1 Thou also, take vp a lamentation for the princes of Israel,
1 — Quanto a você, faça uma lamentação sobre os príncipes de Israel.
2 And say, Wherefore lay thy mother as a lyonesse among the lyons? she nourished her yong ones among the lyons whelps,
2 Diga: “Que bela leoa entre os leões era a sua mãe! Deitada entre os leõezinhos, criou os seus filhotes.
3 And she brought vp one of her whelps, and it became a lyon, and it learned to catch the praye, and it deuoured men.
3 Criou um dos seus filhotinhos, que, ao se tornar um leãozinho, aprendeu a despedaçar a presa; chegou a devorar gente.
4 The nations also heard of him, and he was taken in their nets, and they brought him in chaines vnto the land of Egypt.
4 Quando as nações ouviram falar dele, o apanharam na cova que fizeram, e ele foi levado com ganchos para a terra do Egito.
5 Nowe when she sawe, that she had waited and her hope was lost, she tooke another of her whelps, and made him a lyon.
5 Vendo frustrada e perdida a sua esperança, a leoa pegou outro dos seus filhotes e o fez leãozinho.
6 Which went among the lyons, and became a lyon, and learned to catch the praye, and he deuoured men.
6 Este, andando entre os leões, veio a ser um leãozinho e aprendeu a despedaçar a presa; chegou a devorar gente.
7 And he knew their widowes, and he destroyed their cities, and the land was wasted, and all that was therein by the noyse of his roaring.
7 Destruiu palácios e arrasou cidades. A terra e os seus moradores ficaram assustados, ao ouvirem o seu rugido.
8 Then the nations set against him on euery side of the countreys, and laide their nets for him: so he was taken in their pit.
8 Então se ajuntaram contra ele os povos das províncias vizinhas. Estenderam sobre ele a rede, e ele foi apanhado na cova que fizeram.
9 And they put him in prison and in chaines, and brought him to the King of Babel, and they put him in holdes, that his voyce should no more be heard vpon the mountaines of Israel.
9 Com ganchos, meteram-no dentro de uma jaula e o levaram ao rei da Babilônia. Deixaram-no preso, para que nunca mais se ouvisse o seu rugido nos montes de Israel.”
10 Thy mother is like a vine in thy blood, planted by the waters: she brought foorth fruite and branches by the abundant waters,
10 “Sua mãe era como uma videira dentro da vinha, plantada junto às águas; ela frutificou e se encheu de ramos, por causa das muitas águas.
11 And she had strong rods for the scepters of them that beare rule, and her stature was exalted among the branches, and she appeared in her height with the multitude of her branches.
11 Os galhos fortes se tornaram para ela cetros de dominadores. A sua estatura se elevou até as nuvens, e na sua altura era visível com a multidão dos seus ramos.
12 But she was plucked vp in wrath: she was cast downe to the ground, and the East winde dried vp her fruite: her branches were broken, and withered: as for the rod of her strength, the fire consumed it.
12 Mas ela foi arrancada com furor e jogada no chão. O vento leste secou os seus frutos. Seus fortes galhos foram quebrados e secaram; o fogo os consumiu.
13 And now she is planted in the wildernes in a drie and thirstie ground.
13 Agora, a videira está plantada no deserto, numa terra seca e sedenta.
14 And fire is gone out of a rod of her branches, which hath deuoured her fruite, so that she hath no strong rod to be a scepter to rule: this is a lamentation and shalbe for a lamentation.
14 Do ramo principal saiu fogo que consumiu o seu fruto, de maneira que já não há nela galho forte que sirva de cetro para dominar.” Esta é uma lamentação e ficará servindo de lamentação.
