1 Then the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
1 O S enhor disse a Moisés:
2 Speake to the children of Israel, that they returne and campe before Pi-hahiroth, betweene Migdol and the Sea, ouer against Baal-zephon: about it shall ye campe by the Sea.
2 “Ordene aos israelitas que deem a volta e acampem em Pi-Hairote, entre Migdol e o mar. Acampem ali, à beira do mar, em frente a Baal-Zefom.
3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are tangled in the land: the wildernesse hath shut them in.
3 O faraó pensará: ‘Os israelitas estão vagando perdidos, prisioneiros do deserto!’.
4 And I will harden Pharaohs heart that hee shall follow after you: so I will get mee honour vpon Pharaoh, and vpon all his hoste: the Egyptians also shall knowe that I am the Lord: and they did so.
4 Mais uma vez, endurecerei o coração do faraó, e ele os perseguirá. Planejei tudo isso para mostrar minha glória por meio do faraó e de todo o seu exército. Então os egípcios saberão que eu sou o S enhor ”. E os israelitas assim fizeram.
5 Then it was told the King of Egypt, that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his seruants was turned against the people, and they sayde, Why haue we this done, and haue let Israel go out of our seruice?
5 Quando o rei do Egito soube que o povo de Israel havia fugido, ele e seus oficiais mudaram de ideia. “O que fizemos?”, perguntavam. “Como pudemos deixar todos os escravos israelitas escaparem?”
6 And he made ready his charets, and tooke his people with him,
6 Então o faraó mandou preparar sua carruagem e convocou suas tropas.
7 And tooke sixe hundreth chosen charets, and all the charets of Egypt, and captaines ouer euery one of them.
7 Levou consigo seiscentos dos melhores carros de guerra, além das demais carruagens de batalha do Egito, cada uma com seu comandante.
8 (For the Lord had hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he followed after the children of Israel: but the children of Israel went out with an hie hand)
8 O S enhor endureceu o coração do faraó, rei do Egito, para que ele perseguisse os israelitas, que haviam partido triunfantemente.
9 And the Egyptians pursued after them, and all the horses and charets of Pharaoh, and his horsemen and his hoste ouertooke them camping by the Sea, beside Pi-hahiroth, before Baal-zephon.
9 Os egípcios os perseguiram com todas as forças do exército do faraó — todos os seus cavalos e carros de guerra, cavaleiros e tropas — e os alcançaram no acampamento em Pi-Hairote, à beira do mar, em frente a Baal-Zefom.
10 And when Pharaoh drew nie, the children of Israel lift vp their eyes, and beholde, the Egyptians marched after them, and they were sore afrayde: wherefore the children of Israel cried vnto the Lord.
10 Quando o faraó se aproximava, os israelitas levantaram os olhos e viram os egípcios marchando contra eles. Em pânico, clamaram ao S enhor
11 And they sayde vnto Moses, Hast thou brought vs to die in the wildernes, because there were no graues in Egypt? wherefore hast thou serued vs thus, to carie vs out of Egypt?
11 e disseram a Moisés: “Por que você nos trouxe ao deserto para morrer? Não havia sepulturas no Egito? O que você fez conosco? Por que nos forçou a sair do Egito?
12 Did not wee tell thee this thing in Egypt, saying, Let vs be in rest, that we may serue the Egyptians? for it had bene better for vs to serue the Egyptians, then that wee shoulde dye in the wildernesse.
12 Quando ainda estávamos no Egito, não lhe avisamos que isso aconteceria? Dissemos: ‘Deixe-nos em paz! Continuaremos a servir os egípcios. Afinal, é melhor ser escravo no Egito que ser um cadáver no deserto!’”.
13 Then Moses sayde to the people, Feare ye not, stand still, and beholde the saluation of the Lord which he will shew to you this day. For the Egyptians, whome ye haue seene this day, ye shall neuer see them againe.
13 Moisés, porém, disse: “Não tenham medo. Apenas permaneçam firmes e vejam como o S enhor os resgatará neste dia. Vocês nunca mais verão os egípcios que estão vendo hoje.
14 The Lord shall fight for you: therefore hold you your peace.
14 O próprio S enhor lutará por vocês. Fiquem calmos!”.
15 And the Lord sayd vnto Moses, Wherefore cryest thou vnto me? speake vnto the children of Israel that they go forward:
15 Então o S enhor disse a Moisés: “Por que você está clamando a mim? Diga ao povo que marche!
16 And lift thou vp thy rod, and stretche out thine hand vpon the Sea and deuide it, and let the children of Israel goe on drie ground thorow the middes of the Sea.
16 Tome sua vara e estenda a mão sobre o mar. Divida as águas para que os israelitas atravessem pelo meio do mar, em terra seca.
17 And I, beholde, I will harden the heart of the Egyptians, that they may follow them, and I wil get me honour vpon Pharaoh, and vpon all his host, vpon his charets, and vpon his horsemen.
17 Endurecerei o coração dos egípcios, e eles virão atrás de vocês. Mostrarei minha glória por meio do faraó e de suas tropas, seus carros de guerra e seus cavaleiros.
18 Then the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I haue gotten me honour vpon Pharaoh, vpon his charets, and vpon his horsemen.
18 Quando minha glória se manifestar por meio do faraó e de seus carros de guerra e seus cavaleiros, todo o Egito a verá e saberá que eu sou o S enhor ”.
19 (And the Angel of God, which went before the hoste of Israel, remoued and went behinde them: also the pillar of the cloude went from before them, and stoode behinde them,
19 Então o anjo de Deus que ia adiante do acampamento de Israel se posicionou atrás do povo. A coluna de nuvem também mudou de lugar; foi para a retaguarda
20 And came betweene the campe of the Egyptians and the campe of Israel: it was both a cloude and darkenes, yet gaue it light by night, so that all the night long the one came not at the other)
20 e ficou entre o acampamento egípcio e o acampamento de Israel. A nuvem escura trouxe trevas para os egípcios, mas luz para os israelitas. Com isso, os dois grupos não se aproximaram durante toda a noite.
21 And Moses stretched forth his hande vpon the Sea, and the Lord caused the sea to runne backe by a strong East winde all the night, and made the Sea dry land: for the waters were deuided.
21 Então Moisés estendeu a mão sobre o mar e, com um forte vento leste, o S enhor abriu caminho no meio das águas. O vento soprou a noite toda, transformando o fundo do mar em terra seca.
22 Then the children of Israel went through the middes of the Sea vpon the drie ground, and the waters were a wall vnto them on their right hand, and on their left hand.
22 E o povo de Israel atravessou pelo meio do mar, caminhando em terra seca, com uma parede de água de cada lado.
23 And the Egyptians pursued and went after them to the middes of the Sea, euen all Pharaohs horses, his charets, and his horsemen.
23 Os egípcios, com todos os seus cavalos, carros de guerra e cavaleiros, perseguiram o povo até o meio do mar.
24 Nowe in the morning watche, when the Lord looked vnto the hoste of the Egyptians, out of the firie and cloudie pillar, he strooke the host of the Egyptians with feare.
24 Mas, pouco antes de amanhecer, do alto da coluna de fogo e de nuvem o S enhor olhou para o exército dos egípcios e causou grande confusão entre eles.
25 For he tooke off their charet wheeles, and they draue them with much a doe: so that the Egyptians euery one sayd, I wil flee from the face of Israel: for the Lord fighteth for them against the Egyptians.
25 Ele travou as rodas dos carros, dificultando sua condução. “Fujamos daqui, para longe do povo de Israel!”, gritaram os egípcios. “O S enhor está lutando por eles e contra o Egito!”
26 Then the Lord sayde to Moses, Stretche thine hand vpon the Sea, that the waters may returne vpon the Egyptians, vpon their charets and vpon their horsemen.
26 Então o S enhor disse a Moisés: “Estenda a mão sobre o mar outra vez, e as águas correrão fortemente de volta a seu lugar e cobrirão os egípcios, seus carros de guerra e seus cavaleiros”.
27 Then Moses stretched forth his hand vpon the Sea, and the Sea returned to his force early in the morning, and the Egyptians fled against it: but the Lord ouerthrew the Egyptians in the mids of the Sea.
27 Assim, ao amanhecer, Moisés estendeu a mão sobre o mar, e as águas voltaram fortemente a seu lugar. Quando os egípcios tentaram escapar, foram de encontro às águas, e o S enhor os arrastou para dentro do mar.
28 So the water returned and couered the charets and the horsemen, euen all the hoste of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them: there remained not one of them.
28 As águas voltaram e cobriram todos os carros de guerra e cavaleiros, todo o exército do faraó. Nenhum dos egípcios que havia perseguido os israelitas até o meio do mar sobreviveu.
29 But the children of Israel walked vpon dry land thorowe the middes of the Sea, and the waters were a wall vnto them on their right hande, and on their left.
29 O povo de Israel, por sua vez, atravessou pelo meio do mar, em terra seca, enquanto as águas formavam uma parede de cada lado.
30 Thus the Lord saued Israel the same day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel sawe the Egyptians dead vpon the Sea banke.
30 Foi assim que o S enhor libertou Israel das mãos dos egípcios naquele dia, e os israelitas conseguiam ver os cadáveres dos egípcios na praia.
31 And Israel saw the mightie power, which the Lord shewed vpon the Egyptians: so the people feared the Lord, and beleeued the Lord, and his seruant Moses.
31 Quando o povo de Israel viu o grande poder do S enhor contra os egípcios, encheu-se de temor diante dele e passou a confiar no S enhor e em seu servo Moisés.
