1 When the Lord thy God shall roote out the nations, whose lande the Lord thy God giueth thee, and thou shalt possesse them, and dwell in their cities, and in their houses,
1 Quando o SENHOR teu Deus desarraigar as nações cuja terra te dará o SENHOR teu Deus, e tu as possuíres, e morares nas suas cidades e nas suas casas,
2 Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the middes of thy lande which the Lord thy God giueth thee to possesse it.
2 Três cidades separarás, no meio da terra que te dará o Senhor teu Deus para a possuíres.
3 Thou shalt prepare thee the way, and deuide the coastes of the land, which the Lord thy God giueth thee to inherite, into three parts, that euery manslayer may flee thither.
3 Preparar-te-ás o caminho; e os termos da tua terra, que te fará possuir o Senhor teu Deus, dividirás em três; e isto será para que todo o homicida se acolha ali.
4 This also is ye cause wherfore the manslayer shall flee thither, and liue: who so killeth his neighbor ignorantly, and hated him not in time passed:
4 E este é o caso tocante ao homicida, que se acolher ali, para que viva; aquele que por engano ferir o seu próximo, a quem não odiava antes;
5 As hee that goeth vnto the wood with his neighbor to hew wood, and his hand striketh with the axe to cut downe the tree, if the head slip from the helue, and hit his neighbour that he dieth, the same shall flee vnto one of the cities, and liue,
5 Como aquele que entrar com o seu próximo no bosque, para cortar lenha, e, pondo força na sua mão com o machado para cortar a árvore, o ferro saltar do cabo e ferir o seu próximo e este morrer, aquele se acolherá a uma destas cidades, e viverá;
6 Least the auenger of the blood follow after the manslayer, while his heart is chafed, and ouertake him, because the way is long, and slaie him, although he be not worthy of death, because he hated him not in time passed.
6 Para que o vingador do sangue não vá após o homicida, quando se enfurecer o seu coração, e o alcançar, por ser comprido o caminho, e lhe tire a vida; porque não é culpado de morte, pois o não odiava antes.
7 Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt appoint out three cities for thee.
7 Portanto te dou ordem, dizendo: Três cidades separarás.
8 And when the Lord thy God enlargeth thy coastes (as he hath sworne vnto thy fathers) and giueth thee all the lande which he promised to giue vnto thy fathers,
8 E, se o Senhor teu Deus dilatar os teus termos, como jurou a teus pais, e te der toda a terra que disse daria a teus pais
9 (If thou keepe all these commandements to doe them, which I commaund thee this day: to wit, that thou loue the Lord thy God, and walke in his waies for euer) then shalt thou adde three cities moe for thee besides those three,
9 (Quando guardares todos estes mandamentos, que hoje te ordeno, para cumprí-los, amando ao Senhor teu Deus e andando nos seus caminhos todos os dias), então acrescentarás outras três cidades além destas três.
10 That innocent bloude be not shed within thy land, which the Lord thy God giueth thee to inherite, lest bloud be vpon thee.
10 Para que o sangue inocente não se derrame no meio da tua terra, que o Senhor teu Deus te dá por herança, e haja sangue sobre ti.
11 But if a man hate his neighbour, and lay waite for him, and rise against him, and smite any man that he die, and flee vnto any of these cities,
11 Mas, havendo alguém que odeia a seu próximo, e lhe arma ciladas, e se levanta contra ele, e o fere mortalmente, e se acolhe a alguma destas cidades,
12 Then the Elders of his citie shall send and set him thence, and deliuer him into the hands of the auenger of the blood, that he may die.
12 Então os anciãos da sua cidade mandarão buscá-lo; e dali o tirarão, e o entregarão na mão do vingador do sangue, para que morra.
13 Thine eye shall not spare him, but thou shalt put away the crie of innocent blood from Israel, that it may goe well with thee.
13 O teu olho não o perdoará; antes tirarás o sangue inocente de Israel, para que bem te suceda.
14 Thou shalt not remooue thy neighbours marke, which they of olde time haue set in thine inheritance, that thou shalt inherite in the lande, which ye Lord thy God giueth thee to possesse it.
14 Não mudes o limite do teu próximo, que estabeleceram os antigos na tua herança, que receberás na terra que te dá o Senhor teu Deus para a possuíres.
15 One witnes shall not rise against a man for any trespasse, or for any sinne, or for any fault that hee offendeth in, but at the mouth of two witnesses or at the mouth of three witnesses shall the matter be stablished.
15 Uma só testemunha contra alguém não se levantará por qualquer iniqüidade, ou por qualquer pecado, seja qual for o pecado que cometeu; pela boca de duas testemunhas, ou pela boca de três testemunhas, se estabelecerá o fato.
16 If a false witnesse rise vp against a man to accuse him of trespasse,
16 Quando se levantar testemunha falsa contra alguém, para testificar contra ele acerca de transgressão,
17 Then both the men which striue together, shall stand before ye Lord, euen before the Priests and the Iudges, which shall be in those daies,
17 Então aqueles dois homens, que tiverem a demanda, se apresentarão perante o Senhor, diante dos sacerdotes e dos juízes que houver naqueles dias.
18 And the Iudges shall make diligent inquisition: and if the witnesse be found false, and hath giuen false witnes against his brother,
18 E os juízes inquirirão bem; e eis que, sendo a testemunha falsa, que testificou falsamente contra seu irmão,
19 Then shall yee doe vnto him as hee had thought to doe vnto his brother: so thou shalt take euil away forth of the middes of thee.
19 Far-lhe-eis como cuidou fazer a seu irmão; e assim tirarás o mal do meio de ti.
20 And the rest shall heare this, and feare, and shall henceforth commit no more any such wickednes among you.
20 Para que os que ficarem o ouçam e temam, e nunca mais tornem a fazer tal mal no meio de ti.
21 Therefore thine eye shall have no compassion, but life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foote for foote.
21 O teu olho não perdoará; vida por vida, olho por olho, dente por dente, mão por mão, pé por pé.
