seus antepassados?
3 Tell you your children of it, and let your children shew to their children, and their children to another generation.
3 Contem o que aconteceu aos seus filhos, e eles aos seus netos, e os seus netos, à geração seguinte.
4 That which is left of ye palmer worme, hath the grashopper eaten, and the residue of ye grashopper hath the canker worme eaten, and the residue of the canker worme hath the caterpiller eaten.
4 O que o gafanhoto cortador deixou o gafanhoto peregrino comeu; o que o gafanhoto peregrino deixou o gafanhoto devastador comeu; o que o gafanhoto devastador deixou o gafanhoto devorador comeu.
5 Awake ye drunkards, and weepe, and howle all ye drinkers of wine, because of the newe wine: for it shalbe pulled from your mouth.
5 Acordem, bêbados, e chorem! Lamentem todos vocês, bebedores de vinho; gritem por causa do vinho novo, pois ele foi tirado dos seus lábios.
6 Yea, a nation commeth vpon my lande, mightie, and without nomber, whose teeth are like the teeth of a lyon, and he hath the iawes of a great lyon.
6 Uma nação invadiu a minha terra, poderosa e inumerável; seus dentes são dentes de leão, suas presas são de leoa.
7 He maketh my vine waste, and pilleth off the barke of my figge tree: he maketh it bare, and casteth it downe: ye branches therof are made white.
7 Arrasou as minhas videiras e arruinou as minhas figueiras. Arrancou-lhes a casca, e derrubou-as, deixando brancos os seus galhos.
8 Mourne like a virgine girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.
8 Pranteiem como uma virgem em vestes de luto que lamenta pelo noivo da sua mocidade.
9 The meate offring, and the drinke offring is cut off from the House of the Lord: the Priests the Lords ministers mourne.
9 As ofertas de cereal e as ofertas derramadas foram eliminadas do templo do Senhor. Os sacerdotes, que ministram diante do Senhor, estão de luto.
10 The fielde is wasted: the lande mourneth: for the corne is destroyed: the new wine is dried vp, and the oyle is decayed.
10 Os campos estão arruinados, a terra está seca; o trigo está destruído, o vinho novo acabou, o azeite está em falta.
11 Be ye ashamed, O husband men: howle, O ye vine dressers for the wheate, and for the barly, because the haruest of the fielde is perished.
11 Desesperem-se, agricultores, chorem, produtores de vinho; fiquem aflitos pelo trigo e pela cevada, porque a colheita foi destruída.
12 The vine is dried vp, and the figge tree is decayed: the pomegranate tree and the palme tree, and the apple tree, euen all the trees of the fielde are withered: surely the ioy is withered away from the sonnes of men.
12 A vinha está seca, e a figueira murchou; a romãzeira, a palmeira e a macieira, todas as árvores do campo secaram. Secou-se, mais ainda, a alegria dos homens.
13 Girde your selues and lament, ye Priests: howle ye ministers of the altar: come, and lie all night in sackecloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meate offring, and the drinke offring is taken away from the house of your God.
13 Ponham vestes de luto, ó sacerdotes, e pranteiem; chorem alto, vocês que ministram perante o altar. Venham, passem a noite vestidos de luto, vocês que ministram perante o meu Deus; pois as ofertas de cereal e as ofertas derramadas foram suprimidas do templo do seu Deus.
14 Sanctifie you a fast: call a solemne assemblie: gather the Elders, and all the inhabitants of the land into the House of the Lord your God, and cry vnto the Lord,
14 Decretem um jejum santo; convoquem uma assembléia sagrada. Reúnam as autoridades e todos os habitantes do país no templo do Senhor, do seu Deus, e clamem ao Senhor.
15 Alas: for the day, for the day of the Lord is at hand, and it commeth as a destruction from the Almightie.
15 Ah! Aquele dia! Sim, o dia do Senhor está próximo; como destruição poderosa da parte do Todo-poderoso, ele virá.
16 Is not the meate cut off before our eyes? and ioy, and gladnesse from the house of our God?
16 Não é verdade que a comida foi eliminada diante dos nossos próprios olhos, e que a alegria e a satisfação foram suprimidas, do templo do nosso Deus?
17 The seede is rotten vnder their cloddes: the garners are destroyed: the barnes are broken downe, for the corne is withered.
17 As sementes estão murchas debaixo dos torrões de terra. Os celeiros estão em ruínas, os depósitos de cereal foram derrubados, pois a colheita se perdeu.
18 How did the beasts mourne! the herdes of cattel pine away, because they haue no pasture, and the flockes of sheepe are destroyed.
18 Como está mugindo o gado! As manadas andam agitadas porque não têm pasto; até os rebanhos de ovelhas estão sendo castigados.
19 O Lord, to thee will I crie: for the fire hath deuoured the pastures of the wildernesse, and the flame hath burnt vp all the trees of the fielde.
19 A ti, Senhor, eu clamo, pois o fogo devorou as pastagens e as chamas consumiram todas as árvores do campo.
20 The beasts of the fielde cry also vnto thee: for the riuers of waters are dried vp, and the fire hath deuoured the pastures of the wildernes.
20 Até os animais do campo clamam a ti, pois os canais de água se secaram e o fogo devorou as pastagens.
