1 And the wrath of the Lord was againe kindled against Israel, and he moued Dauid against them, in that he saide, Goe, number Israel and Iudah.
1 E, mais uma vez, a ira do SENHOR acendeu-se contra Israel, e ele moveu Davi contra eles para dizer: Ide e enumerai Israel e Judá.
2 For the King said to Ioab the captaine of the hoste, which was with him, Goe speedily now through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan euen to Beer-sheba, and nomber ye the people, that I may knowe the nomber of the people.
2 Porque o rei disse a Joabe, o capitão do exército, que estava com ele: Ide, agora, por todas as tribos de Israel, desde Dã até Berseba, e enumerai o povo, para que eu possa saber o número do povo.
3 And Ioab saide vnto the King, The Lord thy God increase the people an hundreth folde more then they be, and that the eyes of my lorde the King may see it: but why doeth my lord the King desire this thing?
3 E Joabe disse ao rei: Ora, o SENHOR teu Deus acrescenta ao povo tantos quantos forem, um cêntuplo, e que os olhos do meu senhor, o rei, possam enxergar isto; mas, por que o meu senhor, o rei, deleita-se nesta coisa?
4 Notwithstanding the Kings worde preuailed against Ioab and against the captaines of the hoste: therefore Ioab and the captaines of the hoste went out from the presence of the King to nomber the people of Israel.
4 Não obstante, a palavra do rei prevaleceu contra Joabe, e contra os capitães do exército. E Joabe e os capitães do exército se retiraram da presença do rei para enumerar o povo de Israel.
5 And they passed ouer Iorden, and pitched in Aroer at the right side of the citie that is in the middes of the valley of Gad and toward Iazer.
5 E eles passaram sobre o Jordão, e acamparam em Aroer, no lado direito da cidade que se assenta no meio do rio de Gade, em direção a Jazer;
6 Then they came to Gilead, and to Tahtim-hodshi, so they came to Dan Iaan, and so about to Zidon,
6 então eles chegaram a Gileade, e à terra de Cades; e chegaram a Dã-Jaã, e perto de Sidom,
7 And came to the fortresse of Tyrus and to all the cities of the Hiuites and of the Canaanites, and went towarde the South of Iudah, euen to Beer-sheba.
7 e chegaram à fortaleza de Tiro, e a todas as cidades dos heveus, e dos cananeus; e saíram em direção ao sul de Judá, até Berseba.
8 So when they had gone about all the lande, they returned to Ierusalem at the ende of nine moneths and twentie dayes.
8 Assim, quando haviam passado por toda a terra, chegaram a Jerusalém, ao fim de nove meses e vinte dias.
9 And Ioab deliuered the nomber and summe of the people vnto the King: and there were in Israel eight hundreth thousande strong men that drewe swordes, and the men of Iudah were fiue hundreth thousand men.
9 E Joabe entregou a soma do número das pessoas ao rei; e havia em Israel oitocentos mil homens valentes que desembainhavam a espada; e os homens de Judá eram quinhentos mil homens.
10 Then Dauids heart smote him, after that he had numbred the people: and Dauid said vnto the Lord, I haue sinned exceedingly in that I haue done: therefore nowe, Lord, I beseech thee, take away the trespasse of thy seruant: for I haue done very foolishly.
10 E o coração de Davi o feriu depois de ele haver enumerado o povo. E Davi disse ao SENHOR: Pequei grandemente naquilo que fiz; e, agora, suplico-te, ó SENHOR, retira a iniquidade do teu servo; porquanto agi mui loucamente.
11 And when Dauid was vp in the morning, the worde of the Lord came vnto the Prophet Gad Dauids Seer, saying,
11 Porque, quando Davi estava de pé, pela manhã, a palavra do SENHOR veio ao profeta Gade, o vidente de Davi, dizendo:
12 Go, and say vnto Dauid, Thus saith ye Lord, I offer thee three thinges, chuse thee which of them I shall doe vnto thee.
12 Vai e diz a Davi: Assim diz o SENHOR: Ofereço-te três coisas, escolhe uma delas para que eu possa fazê-la para ti.
13 So Gad came to Dauid, and shewed him, and said vnto him, Wilt thou that seuen yeeres famine come vpon thee in thy lande, or wilt thou flee three moneths before thine enemies, they following thee, or that there bee three dayes pestilence in thy land? nowe aduise thee, and see, what answere I shall giue to him that sent me.
13 Assim, Gade veio até Davi, e contou-lhe, e lhe disse: Vir-te-ão sete anos de fome na tua terra? Ou queres tu fugir três meses diante dos teus inimigos, enquanto eles te perseguem? Ou que haja três dias de peste na tua terra? Agora, aconselha, e vê qual resposta devo retornar àquele que me enviou.
14 And Dauid said vnto Gad, I am in a wonderfull strait: let vs fall nowe into the hand of the Lord, (for his mercies are great) and let mee not fall into the hand of man.
14 E Davi disse a Gade: Estou em um grande aperto; que caiamos, agora, na mão do SENHOR; porque as suas misericórdias são grandes; e que eu não caia na mão de homem.
15 So the Lord sent a pestilece in Israel, from the morning euen to the time appointed: and there dyed of the people from Dan euen to Beer-sheba seuentie thousand men.
15 Assim, o SENHOR enviou uma peste sobre Israel desde a manhã até a hora determinada; e ali morreram do povo, desde Dã até Berseba, setenta mil homens.
16 And when the Angel stretched out his hande vpon Ierusalem to destroy it, the Lord repented of the euil, and said to the Angel that destroyed the people, It is sufficient, holde nowe thine hand. And the Angel of the Lord was by the threshing place of Araunah the Iebusite.
16 E quando o anjo estendeu a sua mão sobre Jerusalém para destruí-la, o SENHOR se arrependeu do mal, e disse ao anjo que destruía o povo: Basta! Retém, agora, a tua mão. E o anjo do SENHOR estava junto à eira de Araúna, o jebuseu.
17 And Dauid spake vnto the Lord (when he sawe the Angel that smote the people) and saide, Behold, I haue sinned, yea, I haue done wickedly: but these sheepe, what haue they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against mee and against my fathers house.
17 E Davi falou ao SENHOR, quando viu o anjo que feria o povo, e disse: Eis que pequei e procedi impiamente; mas estas ovelhas, o que fizeram elas? Que a tua mão, rogo-te, esteja contra mim, e contra a casa do meu pai.
18 So Gad came the same day to Dauid, and said vnto him, Go vp, reare an altar vnto the Lord in the threshing floore of Araunah the Iebusite.
18 E Gade veio naquele dia até Davi, e disse a ele: Sobe, levanta um altar ao SENHOR na eira de Araúna, o jebuseu.
19 And Dauid (according to the saying of Gad) went vp, as the Lord had commanded.
19 E Davi, segundo o dizer de Gade, subiu, conforme ordenou o SENHOR.
20 And Araunah looked, and sawe the King and his seruants comming towarde him, and Araunah went out, and bowed himselfe before the King on his face to the ground,
20 E Araúna olhou, e viu o rei e os seus servos vindo em sua direção; e Araúna saiu, e se curvou com o seu rosto em terra diante do rei.
21 And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the King come to his seruant? Then Dauid answered, To bye the threshing floore of thee for to builde an altar vnto the Lord, that the plague may cease from the people.
21 E Araúna disse: Por que veio o meu senhor, o rei, até o seu servo? E Davi disse: Para comprar de ti a eira, para construir um altar para o SENHOR, para que a praga possa ser detida do povo.
22 Then Araunah saide vnto Dauid, Let my lord the King take and offer what seemeth him good in his eyes: beholde the oxen for the burnt offring, and charets, and the instruments of the oxen for wood.
22 E Araúna disse a Davi: Que o meu senhor, o rei, tome e ofereça o que parecer bom a si; eis que aqui estão bois para sacrifício queimado, e instrumentos para joeiramento e outros instrumentos dos bois para lenha.
23 (All these things did Araunah as a King giue vnto the King: and Araunah saide vnto the King, The Lord thy God be fauourable vnto thee)
23 Todas estas coisas fez Araúna, como um rei dá ao rei. E Araúna disse ao rei: O SENHOR teu Deus te aceita.
24 Then the King saide vnto Araunah, Not so, but I will bye it of thee at a price, and will not offer burnt offring vnto ye Lord my God of that which doeth cost me nothing. So Dauid bought the threshing floore, and the oxen for fiftie shekels of siluer.
24 E o rei disse a Araúna: Não! Certamente desejo comprá-la de ti mediante um preço; tampouco oferecerei ofertas queimadas ao SENHOR meu Deus daquilo que não me custar nada. Assim, Davi comprou a eira e os bois por cinquenta shekels de prata.
25 And Dauid built there an altar vnto the Lord, and offred burnt offrings and peace offrings, and the Lord was appeased toward ye lande, and the plague ceased from Israel.
25 E Davi construiu ali um altar para o SENHOR, e ofereceu ofertas queimadas e ofertas de paz. Assim, o SENHOR foi suplicado em favor da terra, e a praga foi detida de Israel.
