1 Then the King sent, and there gathered vnto him all the Elders of Iudah and of Ierusalem.
1 Então o rei deu ordem, e todos os anciãos de Judá e de Jerusalém se ajuntaram a ele.
2 And the King went vp into the house of the Lord, with all the men of Iudah and all the inhabitants of Ierusalem with him, and the Priests and Prophets, and all the people both small and great: and he reade in their eares all the wordes of the booke of the couenant, which was found in the house of the Lord.
2 O rei subiu à Casa do Senhor , e com ele foram todos os homens de Judá, todos os moradores de Jerusalém, os sacerdotes, os profetas e todo o povo, desde o menor até o maior. E o rei leu diante deles todas as palavras do Livro da Aliança que havia sido encontrado na Casa do Senhor .
3 And the King stood by the pillar, and made a couenant before the Lord, that they shoulde walke after the Lord, and keepe his commandements, and his testimonies, and his statutes with all their heart, and with all their soule, that they might accomplish the wordes of this couenant written in this booke. And all the people stood to the couenant.
3 O rei se pôs em pé junto à coluna e fez aliança diante do Senhor , para o seguir, guardar os seus mandamentos, os seus testemunhos e os seus estatutos, de todo o coração e de toda a alma, cumprindo as palavras desta aliança, que estavam escritas naquele livro. E todo o povo concordou com esta aliança.
4 Then the King commanded Hilkiah the hie Priest and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the doore, to bring out of ye Temple of the Lord all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the groue, and for all the hoste of heauen, and he burnt them without Ierusalem in the fieldes of Kedron, and caryed the pouder of them into Beth-el.
4 Então o rei ordenou ao sumo sacerdote Hilquias, aos sacerdotes da segunda ordem e aos guardas da porta que tirassem do templo do Senhor todos os utensílios que tinham sido feitos para Baal, para o poste da deusa Aserá e para todo o exército dos céus. Ele os queimou fora de Jerusalém, nos campos do Cedrom, e levou as cinzas para Betel.
5 And he put downe the Chemarims, whom the Kings of Iudah had founded to burne incense in the hie places, and in the cities of Iudah, and about Ierusalem, and also them that burnt incense vnto Baal, to the sunne and to the moone, and to the planets, and to all the hoste of heauen.
5 Josias destituiu os sacerdotes que os reis de Judá haviam escolhido para queimar incenso sobre os lugares altos nas cidades de Judá e ao redor de Jerusalém, bem como os que queimavam incenso a Baal, ao sol, à lua, aos planetas e a todo o exército dos céus.
6 And he brought out the groue from the Temple of the Lord without Ierusalem vnto the valley of Kedron, and burnt it in the valley Kedron, and stampt it to pouder, and cast the dust thereof vpon the graues of the children of the people.
6 Também tirou da Casa do Senhor o poste da deusa Aserá, que levou para fora de Jerusalém até o vale do Cedrom, onde o queimou e o reduziu a pó, que lançou sobre as sepulturas do povo simples.
7 And hee brake downe the houses of the Sodomites, that were in the house of the Lord, where the women woue hangings for the groue.
7 Também destruiu as dependências dos prostitutos cultuais que estavam na Casa do Senhor , onde as mulheres teciam tendas para o poste da deusa Aserá.
8 Also he brought all the priests out of the cities of Iudah, and defiled the hie places where the Priests had burnt incense, euen from Geba to Beer-sheba, and destroyed the hie places of the gates, that were in the entring in of the gate of Ioshua the gouernour of the citie, which was at the left hand of the gate of the citie.
8 Josias trouxe todos os sacerdotes das cidades de Judá e profanou os lugares altos em que os sacerdotes queimavam incenso, desde Geba até Berseba. Derrubou os altares das portas, que estavam à entrada do portão de Josué, governador da cidade, e que ficavam à esquerda de quem entrava por ela.
9 Neuerthelesse the Priests of the hie places came not vp to the altar of the Lord in Ierusalem, saue onely they did eate of the vnleauened bread among their brethren.
9 Os sacerdotes dos lugares altos não ofereciam sacrifícios sobre o altar do Senhor , em Jerusalém, mas comiam pães sem fermento no meio de seus irmãos.
10 He defiled also Topheth, which was in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man shoulde make his sonne or his daughter passe through the fire to Molech.
10 Josias também profanou Tofete, que ficava no vale dos filhos de Hinom, para que ninguém queimasse o seu filho ou a sua filha como sacrifício a Moloque.
11 He put downe also the horses that the Kings of Iudah had giuen to the sunne at the entring in of the house of the Lord, by the chamber of Nethan-melech the eunuche, which was ruler of the suburbes, and burnt the charets of the sunne with fire.
11 Também tirou os cavalos que os reis de Judá tinham dedicado ao sol, à entrada da Casa do Senhor , perto da câmara de Natã-Meleque, o camareiro, a qual ficava no átrio; e queimou os carros dedicados ao sol.
12 And the altars that were on the top of the chamber of Ahaz, which the Kings of Iudah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the Lord did the King breake downe, and hasted thence, and cast the dust of them in the brooke Kedron.
12 O rei também derrubou os altares que estavam sobre a sala de Acaz, sobre o terraço, altares que foram feitos pelos reis de Judá, bem como os altares que Manassés tinha construído nos dois átrios da Casa do Senhor . Ele os fez em pedaços, tirou dali e lançou o pó deles no ribeiro de Cedrom.
13 Moreouer the King defiled the hie places that were before Ierusalem and on the right hand of the mount of corruption (which Salomon the King of Israel had buylt for Ashtoreth the idole of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the idole of the Moabites, and for Milchom the abomination of the children of Ammon)
13 O rei profanou também os lugares altos que estavam a leste de Jerusalém, ao sul do monte da Destruição, os quais Salomão, rei de Israel, havia construído para Astarote, abominação dos sidônios, para Quemos, abominação dos moabitas, e para Milcom, abominação dos filhos de Amom.
14 And he brake the images in pieces, and cut downe the groues and filled their places with the bones of men.
14 Semelhantemente, fez em pedaços as colunas, cortou os postes da deusa Aserá e encheu de ossos humanos o lugar onde haviam estado.
15 Furthermore the altar that was at Beth-el, and the hie place made by Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne, both this altar and also the hie place, brake he downe, and burnt the hie place, and stampt it to powder and burnt the groue.
15 Josias também derrubou o altar que estava em Betel e o lugar alto que Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, havia construído para levar Israel a pecar. Destruiu o lugar alto, reduziu a pó o seu altar e queimou o poste da deusa Aserá.
16 And as Iosiah turned himselfe, he spied the graues, that were in the mount, and sent and tooke the bones out of the graues, and burnt them vpon the altar and polluted it, according to the word of the Lord, that the man of God proclaimed, which cryed the same wordes.
16 Quando Josias olhou ao seu redor, viu as sepulturas que estavam ali no monte; mandou tirar delas os ossos e os queimou sobre o altar. E assim ele profanou o altar, segundo a palavra do Senhor proclamada pelo homem de Deus que havia predito estas coisas.
17 Then he sayde, What title is that which I see? And the men of the citie sayd vnto him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God, which came from Iudah, and tolde these things that thou hast done to the altar of Beth-el.
17 Então o rei perguntou: — Que monumento é este que estou vendo? Os homens da cidade responderam: — É a sepultura do homem de Deus que veio de Judá e proclamou estas coisas que o senhor acaba de fazer contra o altar de Betel.
18 Then sayde he, Let him alone: let none remooue his bones. So his bones were saued with the bones of the Prophet that came from Samaria.
18 Josias disse: — Deixem-no estar; ninguém mexa nos ossos dele. Assim, deixaram estar os seus ossos com os ossos do profeta que tinha vindo de Samaria.
19 Iosiah also tooke away all the houses of the hie places, which were in the cities of Samaria, which the Kings of Israel had made to anger the Lord, and did to them according to all the factes that he had done in Beth-el.
19 Josias também tirou todos os santuários dos lugares altos que havia nas cidades de Samaria e que os reis de Israel tinham feito para provocarem o Senhor à ira; e fez com esses santuários o mesmo que havia feito em Betel.
20 And he sacrificed all the Priests of the hie places, that were there vpon the altars, and burnt mens bones vpon them, and returned to Ierusalem.
20 E também matou todos os sacerdotes dos lugares altos que havia ali, sobre os altares, e queimou ossos humanos sobre eles. Depois voltou para Jerusalém.
21 Then the king commanded all the people, saying, Keepe the passeouer vnto the Lord your God, as it is written in the booke of this couenant.
21 O rei deu ordem a todo o povo, dizendo: — Celebrem a Páscoa ao
22 And there was no Passeouer holden like that from the dayes of the Iudges that iudged Israel, nor in all the dayes of the Kinges of Israel, and of the Kings of Iudah.
22 Porque nunca se celebrou uma Páscoa como esta desde os dias dos juízes que julgaram Israel, nem durante os dias dos reis de Israel, nem nos dias dos reis de Judá.
23 And in the eightenth yere of King Iosiah was this Passeouer celebrated to the Lord in Ierusalem.
23 Porém no décimo oitavo ano do reinado de Josias esta Páscoa foi celebrada ao Senhor , em Jerusalém.
24 Iosiah also tooke away them that had familiar spirits, and the soothsayers, and the images, and the idoles, and al the abominations that were espied in the lande of Iudah and in Ierusalem, to performe the wordes of the Lawe, which were written in the booke that Hilkiah the Priest found in the house of the Lord.
24 Josias também eliminou os médiuns, os feiticeiros, os ídolos do lar, os ídolos e todas as abominações que se viam na terra de Judá e em Jerusalém, para cumprir as palavras da lei, que estavam escritas no livro que o sacerdote Hilquias havia achado na Casa do Senhor .
25 Like vnto him was there no King before him, that turned to the Lord with al his heart, and with all his soule, and with all his might according to all the Lawe of Moses, neither after him arose there anie like him.
25 Antes dele, não houve rei que lhe fosse semelhante, que se convertesse ao Senhor de todo o seu coração, de toda a sua alma e com todas as suas forças, segundo toda a Lei de Moisés; e, depois dele, nunca se levantou outro igual.
26 Notwithstanding the Lord turned not from the fiercenesse of his great wrath wherewith he was angrie against Iudah, because of all the prouocatios wherwith Manasseh had prouoked him.
26 No entanto, o Senhor não desistiu do furor da sua grande ira, ira que se acendeu contra Judá por causa de todas as provocações com que Manassés o tinha irritado.
27 Therefore the Lord saide, I will put Iudah also out of my sight, as I haue put away Israel, and will cast off this citie Ierusalem, which I haue chosen, and the house whereof I said, My name shalbe there.
27 O Senhor disse: — Removerei da minha presença também Judá, como removi Israel, e rejeitarei Jerusalém, a cidade que escolhi, e o templo do qual eu disse: “O meu nome estará ali.”
28 Concerning the rest of the actes of Iosiah, and all that hee did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
28 Quanto aos demais atos de Josias e a tudo o que fez, não está tudo escrito no Livro da História dos Reis de Judá?
29 In his dayes Pharaoh Nechoh King of Egypt went vp against the King of Asshur to the riuer Perath. And King Iosiah went against him, whome when Pharaoh sawe, he slewe him at Megiddo.
29 Nos dias de Josias, Faraó Neco, rei do Egito, marchou em direção ao rio Eufrates, para ajudar o rei da Assíria. O rei Josias saiu para lutar contra ele, mas Faraó Neco o matou, em Megido, no primeiro encontro.
30 Then his seruants caryed him dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Ierusalem, and buried him in his owne sepulchre. And the people of the lande tooke Iehoahaz the sonne of Iosiah, and anointed him, and made him King in his fathers steade.
30 De Megido, os seus servos o levaram morto e, num carro, o transportaram para Jerusalém, onde o sepultaram no seu túmulo. O povo da terra tomou Joacaz, filho de Josias, e o ungiu, e o fez rei em lugar de seu pai.
31 Iehoahaz was three and twentie yeere olde when he beganne to reigne, and reigned three moneths in Ierusalem. His mothers name also was Hamutal the daughter of Ieremiah of Libnah.
31 Joacaz tinha vinte e três anos de idade quando começou a reinar e reinou três meses em Jerusalém. A mãe dele se chamava Hamutal e era filha de Jeremias, de Libna.
32 And he did euill in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done.
32 Joacaz fez o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor , segundo tudo o que os seus pais haviam feito.
33 And Pharaoh Nechoh put him in bondes at Riblah in the lande of Hamath, while he reigned in Ierusalem, and put the lande to a tribute of an hundreth talents of siluer, and a talent of golde.
33 Porém Faraó Neco mandou prendê-lo em Ribla, na terra de Hamate, para que não reinasse em Jerusalém; e impôs à terra um tributo de três mil e quatrocentos quilos de prata e trinta e quatro quilos de ouro.
34 And Pharaoh Nechoh made Eliakim the sonne of Iosiah King in steade of Iosiah his father, and turned his name to Iehoiakim, and tooke Iehoahaz away, which when he came to Egypt, dyed there.
34 Faraó Neco colocou Eliaquim, filho de Josias, como rei em lugar de Josias, seu pai, e mudou o nome dele para Jeoaquim. Mas levou Joacaz consigo para o Egito, onde ele morreu.
35 And Iehoiakim gaue the siluer and the golde to Pharaoh, and taxed the land to giue the money, according to the commadement of Pharaoh: he leuyed of euery man of the people of the lande, according to his value, siluer and golde to giue vnto Pharaoh Nechoh.
35 Jeoaquim entregou aquela prata e aquele ouro a Faraó. Mas, para dar esse dinheiro segundo a ordem de Faraó, Jeoaquim estabeleceu um imposto sobre a terra. Do povo da terra exigiu prata e ouro, de cada um segundo as suas posses, para o dar a Faraó Neco.
36 Iehoiakim was fiue and twentie yere olde, when he began to reigne, and he reigned eleuen yeeres in Ierusalem. His mothers name also was Zebudah the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.
36 Jeoaquim tinha vinte e cinco anos de idade quando começou a reinar e reinou onze anos em Jerusalém. A mãe dele se chamava Zebida e era filha de Pedaías, de Ruma.
37 And he did euill in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done.
37 Jeoaquim fez o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor , segundo tudo o que os seus pais haviam feito.
