1 And Iehosphat his sonne reigned in his steade, and preuailed against Israel.
1 Josafá ficou no lugar de Asa, o seu pai, como rei de Judá e se preparou para se defender do Reino de Israel.
2 And he put garisons in all the strong cities of Iudah, and set bandes in the lande of Iudah and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
2 Colocou soldados em todas as cidades de Judá que eram protegidas por muralhas e também pôs acampamentos militares em todo o território de Judá e nas cidades de Efraim que Asa, o seu pai, havia conquistado.
3 And the Lord was with Iehoshaphat, because he walked in the first wayes of his father Dauid, and sought not Baalim,
3 O Senhor Deus abençoou Josafá porque ele agiu como o seu pai tinha agido no princípio do seu reinado. Ele não adorou o deus Baal ,
4 But sought the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandements, and not after the trade of Israel.
4 mas adorou o Deus do seu pai e obedeceu aos seus mandamentos, em vez de seguir o mau exemplo dos reis de Israel.
5 Therefore the Lord stablished the kingdome in his hande, and all Iudah brought presents to Iehoshaphat, so that he had of riches and honour in abundance.
5 O Senhor firmou o poder de Josafá como rei, e todos em Judá lhe davam presentes. Assim Josafá ficou muito rico e famoso.
6 And he lift vp his heart vnto the wayes of the Lord, and he tooke away moreouer the hie places and the groues out of Iudah.
6 Continuou cada vez mais decidido a obedecer às leis de Deus e acabou com os lugares pagãos de adoração e os postes da deusa Aserá que havia no país de Judá.
7 And in the thirde yere of his reigne he sent his princes, Ben-hail, and Obadiah, and Zechariah, and Nethaneel, and Michaiah, that they should teach in the cities of Iudah,
7 No terceiro ano do seu reinado, Josafá enviou as seguintes autoridades para ensinarem a Lei de Deus nas cidades de Judá: Ben-Hail, Obadias, Zacarias, Netanel e Micaías.
8 And with them Leuites, Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Iehonathan, and Adoniiah, and Tobiiah, and Tob-adoniiah, Leuites, and with the Elishama and Iehoram Priestes.
8 Junto com eles foram os seguintes levitas : Semaías, Netanias, Zebadias, Asael, Semiramote, Jônatas, Adonias, Tobias e Tobe-Adonias. Os sacerdotes Elisama e Jeorão também foram.
9 And they taught in Iudah, and had the booke of the Lawe of the Lord with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Iudah, and taught the people.
9 Levaram consigo o Livro da Lei de Deus, o Senhor , e foram por todas as cidades de Judá, ensinando a Lei a todo o povo.
10 And the feare of the Lord fell vpon all the kingdomes of ye lands that were round about Iudah, and they fought not against Iehoshaphat.
10 O Senhor Deus fez com que todos os povos vizinhos de Judá ficassem com medo de Josafá, e por isso eles não fizeram guerra contra ele.
11 Also some of the Philistims brought Iehoshaphat giftes and tribute siluer, and the Arabians brought him flockes, seuen thousande and seuen hundreth rammes, and seuen thousande and seuen hundreth hee goates.
11 Alguns filisteus trouxeram presentes e prata para Josafá, como imposto, e alguns árabes trouxeram sete mil e setecentas ovelhas e sete mil e setecentos bodes.
12 So Iehoshaphat prospered and grewe vp on hie: and he built in Iudah palaces and cities of store.
12 Josafá foi ficando cada vez mais forte e construiu fortalezas e cidades-armazém,
13 And he had great workes in the cities of Iudah, and men of warre, and valiant men in Ierusalem.
13 onde ajuntou grande quantidade de mantimentos. Em Jerusalém ele colocou oficiais valentes e experimentados.
14 And these are the nombers of them after the house of their fathers, In Iudah were captaines of thousands, Adnah the captaine, and with him of valiant men three hundreth thousande.
14 Esta é a lista desses oficiais, de acordo com os grupos de famílias que eles comandavam: Adna era o comandante das tropas das famílias de Judá e comandava trezentos mil soldados.
15 And at his hande Iehohanan a captaine, and with him two hundreth and fourescore thousande.
15 Em seguida, vinha Joanã, que comandava duzentos e oitenta mil homens;
16 And at his hande Amasiah the sonne of Zichri, which willingly offered him selfe vnto the Lord, and with him two hundreth thousand valiant men.
16 e depois vinha Amasias, filho de Zicri, que comandava duzentos mil homens. Amasias tinha se apresentado de livre e espontânea vontade para servir a Deus, o Senhor .
17 And of Beniamin, Eliada a valiant man, and with him armed men with bowe and shielde two hundreth thousand.
17 O comandante dos soldados das famílias de Benjamim era Eliada, um oficial valente; ele comandava duzentos mil homens armados de escudos e arcos e flechas.
18 And at his hand Iehozabad, and with him an hundreth and fourescore thousand armed to the warre.
18 Finalmente vinha Jozabade, que comandava cento e oitenta mil homens armados.
19 These waited on the King, besides those which the King put in the strong cities thoroughout all Iudah.
19 Todos estes estavam ao serviço de Josafá em Jerusalém; além destes, ele havia colocado outros soldados em todas as cidades de Judá que eram protegidas por muralhas.
