1 Yet the darkenesse shall not be according to the affliction that it had when at the first hee touched lightly the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, nor afteward when he was more grieuous by the way of the sea beyond Iorden in Galile of the Gentiles.
1 Mas a terra, que foi angustiada, não será entenebrecida; envileceu nos primeiros tempos, a terra de Zebulom, e a terra de Naftali; mas nos últimos tempos a enobreceu junto ao caminho do mar, além do Jordão, na Galiléia das nações.
2 The people that walked in darkenes haue seene a great light: they that dwelled in the land of the shadowe of death, vpon them hath the light shined.
2 O povo que andava em trevas, viu uma grande luz, e sobre os que habitavam na região da sombra da morte resplandeceu a luz.
3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased their ioye: they haue reioyced before thee according to the ioye in haruest, and as men reioyce when they deuide a spoyle.
3 Tu multiplicaste a nação, a alegria lhe aumentaste; todos se alegrarão perante ti, como se alegram na ceifa, e como exultam quando se repartem os despojos.
4 For the yoke of their burthen, and the staffe of their shoulder and the rod of their oppressour hast thou broken as in the day of Midian.
4 Porque tu quebraste o jugo da sua carga, e o bordão do seu ombro, e a vara do seu opressor, como no dia dos midianitas.
5 Surely euery battell of the warriour is with noyse, and with tumbling of garments in blood: but this shall be with burning and deuouring of fire.
5 Porque todo calçado que levava o guerreiro no tumulto da batalha, e todo o manto revolvido em sangue, serão queimados, servindo de combustível ao fogo.
6 For vnto vs a childe is borne, and vnto vs a Sonne is giuen: and the gouernement is vpon his shoulder, and he shall call his name Wonderfull, Counseller, The mightie God, The euerlasting Father, The prince of peace,
6 Porque um menino nos nasceu, um filho se nos deu, e o principado está sobre os seus ombros, e se chamará o seu nome: Maravilhoso, Conselheiro, Deus Forte, Pai da Eternidade, Príncipe da Paz.
7 The increase of his gouernement and peace shall haue none end: he shall sit vpon the throne of Dauid, and vpon his kingdome, to order it, and to stablish it with iudgement and with iustice, from hencefoorth, euen for euer: the zeale of the Lord of hostes will performe this.
7 Do aumento deste principado e da paz não haverá fim, sobre o trono de Davi e no seu reino, para o firmar e o fortificar com juízo e com justiça, desde agora e para sempre; o zelo do Senhor dos Exércitos fará isto.
8 The Lord hath sent a worde into Iaakob, and it hath lighted vpon Israel.
8 O Senhor enviou uma palavra a Jacó, e ela caiu em Israel.
9 And all the people shall knowe, euen Ephraim, and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and presumption of the heart,
9 E todo este povo o saberá, Efraim e os moradores de Samaria, que em soberba e altivez de coração, dizem:
10 The brickes are fallen, but we will build it with hewen stones: the wilde figge trees are cut downe, but we will change them into ceders.
10 Os tijolos caíram, mas com cantaria tornaremos a edificar; cortaram-se os sicômoros, mas em cedros as mudaremos.
11 Neuerthelesse the Lord will raise vp the aduersaries of Rezin against him, and ioyne his enemies together.
11 Portanto o Senhor suscitará, contra ele, os adversários de Rezim, e juntará os seus inimigos.
12 Aram before and the Philistims behinde, and they shall deuoure Israel with open mouth: yet for all this his wrath is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
12 Pela frente virão os sírios, e por detrás os filisteus, e devorarão a Israel à boca escancarada; e nem com tudo isto cessou a sua ira, mas ainda está estendida a sua mão.
13 For the people turneth not vnto him that smiteth them, neither doe they seeke the Lord of hostes.
13 Todavia este povo não se voltou para quem o feria, nem buscou ao Senhor dos Exércitos.
14 Therefore will the Lord cut off from Israel head and taile, branche and rush in one day.
14 Assim o Senhor cortará de Israel a cabeça e a cauda, o ramo e o junco, num mesmo dia
15 The ancient and the honorable man, he is the head: and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the taile.
15 (O ancião e o homem de respeito é a cabeça; e o profeta que ensina a falsidade é a cauda).
16 For the leaders of the people cause them to erre: and they that are led by them are deuoured.
16 Porque os guias deste povo são enganadores, e os que por eles são guiados são destruídos.
17 Therefore shall the Lord haue no pleasure in their yong men, neither will he haue compassion of their fatherlesse and of their widowes: for euery one is an hypocrite and wicked, and euery mouth speaketh follie: yet for all this his wrath is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out stil.
17 Por isso o Senhor não se regozija nos seus jovens, e não se compadecerá dos seus órfãos e das suas viúvas, porque todos eles são hipócritas e malfazejos, e toda a boca profere doidices; e nem com tudo isto cessou a sua ira, mas ainda está estendida a sua mão.
18 For wickednesse burneth as a fire: it deuoureth the briers and the thornes and will kindle in the thicke places of the forest: and they shall mount vp like the lifting vp of smoke.
18 Porque a impiedade lavra como um fogo, ela devora as sarças e os espinheiros; e ela se ateará no emaranhado da floresta; e subirão em espessas nuvens de fumaça.
19 By the wrath of the Lord of hostes shall the land be darkened, and the people shall be as the meate of ye fire: no man shall spare his brother.
19 Por causa da ira do Senhor dos Exércitos a terra se escurecerá, e será o povo como combustível para o fogo; ninguém poupará ao seu irmão.
20 And he shall snatch at the right hand, and be hungrie: and he shall eate on the left hand, and shall not be satisfied: euery one shall eate ye flesh of his owne arme.
20 Se colher à direita, ainda terá fome, e se comer à esquerda, ainda não se fartará; cada um comerá a carne de seu braço.
21 Manasseh, Ephraim: and Ephraim Manasseh, and they both shall be against Iudah yet for all this his wrath is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
21 Manassés a Efraim, e Efraim a Manassés, e ambos serão contra Judá. Com tudo isto não cessou a sua ira, mas ainda está estendida a sua mão.
