1 Ioash was seuen yere olde, when he began to reigne, and he reigned fourty yeere in Ierusalem: and his mothers name was Zibiah of Beer-sheba.
1 Tinha Joás sete anos de idade quando começou a reinar e quarenta anos reinou em Jerusalém; e era o nome de sua mãe Zíbia, de Berseba.
2 And Ioash did vprightly in the sight of the Lord, all the dayes of Iehoiada the Priest.
2 E fez Joás o que era reto aos olhos do Senhor , todos os dias do sacerdote Joiada.
3 And Iehoiada tooke him two wiues, and he begate sonnes and daughters.
3 E tomou Joiada para ele duas mulheres; e gerou filhos e filhas.
4 And afterward it came into Ioash mind, to renew the house of the Lord.
4 E sucedeu, depois disso, que veio ao coração de Joás renovar a Casa do Senhor .
5 And he assembled the Priests and the Leuites, and said to them, Goe out vnto the cities of Iudah, and gather of all Israel money to repaire the house of your God, from yeere to yeere, and haste the thing: but the Leuites hasted not.
5 Ajuntou, pois, os sacerdotes e os levitas e disse-lhes: Saí pelas cidades de Judá e ajuntai dinheiro de todo o Israel para reparar a Casa do vosso Deus, de ano em ano; e, vós, apressai este negócio. Porém os levitas não se apressaram.
6 Therefore the King called Iehoiada, the chiefe, and said vnto him, Why hast thou not required of the Leuites to bring in out of Iudah and Ierusalem the taxe of Moses the seruant of the Lord, and of the Congregation of Israel, for the Tabernacle of the testimonie?
6 E o rei chamou a Joiada, o chefe, e disse-lhe: Por que não fizeste inquirição entre os levitas, para que trouxessem de Judá e de Jerusalém a oferta de Moisés, servo do Senhor , e da congregação de Israel à Tenda do Testemunho?
7 For wicked Athaliah, and her children brake vp the house of God: and all the things that were dedicate for the house of the Lord, did they bestowe vpon Baalim.
7 Porque, sendo Atalia ímpia, seus filhos arruinaram a Casa de Deus e até todas as coisas sagradas da Casa do Senhor empregaram em baalins.
8 Therefore the King commanded, and they made a chest, and set it at the gate of the house of the Lord without.
8 E deu o rei ordem, e fizeram uma arca e a puseram fora, à porta da Casa do Senhor .
9 And they made proclamation thorow Iudah and Ierusalem, to bring vnto the Lord the taxe of Moses the seruant of God, layde vpon Israel in the wildernesse.
9 E publicou-se em Judá e em Jerusalém que trouxessem ao Senhor a oferta que Moisés, o servo de Deus, havia imposto a Israel no deserto.
10 And all the princes and all the people reioyced, and brought in, and cast into the chest, vntill they had finished.
10 Então, todos os príncipes e todo o povo se alegraram, e trouxeram a oferta, e a lançaram na arca, até que acabaram a obra.
11 And when it was time, they brought the chest vnto the Kings officer by the hand of the Leuites: and when they saw that there was much siluer, then the Kings Scribe (and one appoynted by the hie Priest) came and emptied the chest, and tooke it, and caried it to his place againe: thus they did day by day, and gathered siluer in abundance.
11 E sucedeu que, ao tempo que traziam a arca pelas mãos dos levitas, segundo o mandado do rei, e vendo que já havia muito dinheiro, vinham o escrivão do rei e o comissário do sumo sacerdote, e esvaziavam a arca, e a tomavam, e a tornavam ao seu lugar; assim faziam dia após dia e ajuntaram dinheiro em abundância,
12 And the King and Iehoiada gaue it to such as did the labour and worke in the house of the Lord, and hyred masons and carpenters to repayre the house of the Lord: they gaue it also to workers of yron and brasse, to repayre the house of the Lord.
12 o qual o rei e Joiada davam aos que dirigiam a obra do serviço da Casa do Senhor e alugaram pedreiros e carpinteiros, para renovarem a Casa do Senhor , como também ferreiros e serralheiros, para repararem a Casa do Senhor .
13 So the workemen wrought, and the worke amended through their hands: and they restored the house of God to his state, and strengthened it.
13 E os que dirigiam a obra faziam que a reparação da obra fosse crescendo pelas suas mãos, e restauraram a Casa de Deus ao seu estado, e a fortaleceram.
14 And when they had finished it, they brought the rest of the siluer before the King and Iehoiada, and he made thereof vessels for the house of the Lord, euen vessels to minister, both morters and incense cuppes, and vessels of golde, and of siluer: and they offred burnt offrings in the house of the Lord continually all the dayes of Iehoiada.
14 E, depois de acabarem, trouxeram o resto do dinheiro diante do rei e de Joiada e dele fizeram utensílios para a Casa do Senhor , e objetos para ministrar e oferecer, e perfumadores e vasos de ouro e de prata. E continuamente sacrificaram holocaustos na Casa do Senhor , todos os dias de Joiada.
15 But Iehoiada waxed olde, and was ful of dayes and dyed. An hundreth and thirtie yeere olde was he when he dyed.
15 E envelheceu Joiada e morreu farto de dias; era da idade de cento e trinta anos quando morreu.
16 And they buried him in the citie of Dauid with the kings, because he had done good in Israel, and toward God and his house.
16 E o sepultaram na Cidade de Davi, com os reis, porque tinha feito bem em Israel e para com Deus e a sua casa.
17 And after the death of Iehoiada, came the princes of Iudah, and did reuerence to the King, and the King hearkened vnto them.
17 Porém, depois da morte de Joiada, vieram os príncipes de Judá e prostraram-se perante o rei; e o rei os ouviu.
18 And they left the house of the Lord God of their fathers, and serued groues and idoles: and wrath came vpon Iudah and Ierusalem, because of this their trespasse.
18 E deixaram a Casa do Senhor , Deus de seus pais, e serviram às imagens do bosque e aos ídolos; então, veio grande ira sobre Judá e Jerusalém por causa desta sua culpa.
19 And God sent Prophets amog the, to bring them againe vnto the Lord: and they made protestation among them, but they would not heare.
19 Porém enviou profetas entre eles, para os fazer tornar ao Senhor , os quais protestaram contra eles; mas eles não deram ouvidos.
20 And the Spirit of God came vpon Zechariah the sonne of Iehoiada the Priest, which stoode aboue the people, and sayde vnto them, Thus sayth God, Why transgresse ye the commandements of the Lord? surely ye shall not prosper: because ye haue forsaken the Lord, he also hath forsaken you.
20 E o Espírito de Deus revestiu a Zacarias, filho do sacerdote Joiada, o qual se pôs em pé acima do povo e lhes disse: Assim diz Deus: Por que transgredis os mandamentos do Senhor ? Portanto, não prosperareis; porque deixastes o Senhor , também ele vos deixará.
21 Then they conspired against him and stoned him with stones at the commandement of the King, in the court of the house of the Lord.
21 E eles conspiraram contra ele e o apedrejaram com pedras, por mandado do rei, no pátio da Casa do Senhor .
22 Thus Ioash the King remembred not the kindnesse which Iehoiada his father had done to him, but slewe his sonne. And when he dyed, he sayd, The Lord looke vpon it, and require it.
22 Assim, o rei Joás não se lembrou da beneficência que Joiada, pai de Zacarias, lhe fizera; porém matou-lhe o filho, o qual, morrendo, disse: O Senhor o verá e o requererá.
23 And when the yeere was out, the host of Aram came vp against him, and they came against Iudah and Ierusalem, and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people, and sent all the spoyle of them vnto the King of Damascus.
23 E sucedeu, no decurso de um ano, que o exército da Síria subiu contra ele, e vieram a Judá e a Jerusalém, e destruíram dentre o povo a todos os príncipes do povo, e todo o seu despojo enviaram ao rei de Damasco.
24 Though the armie of Aram came with a small company of men, yet the Lord deliuered a very great armie into their hand, because they had forsaken the Lord God of their fathers: and they gaue sentence against Ioash.
24 Porque, ainda que o exército dos siros viera com poucos homens, contudo, o Senhor deu nas suas mãos um exército de grande multidão, porquanto deixaram ao Senhor , Deus de seus pais. Assim executaram os juízos de Deus contra Joás.
25 And when they were departed from him, (for they left him in great diseases) his owne seruants conspired against him for the blood of the children of Iehoiada the Priest, and slewe him on his bed, and he dyed, and they buryed him in the citie of Dauid: but they buryed him not in the sepulchres of the Kings.
25 E, retirando-se dele (porque em grandes enfermidades o deixaram), seus servos conspiraram contra ele, por causa do sangue do filho do sacerdote Joiada, e o mataram na sua cama, e morreu; e o sepultaram na Cidade de Davi, porém não o sepultaram nos sepulcros dos reis.
26 And these are they that conspired against him, Zabad the sonne of Shimrath an Ammonitesse, and Iehozabad the sonne of Shimrith a Moabitesse.
26 Estes, pois, foram os que conspiraram contra ele: Zabade, filho de Simeate, a amonita, e Jozabade, filho de Sinrite, a moabita.
27 But his sonnes, and the summe of the taxe gathered by him, and the foundation of the house of God, behold, they are written in the storie of the booke of the Kings. And Amaziah his sonne reigned in his steade.
27 E, quanto a seus filhos, e à grandeza do cargo que se lhe impôs, e ao estabelecimento da Casa de Deus, eis que está escrito no livro da história dos reis. E Amazias, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
