1 Moreover, the Lord sayd vnto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a mans penne, Make speede to the spoyle: haste to the praye.
1 O Senhor me disse: "Tome uma placa de bom tamanho e nela escreva de forma legível: Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz.
2 Then I tooke vnto me faithfull witnesses to recorde, Vriah the Priest, and Zechariah the sonne of Ieberechiah.
2 E chame o sacerdote Urias, e Zacarias, filho de Jeberequias, como testemunhas de confiança".
3 After, I came vnto the Prophetesse, which conceiued, and bare a sonne. Then sayd the Lord to me, Call his name, Mahershalalhash-baz.
3 Então deitei-me com a profetisa, minha mulher, e ela engravidou e deu à luz um filho. E o Senhor me disse: "Dê-lhe o nome de Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz.
4 For before the childe shall haue knowledge to crye, My father, and my mother, he shall take away the riches of Damascus and the spoyle of Samaria, before the King of Asshur.
4 Pois antes que o menino saiba dizer ‘papai’ ou ‘mamãe’, a riqueza de Damasco e os bens de Samaria serão levados pelo rei da Assíria".
5 And the Lord spake yet againe vnto me, saying,
5 O Senhor tornou a falar-me:
6 Because this people hath refused the waters of Shiloah that runne softly, and reioyce with Rezin, and the sonne of Remaliah,
6 "Já que este povo rejeitou as águas de Siloé, que fluem mansamente, e alegrou-se com Rezim e com o filho de Remalias,
7 Nowe therefore, beholde, the Lord bringeth vp vpon them the waters of the Riuer mightie and great, euen the King of Asshur with all his glory, and he shall come vp vpon all their riuers, and goe ouer all their banks,
7 o Senhor está trazendo contra eles as poderosas e devastadoras águas do Eufrates, o rei da Assíria com todo o seu poderio. Elas transbordarão em todos os seus canais, encobrirão todas as suas margens
8 And shall breake into Iudah, and shall ouerflowe and passe through, and shall come vp to the necke, and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanu-el.
8 e inundarão Judá cobrindo tudo até o pescoço. Seus braços abertos se espalharão por toda a tua terra, ó Emanuel! "
9 Gather together on heapes, O ye people, and ye shalbe broken in pieces, and hearken all ye of farre countreys: gird your selues, and you shalbe broken in pieces: gird your selues, and you shalbe broken in pieces.
9 Continuem a fazer o mal, ó nações, e vocês serão destruídas! Escutem, terras distantes: Ainda que vocês se preparem para o combate, serão destruídas! Sim, mesmo que se preparem para o combate, vocês serão destruídas!
10 Take counsell together, yet it shall be brought to nought: pronounce a decree, yet shall it not stand: for God is with vs.
10 Mesmo que vocês criem estratégias, elas serão frustradas; mesmo que façam planos, não terão sucesso, pois Deus está conosco!
11 For the Lord spake thus to me in taking of mine hand, and taught me, that I should not walke in the way of this people, saying,
11 O Senhor falou comigo com veemência, advertindo-me a não seguir o caminho desse povo. Ele disse:
12 Say ye not, A confederacie to all them, to whome this people sayth a confederacie, neither feare you their feare, nor be afrayd of them.
12 "Não chamem conspiração tudo o que esse povo chama conspiração; não temam aquilo que eles temem, nem se apavorem.
13 Sanctifie the Lord of hostes, and let him be your feare, and let him be your dread,
13 Ao Senhor dos Exércitos é que vocês devem considerar santo, a ele é que vocês devem temer, dele é que vocês devem ter pavor.
14 And he shalbe as a Sanctuarie: but as a stumbling stone, and as a rocke to fall vpon, to both the houses of Israel, and as a snare and as a net to the inhabitants of Ierusalem.
14 Para os dois reinos de Israel ele será um santuário, mas também uma pedra de tropeço, uma rocha que faz cair. E para os habitantes de Jerusalém ele será uma armadilha e um laço.
15 And many among them shall stumble, and shall fall and shalbe broken and shalbe snared and shalbe taken.
15 Muitos deles tropeçarão, cairão e serão despedaçados, presos no laço e capturados".
16 Binde vp the testimonie: seale vp the Law among my disciples.
16 Guarde o mandamento com cuidado e sele a lei entre os meus discípulos.
17 Therefore I will waite vpon the Lord that hath hid his face from the house of Iaakob, and I wil looke for him.
17 Esperarei pelo Senhor, que está escondendo o seu rosto da descendência de Jacó. Nele porei a minha esperança.
18 Beholde, I and the children whome the Lord hath giuen me, are as signes and as wonders in Israel, by the Lord of hostes, which dwelleth in mount Zion.
18 Aqui estou eu com os filhos que o Senhor me deu. Em Israel somos sinais e símbolos da parte do Senhor dos Exércitos, que habita no monte Sião.
19 And when they shall say vnto you, Enquire at them that haue a spirit of diuination, and at the soothsayers, which whisper and murmure, Should not a people enquire at their God? from the liuing to the dead?
19 Quando disserem a vocês: "Consultem médiuns e espíritas que murmuram encantamentos, pois todos procuram seus deuses e os mortos em favor dos vivos".
20 To the Law, and to the testimonie, if they speake not according to this worde: it is because there is no light in them.
20 Respondam: "À lei e aos mandamentos! " Se eles não falarem conforme esta palavra, vocês jamais verão a luz!
21 Then he that is afflicted and famished, shall go to and from in it: and when he shalbe hungry, he shall euen freat himselfe, and curse his King and his gods, and shall looke vpward.
21 Aflitos e famintos vaguearão pela terra; quando estiverem famintos, ficarão irados e, olhando para cima, amaldiçoarão o seu rei e o seu Deus.
22 And when he shall looke to the earth, beholde trouble, and darkenes, vexation and anguish, and he is driuen to darkenes.
22 Depois olharão para a terra e só verão aflição, trevas e temível escuridão, e serão atirados em densas trevas.
