1 And one of the wiues of the sonnes of the Prophets cryed vnto Elisha, saying, Thy seruant mine husband is dead, and thou knowest, that thy seruant did feare the Lord: and the creditour is come to take my two sonnes to bee his bondmen.
1 Ora uma dentre as mulheres dos filhos dos profetas clamou a Eliseu, dizendo: Meu marido, teu servo, morreu; e tu sabes que o teu servo temia ao Senhor. Agora acaba de chegar o credor para levar-me os meus dois filhos para serem escravos.
2 Then Elisha saide vnto her, What shall I do for thee? tell mee, what hast thou at home? And she sayd, Thine handmayd hath nothing at home, saue a pitcher of oyle.
2 Perguntou-lhe Eliseu: Que te hei de fazer? Dize-me o que tens em casa. E ela disse: Tua serva não tem nada em casa, senão uma botija de azeite.
3 And he sayde, Goe, and borowe thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, emptie vessels, and spare not.
3 Disse-lhe ele: Vai, pede emprestadas vasilhas a todos os teus vizinhos, vasilhas vazias, não poucas.
4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the doore vpon thee and vpon thy sonnes, and powre out into all those vessels, and set aside those that are full.
4 Depois entra, e fecha a porta sobre ti e sobre teus filhos; deita azeite em todas essas vasilhas, e põe à parte a que estiver cheia.
5 So shee departed from him, and shut the doore vpon her, and vpon her sonnes. And they brought to her, and she powred out.
5 Então ela se apartou dele. Depois, fechada a porta sobre si e sobre seus filhos, estes lhe chegavam as vasilhas, e ela as enchia.
6 And when the vessels were full, shee sayde vnto her sonne, Bring mee yet a vessel. And hee said vnto her, There is no moe vessels. And the oyle ceased.
6 Cheias que foram as vasilhas, disse a seu filho: Chega-me ainda uma vasilha. Mas ele respondeu: Não há mais vasilha nenhuma. Então o azeite parou.
7 Then shee came and tolde the man of God. And he saide, Goe, and sell the oyle, and pay them that thou art in debt vnto, and liue thou and thy children of the rest.
7 Veio ela, pois, e o fez saber ao homem de Deus. Disse-lhe ele: Vai, vende o azeite, e paga a tua dívida; e tu e teus filhos vivei do resto.
8 And on a time Elisha came to Shunem, and there a woman of great estimation constrained him to eate bread: and as he passed by, he turned in thither to eate bread.
8 Sucedeu também certo dia que Eliseu foi a Suném, onde havia uma mulher rica que o reteve para comer; e todas as vezes que ele passava por ali, lá se dirigia para comer.
9 And she sayde vnto her husband, Beholde, I know now, that this is an holy man of God that passeth by vs continually.
9 E ela disse a seu marido: Tenho observado que este que passa sempre por nós é um santo homem de Deus.
10 Let vs make him a litle chamber, I pray thee, with walles, and let vs set him there a bed, and a table, and a stoole, and a candlesticke, that hee may turne in thither when hee commeth to vs.
10 Façamos-lhe, pois, um pequeno quarto sobre o muro; e ponhamos-lhe ali uma cama, uma mesa, uma cadeira e um candeeiro; e há de ser que, quando ele vier a nós se recolherá ali.
11 And on a day, hee came thither and turned into the chamber, and lay therein,
11 Sucedeu que um dia ele chegou ali, recolheu-se àquele quarto e se deitou.
12 And sayd to Gehazi his seruant, Call this Shunammite: and when hee called her, she stood before him.
12 Então disse ao seu moço Geazi: Chama esta sunamita. Ele a chamou, e ela se apresentou perante ele.
13 Then he sayd vnto him, Say vnto her now, Beholde, thou hast had all this great care for vs, what shall we doe for thee? Is there any thing to bee spoken for thee to the King or to the captaine of the hoste? And shee answered, I dwell among mine owne people.
13 Pois Eliseu havia dito a Geazi: Dize-lhe: Eis que tu nos tens tratado com todo o desvelo; que se há de fazer por ti? Haverá alguma coisa de que se fale por ti ao rei, ou ao chefe do exército? Ao que ela respondera: Eu habito no meio do meu povo.
14 Againe he sayde, What is then to be done for her? Then Gehazi answered, In deede she hath no sonne, and her husband is olde.
14 Então dissera ele: Que se há de fazer, pois por ela? E Geazi dissera: Ora, ela não tem filho, e seu marido é velho.
15 Then said he, Cal her. And hee called her, and shee stoode in the doore.
15 Pelo que disse ele: Chama-a. E ele a chamou, e ela se pôs à porta.
16 And he said, At this time appointed, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a sonne. And she sayd, Oh my Lord, thou man of God, doe not lye vnto thine handmayd.
16 E Eliseu disse: Por este tempo, no ano próximo, abraçarás um filho. Respondeu ela: Não, meu senhor, homem de Deus, não mintas à tua serva.
17 So the woman conceiued, and bare a sonne at that same season, according to the time of life, that Elisha had sayd vnto her.
17 Mas a mulher concebeu, e deu à luz um filho, no tempo determinado, no ano seguinte como Eliseu lhe dissera.
18 And when the childe was growen, it fell on a day, that he went out to his father, and to the reapers.
18 Tendo o menino crescido, saiu um dia a ter com seu pai, que estava com os segadores.
19 And he sayde to his father, Mine head, mine head. Who sayd to his seruant, Beare him to his mother.
19 Disse a seu pai: Minha cabeça! minha cabeça! Então ele disse a um moço: Leva-o a sua mãe.
20 And hee tooke him and brought him to his mother, and hee sate on her knees till noone, and dyed.
20 Este o tomou, e o levou a sua mãe; e o menino esteve sobre os joelhos dela até o meio-dia, e então morreu.
21 Then shee went vp, and layed him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the doore vpon him, and went out.
21 Ela subiu, deitou-o sobre a cama do homem de Deus e, fechando sobre ele a porta, saiu.
22 Then she called to her husband, and sayd, Send with me, I pray thee, one of the yong men and one of the asses: for I will haste to the man of God, and come againe.
22 Então chamou a seu marido, e disse: Manda-me, peço-te, um dos moços e uma das jumentas, para que eu corra ao homem de Deus e volte.
23 And he sayd, Wherefore wilt thou goe to him to day? it is neither newe moone nor Sabbath day. And she answered, All shalbe well.
23 Disse ele: Por que queres ir ter com ele hoje? Não é lua nova nem sábado. E ela disse: Tudo vai bem.
24 Then she sadled an asse, and sayde to her seruant, Driue, and goe forward: staye not for me to get vp, except I bid thee.
24 Então ela fez albardar a jumenta, e disse ao seu moço: Guia e anda, e não me detenhas no caminhar, senão quando eu to disser.
25 So she went, and came vnto the man of God to mount Carmel. And when the man of God sawe her ouer against him, he sayd to Gehazi his seruant, Beholde, the Shunammite.
25 Partiu pois, e foi ter com o homem de Deus, ao monte Carmelo; e sucedeu que, vendo-a de longe o homem de Deus, disse a Geazi, seu moço: Eis aí a sunamita;
26 Runne nowe, I say, to meete her, and say vnto her, Art thou in health? is thine husband in health? and is the child in health? And she answered, We are in health.
26 corre-lhe ao encontro e pergunta-lhe: Vais bem? Vai bem teu marido? Vai bem teu filho? Ela respondeu: Vai bem.
27 And when shee came to the man of God vnto the moutaine, she caught him by his feete: and Gehazi went to her, to thrust her away: but the man of God said, Let her alone: for her soule is vexed within her, and the Lord hath hid it from me, and hath not told it mee.
27 Chegando ela ao monte, à presença do homem de Deus, apegou-se-lhe aos pés. Chegou-se Geazi para a retirar, porém, o homem de Deus lhe disse: Deixa-a, porque a sua alma está em amargura, e o Senhor mo encobriu, e não mo manifestou.
28 Then she said, Did I desire a sonne of my lord? did I not say, Deceiue me not?
28 Então disse ela: Pedi eu a meu senhor algum filho? Não disse eu: Não me enganes?
29 Then he sayd to Gehazi, Gird thy loynes, and take my staffe in thine hand, and goe thy way: if thou meete any, salute him not: and if any salute thee, answere him not: and laye my staffe vpon the face of the childe.
29 Ao que ele disse a Geazi: Cinge os teus lombos, toma o meu bordão na mão, e vai. Se encontrares alguém, não o saúdes; e se alguém te saudar, não lhe respondas; e põe o meu bordão sobre o rosto do menino.
30 And the mother of the childe sayde, As the Lord liueth, and as thy soule liueth, I will not leaue thee. Therefore he arose, and followed her.
30 A mãe do menino, porém, disse: Vive o senhor, e vive a tua alma, que não te hei de deixar. Então ele se levantou, e a seguiu.
31 But Gehazi was gone before them, and had layed the staffe vpon the face of the childe, but he neither spake nor heard: wherefore hee returned to meete him, and told him, saying, The childe is not waken.
31 Geazi foi adiante deles, e pôs o bordão sobre o rosto do menino; porém não havia nele voz nem sentidos. Pelo que voltou a encontrar-se com Eliseu, e o informou, dizendo: O menino não despertou.
32 Then came Elisha into the house, and beholde, the childe was dead, and layed vpon his bedde.
32 Quando Eliseu chegou à casa, eis que o menino jazia morto sobre a sua cama.
33 He went in therefore, and shut the doore vpon them twayne, and prayed vnto the Lord.
33 Então ele entrou, fechou a porta sobre eles ambos, e orou ao Senhor.
34 After he went vp, and lay vpon the child, and put his mouth on his mouth, and his eyes vpon his eies, and his hands vpon his handes, and stretched himselfe vpon him, and the flesh of the child waxed warme.
34 Em seguida subiu na cama e deitou-se sobre o menino, pondo a boca sobre a boca do menino, os olhos sobre os seus olhos, e as mãos sobre as suas mãos, e ficou encurvado sobre ele até que a carne do menino aqueceu.
35 And hee went from him, and walked vp and downe in the house, and went vp and spred himselfe vpon him: then the childe neesed seuen times, and opened his eyes.
35 Depois desceu, andou pela casa duma parte para outra, tornou a subir, e se encurvou sobre ele; então o menino espirrou sete vezes, e abriu os olhos.
36 Then he called Gehazi, and sayd, Call this Shunammite. So he called her, which came in vnto him. And he said vnto her, Take thy sonne.
36 Eliseu chamou a Geazi, e disse: Chama essa sunamita. E ele a chamou. Quando ela se lhe apresentou, disse ele: Toma o teu filho.
37 And she came, and fell at his feete, and bowed her selfe to the ground, and tooke vp her sonne, and went out.
37 Então ela entrou, e prostrou-se a seus pés, inclinando-se à terra; e tomando seu filho, saiu.
38 Afterward Elisha returned to Gilgal, and a famine was in the land, and the children of the Prophets dwelt with him. And hee sayd vnto his seruant, Set on the great pot, and seethe pottage for the children of the Prophets.
38 Eliseu voltou a Gilgal. E havia fome na terra; e os filhos dos profetas estavam sentados na sua presença. E disse ao seu moço: Põe a panela grande ao lume, e faze um caldo de ervas para os filhos dos profetas.
39 And one went out into the fielde, to gather herbes, and founde, as it were, a wilde vine, and gathered thereof wilde gourdes his garment ful, and came and shred them into the pot of pottage: for they knew it not.
39 Então um deles saiu ao campo a fim de apanhar ervas, e achando uma parra brava, colheu dela a sua capa cheia de colocíntidas e, voltando, cortou-as na panela do caldo, não sabendo o que era.
40 So they powred out for the men to eate: and when they did eate of the pottage, they cryed out, and sayde, O thou man of God, death is in the pot: and they could not eate thereof.
40 Assim tiraram de comer para os homens. E havendo eles provado o caldo, clamaram, dizendo: Ó homem de Deus, há morte na panela! E não puderam comer.
41 Then he said, Bring meale. And hee cast it into the potte, and sayd, Powre out for the people, that they may eate: and there was none euill in the pot.
41 Ele, porém, disse: Trazei farinha. E deitou-a na panela, e disse: Tirai para os homens, a fim de que comam. E já não havia mal nenhum na panela.
42 Then came a man from Baal-shalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the first fruits, euen twenty loaues of barley, and full eares of corne in the huske. And hee saide, Giue vnto the people, that they may eate.
42 Um homem veio de Baal-Salisa, trazendo ao homem de Deus pães das primícias, vinte pães de cevada, e espigas verdes no seu alforje. Eliseu disse: Dá ao povo, para que coma.
43 And his seruant answered, How shoulde I set this before an hundreth men? He sayd againe, Giue it vnto the people, that they may eate: for thus sayth the Lord, They shall eate, and there shall remaine.
43 Disse, porém, seu servo: Como hei de pôr isto diante de cem homens? Ao que tornou Eliseu: Dá-o ao povo, para que coma; porque assim diz o Senhor: Comerão e sobejará.
44 So he set it before them, and they did eate, and left ouer, according to the word of the Lord.
44 Então lhos pôs diante; e comeram, e ainda sobrou, conforme a palavra do Senhor.
