1 After this also came the children of Moab and the children of Ammon, and with them of the Ammonites against Iehoshaphat to battell.
1 Sucedeu depois disso, que os filhos de Moabe, e os filhos de Amom, e com eles outros do lado dos amonitas, vieram para a batalha contra Josafá.
2 Then there came that tolde Iehoshaphat, saying, There commeth a great multitude against thee from beyonde the Sea, out of Aram: and beholde, they bee in Hazzon Tamar, which is En-gedi.
2 Então, vieram ali alguns que contaram a Josafá, dizendo: Vem ali uma grande multidão contra ti dalém mar neste lado da Síria; e, eis que eles estão em Hazazom-Tamar, que é En-Gedi.
3 And Iehoshaphat feared, and set him selfe to seeke the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Iudah.
3 E Josafá temeu, e pôs-se a buscar o SENHOR, e proclamou um jejum em todo o Judá.
4 And Iudah gathered them selues together to aske counsel of the Lord: they came euen out of all the cities of Iudah to inquire of the Lord,
4 E Judá reuniu-se, para pedir socorro ao SENHOR; de todas as cidades de Judá, eles vinham buscar o SENHOR.
5 And Iehoshaphat stoode in the Congregation of Iudah and Ierusalem in the house of the Lord before the new court,
5 E Josafá pôs-se em pé na congregação de Judá e Jerusalém, na casa do SENHOR, diante do átrio novo,
6 And saide, O Lord God of our fathers, art not thou God in heauen? and reignest not thou on all the kingdomes of the heathen? and in thine hande is power and might, and none is able to withstand thee.
6 e disse: Ó SENHOR Deus dos nossos pais, não és tu Deus no céu? E não dominas tu sobre todos os reinos dos pagãos? E na tua mão não há força e poder, de modo que não há quem te possa resistir?
7 Diddest not thou our God cast out ye inhabitants of this lande before thy people Israel, and gauest it to the seede of Abraham thy friende for euer?
7 Não és tu o nosso Deus, que expulsaste os habitantes desta terra de diante do teu povo Israel, e a deste para sempre à semente de teu amigo Abraão?
8 And they dwelt therein, and haue built thee a Sanctuarie therein for thy Name, saying,
8 E eles nela habitam, e edificaram nela um santuário para o teu nome, dizendo:
9 If euill come vpon vs, as the sworde of iudgement, or pestilence, or famine, we will stande before this house and in thy presence (for thy name is in this house) and will crie vnto thee in our tribulation, and thou wilt heare and helpe.
9 Se, quando o mal nos sobrevier, como espada, juízo, ou peste, ou fome, nós nos pusermos de pé diante desta casa, e na tua presença, (pois o teu nome está nesta casa), e clamarmos a ti em nossa aflição, então tu ouvirás e nos socorrerás.
10 And now beholde, the children of Ammon and Moab, and mount Seir, by whome thou wouldest not let Israel goe, when they came out of the land of Egypt: but they turned aside from them, and destroyed them not:
10 E agora, eis que os filhos de Amom e Moabe e os do monte Seir, aos quais tu não permitiste que Israel invadisse, quando saíram da terra do Egito, mas desviaram-se deles, e não os destruíram;
11 Behold, I say, they reward vs, in comming to cast vs out of thine inheritance, which thou hast caused vs to inherit.
11 eis que vos digo, como eles nos recompensam, ao virem nos expulsar da tua possessão, a qual tu nos deste em herança.
12 O our God, wilt thou not iudge them? for there is no strength in vs to stand before this great multitude that commeth against vs, neither doe wee knowe what to doe: but our eyes are toward thee.
12 Ó nosso Deus, tu não os julgarás? Porque não temos qualquer poder contra esta grande companhia que vem contra nós; tampouco sabemos o que fazer; mas os nossos olhos estão sobre ti.
13 And all Iudah stoode before the Lord with their yong ones, their wiues, and their children.
13 E todo o Judá se pôs de pé diante do SENHOR, com os seus pequenos, as suas esposas e os seus filhos.
14 And Iahaziel the sonne of Zechariah the sonne of Benaiah, the sonne of Ieiel, the sonne of Mattaniah, a Leuite of the sonnes of Asaph was there, vpon whome came the Spirite of ye Lord, in the middes of the Congregation.
14 Então, veio o Espírito do SENHOR no meio da congregação sobre Jaaziel, o filho de Zacarias, o filho de Benaia, o filho de Jeiel, o filho de Matanias, um levita dos filhos de Asafe,
15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Iudah, and ye inhabitantes of Ierusalem, and thou, King Iehoshaphat: thus saith the Lord vnto you, Feare you not, neither be afraide for this great multitude: for the battel is not yours, but Gods.
15 e ele disse: Ouvi, todo o Judá, e vós habitantes de Jerusalém, e tu, rei Josafá: Assim diz o SENHOR a vós: Não temais nem vos amedronteis em razão desta grande multidão; porque a batalha não é vossa, mas de Deus.
16 To morowe goe yee downe against them: beholde, they come vp by the cleft of Ziz, and ye shall finde them at the ende of the brooke before the wildernesse of Ieruel.
16 Amanhã descereis contra eles; eis que sobem pelo penhasco de Ziz; e vós os encontrareis no fim do ribeiro, diante do deserto de Jeruel.
17 Ye shall not neede to fight in this battell: stand still, moue not, and behold the saluation of the Lord towardes you: O Iudah, and Ierusalem, feare ye not, neither be afraid: to morow goe out against them, and the Lord wilbe with you.
17 Vós não precisareis lutar nesta batalha; posicionai-vos, ponde-vos parados de pé, e vede a salvação do SENHOR convosco, ó Judá e Jerusalém; não temais, nem estejais desfalecidos; amanhã saí contra eles; porque o SENHOR será convosco.
18 Then Iehoshaphat bowed downe with his face to the earth, and all Iudah and the inhabitants of Ierusalem fell downe before the Lord, worshipping the Lord.
18 E Josafá curvou a sua cabeça com a sua face para o chão; e todo o Judá e os habitantes de Jerusalém caíram diante do SENHOR, adorando o SENHOR.
19 And the Leuites of the children of the Kohathites and of the childre of the Corhites stood vp to prayse the Lord God of Israel with a loude voyce on hie.
19 E os levitas, dos filhos dos coatitas, e dos filhos dos coraítas, levantaram-se para louvarem ao SENHOR Deus de Israel em alta voz.
20 And when they arose early in the morning, they went forth to the wildernesse of Tekoa: and as they departed, Iehoshaphat stoode and sayde, Heare ye me, O Iudah, and ye inhabitants of Ierusalem: put your trust in the Lord your God, and ye shalbe assured: beleeue his Prophets, and ye shall prosper.
20 E eles se levantaram cedo pela manhã, e saíram para o deserto de Tecoa; e enquanto saíam, Josafá pôs-se de pé e disse: Ouvi-me, ó Judá, e vós habitantes de Jerusalém; crede no SENHOR vosso Deus, assim sereis estabelecidos; crede nos seus profetas, assim prosperareis.
21 And when he had consulted with the people, and appoynted singers vnto the Lord, and them that should prayse him that is in the beautifull Sanctuarie, in going forth before the men of armes, and saying, Prayse ye the Lord, for his mercy lasteth for euer,
21 E, quando ele tinha consultado o povo, indicou cantores para o SENHOR, que louvariam a beleza da santidade, enquanto saíam diante do exército, e para dizer: Louvai ao SENHOR; porque a sua misericórdia dura para sempre.
22 And when they began to shoute, and to prayse, the Lord layed ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Iudah, and they slewe one another.
22 E, quando eles começaram a cantar e a louvar, o SENHOR preparou emboscadas contra os filhos de Amom, Moabe e do monte Seir, os quais vieram contra Judá; e eles foram feridos.
23 For the children of Ammon and Moab rose against the inhabitants of mount Seir, to slay and to destroy them and when they had made an end of the inhabitantes of Seir, euery one helped to destroy another.
23 Porque os filhos de Amom e Moabe se levantaram contra os habitantes do monte Seir, para matá-los e destruí-los por completo; e quando massacraram com os habitantes de Seir, cada qual ajudou a destruir um ao outro.
24 And when Iudah came towarde Mizpah in the wildernes, they looked vnto the multitude: and behold, the carkeises were fallen to the earth, and none escaped.
24 E quando Judá veio em direção à torre de vigia no deserto, eles olharam para a multidão, e eis que eles eram corpos mortos caídos por terra, e nenhum escapou.
25 And when Iehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoyle of them, they founde among them in abundance both of substance and also of bodies laden with precious iewels, which they tooke for themselues, till they could cary no more: they were three dayes in gathering of the spoyle: for it was much.
25 E quando Josafá e o seu povo vieram tomar o despojo deles, acharam no meio deles tantas riquezas com os corpos mortos, quanto joias preciosas em abundância, as quais eles arrancaram para si, mais do que conseguiam carregar; e estiveram três dias recolhendo o despojo, pois era muito grande.
26 And in the fourth day they assembled themselues in the valley of Berachah: for there they blessed the Lord: therefore they called the name of that place, The valley of Berachah vnto this day.
26 E no quarto dia eles se reuniram no vale de Beraca; pois ali bendisseram ao SENHOR; por isso o nome daquele lugar foi chamado: O vale de Beraca, até este dia.
27 Then euery man of Iudah and Ierusalem returned with Iehoshaphat their head, to goe againe to Ierusalem with ioy: for the Lord had made them to reioyce ouer their enemies.
27 Então eles retornaram, cada homem de Judá e Jerusalém, e Josafá na sua dianteira, para irem novamente a Jerusalém com alegria; porquanto o SENHOR havia feito com que eles se alegrassem diante dos seus inimigos.
28 And they came to Ierusalem with viols and with harpes, and with trumpets, euen vnto the house of the Lord.
28 E eles vieram a Jerusalém com saltérios, harpas e trombetas até a casa do SENHOR.
29 And the feare of God was vpon all the kingdomes of the earth, whe they had heard that the Lord had fought against ye enemies of Israel.
29 E o temor de Deus esteve sobre todos os reinos daquelas terras, quando eles ouviram que o SENHOR lutara contra os inimigos de Israel.
30 So the kingdom of Iehoshaphat was quiet, and his God gaue him rest on euery side.
30 Assim, o reino de Josafá ficou calmo; pois o seu Deus lhe deu descanso ao redor.
31 And Iehoshaphat reigned ouer Iudah, and was fiue and thirtie yeere olde, when he began to reigne: and reigned fiue and twentie yeere in Ierusalem, and his mothers name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
31 E Josafá reinou sobre Judá; ele tinha trinta e cinco anos de idade quando começou a reinar; e reinou vinte e cinco anos em Jerusalém. E o nome da sua mãe era Azuba, a filha de Sili.
32 And he walked in the way of Asa his father, and departed not therefrom, doing that which was right in the sight of the Lord.
32 E ele andou no caminho de Asa, seu pai, e não se afastou dele, fazendo aquilo que era reto aos olhos do SENHOR.
33 Howbeit the hie places were not taken away: for the people had not yet prepared their hearts vnto the God of their fathers.
33 Todavia, os lugares altos não foram removidos; porque o povo ainda não tinha preparado o seu coração para o Deus dos seus pais.
34 Concerning the rest of the actes of Iehoshaphat first and last, beholde, they are written in the booke of Iehu the sonne of Hanani, which is mentioned in the booke of the kings of Israel.
34 Ora, o restante dos atos de Josafá, os primeiros e os últimos, eis que estão escritos no livro de Jeú, o filho de Hanani, que é mencionado no livro dos reis de Israel.
35 Yet after this did Iehoshaphat King of Iudah ioyne himselfe with Ahaziah King of Israel, who was giuen to do euill.
35 E depois disso, Josafá, rei de Judá, juntou-se a Acazias, rei de Israel, que procedeu mui iniquamente;
36 And he ioyned with him, to make ships to go to Tarshish: and they made the shippes in Ezion Gaber.
36 e juntou-se a ele para construir navios para ir a Társis; e fizeram os navios em Eziom-Geber.
37 Then Eliezer ye sonne of Dodauah of Mareshah prophecied against Iehoshaphat, saying, Because thou hast ioyned thy selfe with Ahaziah, the Lord hath broken thy workes. and the shippes were broken, that they were not able to go to Tarshish.
37 Então, Eliézer, o filho de Dodavá de Maressa, profetizou contra Josafá, dizendo: Porque te juntaste a Acazias, o SENHOR tem despedaçado as tuas obras. E os navios foram quebrados, de modo que não puderam ir a Társis.
