1 For euery hie Priest is taken from among men, and is ordeined for men, in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both giftes and sacrifices for sinnes,
1 Cada sumo sacerdote, sendo escolhido dentre os homens, é constituído nas coisas relacionadas com Deus, a favor dos homens, para oferecer dons e sacrifícios pelos pecados.
2 Which is able sufficiently to haue compassion on them that are ignorant, and that are out of the way, because that hee also is compassed with infirmitie,
2 Ele é capaz de se compadecer dos ignorantes e dos que se desviam do caminho, pois também ele mesmo está rodeado de fraquezas.
3 And for the sames sake he is bound to offer for sinnes, as well for his own part, as for ye peoples.
3 Por esta razão, deve oferecer sacrifícios pelos pecados, tanto do povo como de si mesmo.
4 And no man taketh this honor vnto him selfe, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
4 E ninguém toma esta honra para si mesmo, a não ser quando chamado por Deus, como aconteceu com Arão.
5 So likewise Christ tooke not to him selfe this honour, to be made the hie Priest, but hee that sayd vnto him, Thou art my Sonne, this day begate I thee, gaue it him.
5 Assim, também Cristo não glorificou a si mesmo para se tornar sumo sacerdote, mas quem o glorificou foi aquele que lhe disse: “Você é meu Filho, hoje eu gerei você.”
6 As he also in another place speaketh, Thou art a Priest for euer, after ye order of Melchi-sedec.
6 E em outro lugar também diz: “Você é sacerdote para sempre, segundo a ordem de Melquisedeque.”
7 Who in the dayes of his flesh did offer vp prayers and supplications, with strong crying and teares vnto him, that was able to saue him from death, and was also heard in that which he feared.
7 Ele, Jesus, nos dias da sua carne, tendo oferecido, com forte clamor e lágrimas, orações e súplicas a quem o podia livrar da morte, foi ouvido por causa da sua reverência.
8 And though he were ye Sonne, yet learned he obedience, by the things which he suffered.
8 Embora fosse Filho, aprendeu a obediência pelas coisas que sofreu
9 And being consecrate, was made the authour of eternall saluation vnto all them that obey him:
9 e, tendo sido aperfeiçoado, tornou-se o Autor da salvação eterna para todos os que lhe obedecem.
10 And is called of God an hie Priest after the order of Melchi-sedec.
10 E Deus o nomeou sumo sacerdote, segundo a ordem de Melquisedeque.
11 Of whome we haue many things to say, which are hard to be vttered, because ye are dull of hearing.
11 A esse respeito temos muitas coisas a dizer, coisas difíceis de explicar, porque vocês ficaram com preguiça de ouvir.
12 For when as concerning ye time ye ought to be teachers, yet haue ye neede againe that we teach you what are the first principles of the worde of God: and are become such as haue neede of milke, and not of strong meate.
12 Pois, quando já deviam ser mestres, levando em conta o tempo decorrido, vocês têm, novamente, necessidade de alguém que lhes ensine quais são os princípios elementares dos oráculos de Deus. Passaram a ter necessidade de leite e não de alimento sólido.
13 For euery one that vseth milke, is inexpert in the worde of righteousnes: for he is a babe.
13 Ora, todo aquele que se alimenta de leite é inexperiente na palavra da justiça, porque é criança.
14 But strong meate belongeth to them that are of age, which through long custome haue their wits exercised, to discerne both good and euill.
14 Mas o alimento sólido é para os adultos, para aqueles que, pela prática, têm as suas faculdades exercitadas para discernir não somente o bem, mas também o mal.
