1 In the sixe and thirtieth yeere of the reigne of Asa came Baasha king of Israel vp against Iudah, and built Ramah to let none passe out or goe in to Asa king of Iudah.
1 No ano trigésimo sexto do reinado de Asa, Baasa, rei de Israel, subiu contra Judá e edificou a Ramá, para ninguém deixar sair, nem entrar a Asa, rei de Judá.
2 Then Asa brought out siluer and gold out of the treasures of the house of the Lord, and of the Kings house, and sent to Benhadad King of Aram that dwelt at Damascus, saying,
2 Então, tirou Asa a prata e o ouro dos tesouros da Casa do Senhor e da casa do rei; e enviou a Ben-Hadade, rei da Síria, que habitava em Damasco, dizendo:
3 There is a couenant betweene me and thee, and betweene my father and thy father: behold, I haue sent thee siluer and golde: come, breake thy league with Baasha King of Israel that hee may depart from me.
3 Aliança há entre mim e ti, como houve entre o meu pai e o teu; eis que te envio prata e ouro; vai, pois, e aniquila a tua aliança com Baasa, rei de Israel, para que se retire de sobre mim.
4 And Benhadad hearkened vnto King Asa, and sent the captaines of the armies which hee had, against the cities of Israel. And they smote Iion, and Dan, and Abel-maim, and all the store cities of Naphtali.
4 E Ben-Hadade deu ouvidos ao rei Asa e enviou os capitães dos exércitos que tinha contra as cidades de Israel, e feriram a Ijom, e a Dã, e a Abel-Maim, e a todas as cidades das munições de Naftali.
5 And when Baasha heard it, he left building of Ramah, and let his worke cease.
5 E sucedeu que, ouvindo-o Baasa, deixou de edificar a Ramá e não continuou a sua obra.
6 Then Asa the King tooke all Iudah, and caryed away the stones of Ramah and the tymber thereof, wherewith Baasha did builde, and he built therewith Geba and Mizpah.
6 Então, o rei Asa tomou a todo o Judá, e eles levaram as pedras de Ramá e a sua madeira com que Baasa edificara; e edificou com isto a Geba e a Mispa.
7 And at that same time Hanani the Seer came to Asa King of Iudah, and saide vnto him, Because thou hast rested vpon the king of Aram, and not rested in the Lord thy God, therefore is the hoste of the King of Aram escaped out of thine hande.
7 Naquele mesmo tempo, veio Hanani, o vidente, a Asa, rei de Judá, e disse-lhe: Porque confiaste no rei da Síria e não confiaste no Senhor , teu Deus, o exército do rei da Síria escapou das tuas mãos.
8 The Ethiopians and the Lubims, were they not a great hoste with charets and horsemen, exceeding many? yet because thou diddest rest vpon the Lord, he deliuered them into thine had.
8 Porventura, não foram os etíopes e os líbios um grande exército, com muitíssimos carros e cavaleiros? Confiando tu, porém, no Senhor , ele os entregou nas tuas mãos.
9 For the eyes of the Lord beholde all the earth to shewe him selfe strong with them that are of perfite heart towarde him: thou hast then done foolishly in this: therefore from henceforth thou shalt haue warres.
9 Porque, quanto ao Senhor , seus olhos passam por toda a terra, para mostrar-se forte para com aqueles cujo coração é perfeito para com ele; nisso, pois, procedeste loucamente, porque, desde agora, haverá guerras contra ti.
10 Then Asa was wroth with the Seer, and put him into a prison: for he was displeased with him, because of this thing. And Asa oppressed certaine of the people at the same time.
10 Porém Asa se indignou contra o vidente e lançou-o na casa do tronco, porque disso grandemente se alterou contra ele; também Asa, no mesmo tempo, oprimiu alguns do povo.
11 And behold, the actes of Asa first and last, loe, they are written in the booke of the Kings of Iudah and Israel.
11 E eis que os atos de Asa, tanto os primeiros como os últimos, estão escritos no livro da história dos reis de Judá e Israel.
12 And Asa in the nine and thirtieth yeere of his reigne was diseased in his feete, and his disease was extreme: yet he sought not the Lord in his disease, but to the Phisicions.
12 E caiu Asa doente de seus pés no ano trigésimo nono do seu reinado; grande por extremo era a sua enfermidade, e, contudo, na sua enfermidade, não buscou ao Senhor , mas, antes, aos médicos.
13 So Asa slept with his fathers, and dyed in the one and fourtieth yeere of his reigne.
13 E Asa dormiu com seus pais e morreu no ano quarenta e um do seu reinado.
14 And they buryed him in one of his sepulchres, which he had made for him selfe in the citie of Dauid, and layed him in the bed, which they had filled with sweete odours and diuers kindes of spices made by the arte of the apoticarie: and they burnt odours for him with an exceeding great fire.
14 E o sepultaram no seu sepulcro que tinha cavado para si na Cidade de Davi, havendo-o deitado na cama, que se enchera de cheiros e especiarias preparadas segundo a arte dos perfumistas; e fizeram-lhe queima mui grande.
