1 We doe you also to wit, brethren, of the grace of God bestowed vpon the Churches of Macedonia,
1 Também, irmãos, vos fazemos conhecer a graça de Deus concedida às igrejas da Macedônia;
2 Because in great triall of affliction their ioy abounded, and their most extreme pouertie abounded vnto their rich liberalitie.
2 porque, no meio de muita prova de tribulação, manifestaram abundância de alegria, e a profunda pobreza deles superabundou em grande riqueza da sua generosidade.
3 For to their power (I beare record) yea, and beyonde their power, they were willing,
3 Porque eles, testemunho eu, na medida de suas posses e mesmo acima delas, se mostraram voluntários,
4 And praied vs with great instance that we woulde receiue the grace, and fellowship of the ministring which is toward the Saints.
4 pedindo-nos, com muitos rogos, a graça de participarem da assistência aos santos.
5 And this they did, not as we looked for: but gaue their owne selues, first to the Lord, and after vnto vs by the will of God,
5 E não somente fizeram como nós esperávamos, mas também deram-se a si mesmos primeiro ao Senhor, depois a nós, pela vontade de Deus;
6 That we should exhort Titus, that as hee had begon, so he would also accomplish the same grace among you also.
6 o que nos levou a recomendar a Tito que, como começou, assim também complete esta graça entre vós.
7 Therefore, as yee abound in euery thing, in faith and woorde, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your loue towardes vs, euen so see that yee abound in this grace also.
7 Como, porém, em tudo, manifestais superabundância, tanto na fé e na palavra como no saber, e em todo cuidado, e em nosso amor para convosco, assim também abundeis nesta graça.
8 This say I not by commandement, but because of the diligence of others: therefore prooue I the naturalnesse of your loue.
8 Não vos falo na forma de mandamento, mas para provar, pela diligência de outros, a sinceridade do vosso amor;
9 For ye knowe the grace of our Lord Iesus Christ, that hee being rich, for your sakes became poore, that yee through his pouertie might be made rich.
9 pois conheceis a graça de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, que, sendo rico, se fez pobre por amor de vós, para que, pela sua pobreza, vos tornásseis ricos.
10 And I shewe my minde herein: for this is expedient for you, which haue begun not to doe onely, but also to will, a yeare agoe.
10 E nisto dou minha opinião; pois a vós outros, que, desde o ano passado, principiastes não só a prática, mas também o querer, convém isto.
11 Nowe therefore performe to doe it also, that as there was a readinesse to will, euen so yee may performe it of that which yee haue.
11 Completai, agora, a obra começada, para que, assim como revelastes prontidão no querer, assim a leveis a termo, segundo as vossas posses.
12 For if there be first a willing minde, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.
12 Porque, se há boa vontade, será aceita conforme o que o homem tem e não segundo o que ele não tem.
13 Neither is it that other men should be eased and you grieued: But vpon like condition, at this time your abundance supplieth their lacke:
13 Porque não é para que os outros tenham alívio, e vós, sobrecarga; mas para que haja igualdade,
14 That also their aboundance may bee for your lacke, that there may be equalitie:
14 suprindo a vossa abundância, no presente, a falta daqueles, de modo que a abundância daqueles venha a suprir a vossa falta, e, assim, haja igualdade,
15 As it is written, Hee that gathered much, had nothing ouer, and hee that gathered litle, had not the lesse.
15 como está escrito: O que muito colheu não teve demais; e o que pouco, não teve falta.
16 And thanks be vnto God, which hath put in the heart of Titus the same care for you.
16 Mas graças a Deus, que pôs no coração de Tito a mesma solicitude por amor de vós;
17 Because hee accepted the exhortation, yea, hee was so carefull that of his owne accorde hee went vnto you.
17 porque atendeu ao nosso apelo e, mostrando-se mais cuidadoso, partiu voluntariamente para vós outros.
18 And wee haue sent also with him the brother, whose praise is in the Gospel throughout al the Churches.
18 E, com ele, enviamos o irmão cujo louvor no evangelho está espalhado por todas as igrejas.
19 (And not so onely, but is also chosen of the Churches to be a fellowe in our iourney, concerning this grace that is ministred by vs vnto the glorie of the same Lord, and declaration of your prompt minde)
19 E não só isto, mas foi também eleito pelas igrejas para ser nosso companheiro no desempenho desta graça ministrada por nós, para a glória do próprio Senhor e para mostrar a nossa boa vontade;
20 Auoiding this, that no man shoulde blame vs in this aboundance that is ministred by vs,
20 evitando, assim, que alguém nos acuse em face desta generosa dádiva administrada por nós;
21 Prouiding for honest thinges, not onely before the Lord, but also before men.
21 pois o que nos preocupa é procedermos honestamente, não só perante o Senhor, como também diante dos homens.
22 And we haue sent with them our brother, whom we haue oft times prooued to be diligent in many thinges, but nowe much more diligent, for the great confidence, which I haue in you.
22 Com eles, enviamos nosso irmão cujo zelo, em muitas ocasiões e de muitos modos, temos experimentado; agora, porém, se mostra ainda mais zeloso pela muita confiança em vós.
23 Whether any doe inquire of Titus, he is my fellowe and helper to you ward: or of our brethren, they are messengers of the Churches, and the glorie of Christ.
23 Quanto a Tito, é meu companheiro e cooperador convosco; quanto a nossos irmãos, são mensageiros das igrejas e glória de Cristo.
24 Wherefore shew toward them, and before the Churches the proofe of your loue, and of the reioycing that we haue of you.
24 Manifestai, pois, perante as igrejas, a prova do vosso amor e da nossa exultação a vosso respeito na presença destes homens.
