1 Afterward he commanded his steward, saying, Fill the mens sackes with foode, as much as they can carry, and put euery mans money in his sackes mouth.
1 Depois José deu ordem ao despenseiro de sua casa, dizendo: Enche de mantimento os sacos dos homens, quanto puderem levar, e põe o dinheiro de cada um na boca do seu saco.
2 And put my cup, I meane the siluer cup, in the sackes mouth of the yongest, and his corne money. And he did according to the commandement that Ioseph gaue him.
2 E a minha taça de prata porás na boca do saco do mais novo, com o dinheiro do seu trigo. Assim fez ele conforme a palavra que José havia dito.
3 And in the morning the men were sent away, they, and their asses.
3 Logo que veio a luz da manhã, foram despedidos os homens, eles com os seus jumentos.
4 And when they went out of the citie not farre off, Ioseph sayd to his stewarde, Vp, follow after the men: and when thou doest ouertake them, say vnto them, Wherefore haue ye rewarded euill for good?
4 Havendo eles saído da cidade, mas não se tendo distanciado muito, disse José ao seu despenseiro: Levanta-te e segue os homens; e, alcançando-os, dize-lhes: Por que tornastes o mal pelo bem?
5 Is that not the cuppe, wherein my Lord drinketh? and in the which he doeth deuine and prophecie? ye haue done euill in so doing.
5 Não é esta a taça por que bebe meu senhor, e de que se serve para adivinhar? Fizestes mal no que fizestes.
6 And when he ouertooke them, he sayde those wordes vnto them.
6 Então ele, tendo-os alcançado, lhes falou essas mesmas palavras.
7 And they answered him, Wherefore sayeth my lorde such wordes? God forbid that thy seruants should do such a thing.
7 Responderam-lhe eles: Por que falo meu senhor tais palavras? Longe estejam teus servos de fazerem semelhante coisa.
8 Behold, the money which we found in our sackes mouthes, wee brought againe to thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steale out of thy lordes house siluer or golde?
8 Eis que o dinheiro, que achamos nas bocas dos nossos sacos, to tornamos a trazer desde a terra de Canaã; como, pois, furtaríamos da casa do teu senhor prata ou ouro?
9 With whomesoeuer of thy seruants it bee found, let him dye, and we also will be my lordes bondmen.
9 Aquele dos teus servos com quem a taça for encontrada, morra; e ainda nós seremos escravos do meu senhor.
10 And he said, Now then let it be according vnto your wordes: he with whome it is found, shall be my seruant, and ye shalbe blamelesse.
10 Ao que disse ele: Seja conforme as vossas palavras; aquele com quem a taça for encontrada será meu escravo; mas vós sereis inocentes.
11 Then at once euery man tooke downe his sacke to the grounde, and euery one opened his sacke.
11 Então eles se apressaram cada um a pôr em terra o seu saco, e cada um a abri-lo.
12 And he searched, and began at the eldest and left at the yongest: and the cuppe was found in Beniamins sacke.
12 E o despenseiro buscou, começando pelo maior, e acabando pelo mais novo; e achou-se a taça no saco de Benjamim.
13 Then they rent their clothes, and laded euery man his asse, and went againe into the citie.
13 Então rasgaram os seus vestidos e, tendo cada um carregado o seu jumento, voltaram à cidade.
14 So Iudah and his brethren came to Iosephs house (for he was yet there) and they fel before him on the ground.
14 E veio Judá com seus irmãos à casa de José, pois ele ainda estava ali; e prostraram-se em terra diante dele.
15 Then Ioseph sayd vnto them, What acte is this, which ye haue done? know ye not that such a man as I, can deuine and prophecie?
15 Logo lhes perguntou José: Que ação é esta que praticastes? não sabeis vós que um homem como eu pode, muito bem, adivinhar?
16 Then sayd Iudah, What shall we say vnto my lord? what shall we speake? and howe can we iustifie our selues? God hath found out the wickednesse of thy seruants: beholde, we are seruants to my Lord, both wee, and he, with whome the cuppe is founde.
16 Respondeu Judá: Que diremos a meu senhor? que falaremos? e como nos justificaremos? Descobriu Deus a iniqüidade de teus servos; eis que somos escravos de meu senhor, tanto nós como aquele em cuja mão foi achada a taça.
17 But he answered, God forbid, that I should doe so, but the man, with whome the cuppe is founde, he shalbe my seruant, and go ye in peace vnto your father.
17 Disse José: Longe esteja eu de fazer isto; o homem em cuja mão a taça foi achada, aquele será meu servo; porém, quanto a vós, subi em paz para vosso pai.
18 Then Iudah drewe neere vnto him, and sayde, O my Lord, let thy seruant nowe speake a worde in my lordes eares, and let not thy wrath be kindled against thy seruant: for thou art euen as Pharaoh.
18 Então Judá se chegou a ele, e disse: Ai! senhor meu, deixa, peço-te, o teu servo dizer uma palavra aos ouvidos de meu senhor; e não se acenda a tua ira contra o teu servo; porque tu és como Faraó.
19 My Lord asked his seruants, saying, Haue ye a father, or a brother?
19 Meu senhor perguntou a seus servos, dizendo: Tendes vós pai, ou irmão?
20 And we answered my Lord, We haue a father that is olde, and a young childe, which he begate in his age: and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loueth him.
20 E respondemos a meu senhor: Temos pai, já velho, e há um filho da sua velhice, um menino pequeno; o irmão deste é morto, e ele ficou o único de sua mãe; e seu pai o ama.
21 Now thou saidest vnto thy seruants, Bring him vnto me, that I may set mine eye vpon him.
21 Então tu disseste a teus servos: Trazei-mo, para que eu ponha os olhos sobre ele.
22 And we answered my lord, The childe can not depart from his father: for if he leaue his father, his father would die.
22 E quando respondemos a meu senhor: O menino não pode deixar o seu pai; pois se ele deixasse o seu pai, este morreria;
23 Then saydest thou vnto thy seruants, Except your yonger brother come downe with you, looke in my face no more.
23 replicaste a teus servos: A menos que desça convosco vosso irmão mais novo, nunca mais vereis a minha face.
24 So when we came vnto thy seruant our father, and shewed him what my lord had sayd,
24 Então subimos a teu servo, meu pai, e lhe contamos as palavras de meu senhor.
25 And our father sayde vnto vs, Goe againe, bye vs a litle foode,
25 Depois disse nosso pai: Tornai, comprai-nos um pouco de mantimento;
26 Then we answered, We can not go downe: but if our yongest brother go with vs, then will we go downe: for we may not see the mans face, except our yongest brother be with vs.
26 e lhe respondemos: Não podemos descer; mas, se nosso irmão menor for conosco, desceremos; pois não podemos ver a face do homem, se nosso irmão menor não estiver conosco.
27 Then thy seruant my father sayde vnto vs, Ye knowe that my wife bare me two sonnes,
27 Então nos disse teu servo, meu pai: Vós sabeis que minha mulher me deu dois filhos;
28 And the one went out from me, and I said, Of a suretie he is torne in pieces, and I sawe him not since.
28 um saiu de minha casa e eu disse: certamente foi despedaçado, e não o tenho visto mais;
29 Nowe yee take this also away from me: if death take him, then yee shall bring my graye head in sorowe to the graue.
29 se também me tirardes a este, e lhe acontecer algum desastre, fareis descer as minhas cãs com tristeza ao Seol.
30 Nowe therefore, when I come to thy seruant my father, and the childe be not with vs (seeing that his life dependeth on the childes life)
30 Agora, pois, se eu for ter com o teu servo, meu pai, e o menino não estiver conosco, como a sua alma está ligada com a alma dele,
31 Then when hee shall see that the childe is not come, he will die: so shall thy seruants bring the graye head of thy seruant our father with sorowe to the graue.
31 acontecerá que, vendo ele que o menino ali não está, morrerá; e teus servos farão descer as cãs de teu servo, nosso pai com tristeza ao Seol.
32 Doubtlesse thy seruant became suertie for the childe to my father, and said, If I bring him not vnto thee againe, then I will beare the blame vnto my father for euer.
32 Porque teu servo se deu como fiador pelo menino para com meu pai, dizendo: Se eu to não trouxer de volta, serei culpado, para com meu pai para sempre.
33 Nowe therefore, I pray thee, let me thy seruant bide for the childe, as a seruant to my Lord, and let the childe go vp with his brethren.
33 Agora, pois, fique teu servo em lugar do menino como escravo de meu senhor, e que suba o menino com seus irmãos.
34 For how can I go vp to my father, if the childe be not with me, vnlesse I woulde see the euil that shall come on my father?
34 Porque, como subirei eu a meu pai, se o menino não for comigo? para que não veja eu o mal que sobrevirá a meu pai.
